The building in which the Melrose Grill resides was established in 1901 and has served as a tavern since the days of the horse and buggy. It also operated as a pool hall, soda shop and card room during Prohibition. Recently restored, Melrose Grill kept its historic roots with the original mirror-backed bar with its rich, dark woods. The walls showcase vintage photos that highlight the transitions this grand building has gone through. With wainscoting on the walls, low-slung lamps and high ceilings the space feels as open as the West was when it was built. The Food and Service at Melrose Grill will amaze and delight your senses. We work hard to provide our customers with the finest foods available, and prepare them in a way that will tame even most particular palate. Voted #1 Steakhouse in Western WA by King 5 & Evening Ma.
My most favorite place to bring out of town guests!
Lisa was our server again! Moved away and always return! It’s great to have your expectations met! Lisa was with us for our last 3 visits (over2 years) and remembered the crew! She was excellent!
Thanks for making our trip great!
I have been to the Melrose several times and it was excellent. I went recently for my birthday. The steak was absolutley perfect like usual the service was fantastic. However this time I tried the lobster and ut was horrible. It was cheey and way to salty. I will go back but I eill never order the lobster again.
Steak was well prepared and very savory
Potato was just right sized and salad was tasty as we usually expect and we were satisfied
My husband and I have heard nothing but good things so we decided to have my birthday dinner there. Just he two of us. From the moment we walked in it was a mess. We had a reservation and when they sat us at our table it was the only (worse) table that was not a booth, we asked for a booth and they moved us. The food was not worth the value, once our server finally come to our table we were ready to order. Orr server was nice but not as nice as he was to other people around us. Once our food arrived my food was cold and the steak was over cooked it was burnt. Being the only people of color in the entire establishment I didn't want to make a scene because our server seem to care less. Also my vegetables and mashed potatoes were cold. My steak was more tender than my husbands filet. I was very disappointed and will not return unless someone calls me from this establishment so we can discuss my experience. #birthdaydinnersucked #wefeltlikewedidntbelong #burntsteak
I've been here 3 times in the last 6 months. Every time was great! The food was great! The service was great! The Melrose has quite a few delicious meal choices, but I come for the steak. It's perfectly delicious every time.
Porterhouse with a loaded baked potato & ceasar salad... It doesn't get better imo. 🤘😎
The food and service at Melrose is great! The steaks are the best we’ve ever had and lots of great side options! Recommend having a reservation and give yourself plenty of time to find parking!
Everything was great except being seated without our entire party present. We had reservations and half of us arrived early and the other half was going to be about ten minutes late and weren’t allowed to be seated. I understand if we didn’t have reservations but after working all week getting started with a drink would have been nice.
Otherwise, good was fantastic!
Excellent food & service. Steaks perfectly done. Veggies tasty & also perfect.
Went to Melrose Grill on the recommendation from friends. It was worth the drive....I live in
west Seattle. I had the rib eye and it was a perfect medium rare. Service was great! I would not recommend it for an intimate date night or a business meeting only because it's got that pub/bistro vibe so tends to be a little noisy. For anything else it would be great. Went on a Tuesday night and was surprised by how busy it was....would recommend making reservations or there may be a wait. But again...it's worth the wait. Good food, good prices. Not disappointed!
Restaurant is small & noisy but has outstanding steaks! Prices are not cheap but you baked potato, vegetables, salad, & rolls are included in the price of dinner. The food/steaks are outstanding & cooked perfectly. One of the best steak restaurants around.
Best steak around! 5 stars!! We celebrate all occasions at the Melrose.
One of my favorite restaurants. Great steakhouse!
This was the first time my husband and I visited the Melrose Grill. It opened at 5:00 and by the time we arrived for our 5:15 reservation, every table was occupied. That was proof Melrose Grill was worth the 45 minute drive. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. I highly recommend Melrose Grill, and will be dining there again in the near future.
The service was great, and our meals cooked to perfection.
Love this place. Would recommend to any of my friends
Been to the Melrose many times and never disappointed.
Food is excellent. Steaks are amazing. Service is very good. Get reservations.
Melrose Grill has a laid back atmosphere and consistently serves one of the best steaks I’ve eaten at the best price in the Seattle/Eastside area. We always make reservations, without one you will have a wait. This small unassuming restaurant has never disappointed!
Their beef stroganoff is fantastic. My boyfriend always orders a serving to take home with him to reheat and eat the next day for his lunch or dinner.
Everything was superb. We went for my wife's birthday after hearing about Melrose Grill from a friend. The service was wonderful, the food was fantastic. I'm glad we went, and it was well worth the drive from North Seattle.
Not a usual beef eater, but we tried it...and it was outstanding and very tasty.
It didn't meet my expectation. The food was over priced. My meal was very salty, my husband 's steak was tasteless. The service was friendly . I am not sure I will come again.
Food was A+, Service was A+++. Price was A-, Was very difficult to have a conversation. Would we go back; most definitely.
Reliably delicious steak without the fussy environment of most restaurants with food this good.
We love the Melrose Grill. They never disappoint. Their steaks are the best around IMO, and that includes the Met, and all the other downtown steakhouses. Usually order the Rib Eye and the tomato with blue cheese salad.
We went to Melrose Grill to celebrate my husbands birthday. The service was incredible. Our server was very attentive to our needs. The food was very good. My husband had the ribeye steak, and I had the special beef stroganoff. It was so good!
Great service, however our steaks were over cooked, dry and lacked flavour. Drinks where great
Went there for a family birthday meal in Dec. It was close to the holidays, which may explain the crazy crowds and long wait for the food. The birthday boy enjoyed his steak and wine, so it was still worthwhile! Friendly service. Parking a little tough.
Not perfect, but damn close. Amazing value. If you're used to eating at Daniel's, Aqua, El Gaucho, and John Howie, but the price keeps you from going weekly - go to Melrose. It isn't perfect, but at least half the price of the before mentioned so you can be a regular without the financial drain of the others. For example, 4 of us dined at Melrose the other night for a little over $250. The bill would have been $600 at Daniel's and $800 at John Howie. Not as good, but pretty close.
As always, pleasant staff, great service, and fun setting. Excellent steaks, with breads butter, salad, starch and vegetables. A huge meal at a phenomenal price. The only complaint I have is the noise level; it is extremely high making it difficult to have a conversation across the table. And we began our reservation at 5:15.
Love the food. Second time going. Very cozy setting.
Love Melrose ...everyone there is so pleasant. What a great evening we had for our son in law 30th best steak house in Washington
The food here is fabulous for adults. The space is small so it does get a little loud so it isn't the best for a quiet romantic meal and it is kinder to the establishment not to linger long. This is not a place for children really. The food, the flavors are grown-up. I have been here several times and the steaks are the best to be had in the area. This last time my husband had the stroganoff since so many reviews said it was good. He loved it but did find some chewy pieces of meat nestled amongst the quality pieces. We had the chocolate dessert again and this time the sauce was watery so it was harder to enjoy it. We enjoyed a fine red blend with our meal but I can't remember the name on it. I would love to make this a monthly adventure, but then maybe it wouldn't be so special. You HAVE TO make reservations; use open table. Relying on leaving a message on the phone is just nonsensical.
Melrose is my favorite restaurant for celebrations. I enjoy the ambiance. The service is excellent and attentive. Attire can be dressed-up or classic casual. The steaks never disappoint. Melrose is simply just a great place to enjoy time with loved ones and close friends.
Food, service, everything was excellent. Everyone had a grrrreat time. Thanks for the memories
This is our go-to place for family celebrations, particularly as we love steak but rarely cook it at home. Service is always great, food is wonderful. Save room for desert! My only gripe is it is very noisy, so not a great place for a quiet intimate conversation.
We try to go to Melrose Grill at least once/month and more often when we can make time. We love the food and the service is always efficient and friendly. This time, we both ordered the Filet (and always have leftovers to take home) and we ordered the Divine Beef Stroganoff To-Go which is a nice treat for a Saturday night dinner. Great!
Great food and service
As usual, food was amazing and service was great. Staff is friendly and attentive!
