Wonderful service matched with amazing food.
Only downside was the toddler in the adjacent booth, with the father mindlessly jostling his kid to elicit even more noise and squeals and squeaks. Very unthoughtful to others and should not be allowed in one of LAs top food destinations.
This was the second time I have been to this restaurant. The first time was for the Sunday Supper and the second time was in the main dining room. The service and food were impeccable each time. This is a classic style restaurant with an ever changing seasonal menu, served course by course and not the “small plate sharing” nonsense that characterizes so many of the newer “best” restaurants that are plaguing the current American dining scene. I would definitely go back given another opportunity.
Great food and atmosphere
Another memorable and delicious dinner at Lucques. Perfect combination of atmosphere, great food and drinks and yet not too formal or too casual. Used it for a business dinner and my client was so impressed and pleased!
Food was amazing as usual. Starts faith 5 cheese plate. She had the short ribs and I had the black cod and scallops. Finished with chocolate mess and 3 ice cream plate w short bread dessert. Everything was perfect. Was very pricey, but you get what you pay for.
Overall nice restaurant but if you are a tourist, don't take car with you, valet fee was about $20 or so.
Great meal, great service. A group of us went early and were able to talk AND hear each other!
The patio in the back was fairly noisy. We came for lunch and in the future, we would choose to dine in the main dining room
If you are looking for a restaurant that keeps you waiting for your reservation, serves innovative tall food on plates with irregular edges where one can't balance a knife, pushes trendy cocktails and a loud bar scene - don't come to Lucques.
Lucques seats you promptly and can make any drink you can name. Lucques serves delicious food that is fresh, global and familiar. At Lucques, one can hear the specials, one's tablemates and the background music.
OK - maybe it is a little dark to read the tab. Don't worry - overtip: the experience is worth it.
Cozy (fireplace!), relaxed (never felt rushed), yet polished (white tablecloths, staff attn to detail) atmosphere and service. We felt cared for without being smothered and can’t wait to come back!
The cookbook Sunday dinner was unique and very tasty. We enjoyed the time with the author, who visited each table and spoke of her focus on Mexican cooking. The prix fix menu was well created with many different textures and flavors working together. The staff, as always, was attentive and very informative about the meal.
The menu for Sunday's Mexican Cookbook dinner was exciting but the food was even better than imagined. This was another terrific effort by Suzanne and her team to bring the best tastes of the world to her loyal following, among who we happily count ourselves.
The food was disappointing. In the first course nothing tasted like an cerviche I have ever had. In the second course the shrimp were so small that by the time one removed the shell there was nothing left to eat. The pork was good but the cornbread was dry and tasteless and not a good accompaniment with potatoes. The desert was good. Overall the meal was very disappointing
Love the Sunday Dinner program at Lucque!
Really excellent, on its way to a Michelin star?
As always everything was great....
Food and service were great. Recommend Snapper ceviche
I marked “birthday” on the reservation and put in a note asking that you have the waiter acknowledge Justin’s birthday. It was never mentioned, as we watched the waiter acknowledge the couple sitting next to us who were also celebrating. Perhaps you should read the info in your Open Table requests or better communicate to your staff. As great as our meal was, missing this request left me disappointed overall.
Food was delicious! Beautiful flavor.
Our only issue was that the wine we ordered took a little time to get to our table. Perhaps the wine steward was at another table?? In any case, that was small potatoes. Food was great. Highly recommended!
Perfect way to celebrate my birthday! Incredible food, knowledgeable/helpful staff. WILL be back!
Lucques is and has been one of my favorite restaurants in LA for years now. My idea of a perfect dinner is to go there during the winter, sit by the fire or at the bar first having a drink and then sitting at one of the booths in the dining room for dinner with friends and family. (Don't get me wrong - the patio is lovely during the summer!) The food is always delicious and the recipes are continually creative. I enjoyed the Mother's Day prix fixe menu with my son this past Sunday. We both loved the food chosen for the menu that evening and, furthermore, the wine recommendation -- Failla 2017 pinot noir -- was excellent! We had a lovely time.
The food is inventive, and amazing, yet very accessible for "non-foodies". We loved the grilled filet steak, and the sommelier's recommendations for a wine pairing were perfect! What I love best about Lucques is the environment and the staff is warm and welcoming, which is so very rare in upscale LA establishments. Lucques is my new "must go" every time I visit Los Angeles, thank you again for a wonderful Sunday Supper!
We've been going to Lucques for 20 years. Its our favorite restaurant in L.A. (which, I guess, means it's our favorite restaurant in the world). The food is great, the servers are always friendly, knowledgeable and outgoing and Matt, the GM, always greets us with a smile (also, he's just plain fun to talk too -- as is the rest of the staff). I hope to hell you're around for at least another 20 years. My wife and I feel very lucky to have this place in our lives.
My favorite restaurant and we are in the biz!
This was the first time back to Lucques for Sunday supper in a long time...last time was about 4 years ago. Was so pleased nothing has changed...the restaurant is still CA casual with the right level of formality and the food is still top quality.
Great food, creative menu. Nice wine lust, fun desserts.
Lucques was lovely and we will return again, as we've done many times before.
We had a fabulous double birthday celebration at Lucques. We always love the Sunday Supper Menu, and this time it was a delicious Greek Easter-themed meal. Our server was delightful and made the evening even more special. Lucques is the perfect location for a very special time!
Remains one of the nicest and best dining experiences in LA. Food, service and ambiance are all wonderful. It never misses a beat.
Always a great choice, the menu is creative, the service impeccable and a little pricey but worth it.
The food was absolutely amazing.
I always take guests from out of town to Lucques. It never disappoints !
We had a birthday dinner and everything was perfect. The corner booth was special and the waiter was superb, as was the food. One of us had an allergy and the manager came over to check in which was confidence inspiring.
This was a long awaited meal and it surpassed our expectations!
Great foods and terrific servers in a casually elegant atmosphere. Great.
I chose Lucques for my birthday based on previous experiences which had been outstanding. The choices for the Sunday night supper were okay. It was fine but not memorable. Perhaps a rich chocolate dessert is not the best choice to follow fish or lamb; it's a dangerous combination for anyone who has allergies (even if mild).
Easter pre-fixe Sunday supper at 5:30. Almost empty when we started and almost full when we left. A brilliant meal.
Great place especially for weekend lunch when you don’t want Brunch but a real lunch menu.
Will definitely go back to check it out in the evening.
Lively atmosphere, food, wine, wait staff—could not have been better. Table for 2 a bit small, making food delivery a bit cumbersome, but not critical.
It was a fantastic birthday dinner, with superb food and stellar service by Simone. The Sunday Supper menu featured appealing spring dishes that were perfectly executed by the kitchen, including a memorable side of salmon—and while I did not expect a substitute for the meat course I declined, a delicious one was provided at the server’s initiative. The scrumptious but not too sweet berry shortcake for dessert arrived complete with a special birthday message.
The ambiance would have been perfect if it were not for the noisy toddler in the corner who launched his sippy cup across the table, requiring the server to clean up the resulting mess. A few years ago during our anniversary dinner on the patio, we were disturbed by a crying infant. We continue to return, hoping to catch a child-free evening, so it clearly hasn’t deterred us. The food and service are certainly among the best in the city.
