The food was delicious and our server, Hilda C., was very warm and attentive. She was very kind to my friend and I. Would love to come back for the food and ambiance.
Delicious food with kind, efficient and knowledgeable service!
We were seated in a room upstairs that is normally used for private parties that looks out on the driveway of the Sheraton Hotel next door. The service was very slow, took our drink order and food order at the same time 15 minutes after we were seated. The server had zero personality and was just going through the motions and another server was visibly upset about something. Think there are some systemic issues with the staff, wait awhile before you give Loulay a shot.
Wonderful food and service. We were happy that some meals could be modified to accommodate our strictly pescatarian diets.
For a wonderful delicious dinner Loulay absolutely lived up to it’s reputation. Having dined at Luc in Madison Valley I felt sure my family would enjoy a special pre theatre dinner at Loulay. The food was the best I can ever remember tasting at a Seattle restaurant. Had our server been better the night would have been perfect.
So, we're in a conference at the Sheraton and we have 1 hour for lunch. we go next door to Loulay and are seated, we order and wait for 3o mins for our food, we only have 30 mins left so I explain that we have very little time and the hosts checks and lets us know it'll be 3 mins. Well, not so much, 15 mins later and we get up and leave... hungry. Not good. Not what we expected. Not what we deserved.
We have been here many times, this time it was horrible...waitress spilled water all over me, didn’t say sorry, then she spilled a beer on my husband when we were leaving, both of our orders were wrong. When we got the food it was good but the service was so horrible that it brought the whole experience down.
Food was incredible, would definitely go back if I am in Seattle.
Servers were attentive to our needs and our time restriction. Food is delicious. Get the burger!
Great graduation dinner. Food was exquisite and has that Seattle hallmark. Will definitely be back.
loved the 3-course meal there. food was fantastic. french onion soup was superb. our waiter was very attentive and offered a dessert on the house as this was our wedding anniversary.
Went here for a graduation celebration with my parents and boyfriend. Everyone loved their food, the staff was friendly and accommodating, the environment was perfect and everyone in my party said they were impressed and satisfied. Would recommend for any occasion.
We have eaten here several times before and the food and service was wonderful. This time is was worse than a chain diner. Perhaps it was because the owner/chef was not there. Service was slow. When the main entrees came out there were less than luke warm. We told the server about the problem and he took them back. Shortly after they were brought out by someone else and the plate was warm. Imagine what reheated scallops taste like. Anyway, we used to love Loulay’s, but now we are afraid to go back. Hopefully, it was just our bad luck going for a Father’s Day celebration.
Able to take a very last minute reservation and service was prompt and able to accommodate our departure time. Food was great.
Absolutely recommend! This was our third time there (from out of town), for a Father's Day lunch.
Server was the most pleasant along with outstanding food. (Mushroom quiche, eggs benedict).
Great location for lunch or dinner to go with an evening performance or matinee at the 5th Avenue Theater around the corner. Our hat is off to the Chef in the Hat!
Loulay, as is normally the case, was wonderful! The dukkah smoked cod was delicious. We split a beet risotto for our second course whose grains were more plump than the usual risotto, very tasty! And my husband had the short ribs which he just loves. I had the halibut which was cooked just right. Unfortunately, we had the 5th Avenue Theatre to go to, so didn't have time for dessert. If you want consistent excellent food, go to Loulay!
Food and service was 👍
We have been to Loulay many times. The food is outstanding, without fail.
We loved the experience. The waitress, Hilda, was understanding of our need to not hurry. She allowed us our space to socialize and discuss the menu. The crab beignets were hot, crispy and good. I had a taste of my friend’s French onion soup which was very good, a touch of sweetness added to the wonderfulness of a great soup. Our meals ranged from cod to chicken and we all enjoyed our entrees. But really amazing were the desserts. Huckleberry sorbet and again beignets with creme anglaise, and we were licking the plates. Only complaint, wish there was a broader offering of full bodied Chardonnays had to resort to a rather expensive Montrachet. Most places in Seattle, much to my delight, had really great prices in wine, so much more reasonable than I am used to in So Cal, but the wine prices were a tad higher here. We had dined a few nights ago at Maximilian’s. Great view, but a rather tired menu. Loulay was more edgy and better developed menu.
Odd evening. Reservation was for 5:30 so we could leave by 7 for the theater. Duly noted by server, he’d take care of us.
Drinks, salads all went well. Then it’s 6:30, no entree’s in sight. Looking for our server.
Two entree’s served. I waited, everyone said, Eat. So I ate my halibut, which was delicious.
Then the third entree arrives.
Waiting waiting, finally the fourth entree arrived.
I wish I hadn’t eaten before we were all served. There was no explanation for the poor timing.
They comped all four entree’s which wasn’t necessary. But it was 7:05 before the check arrived. I left to go to the theater, the others waited for payment to take place.
Loulay is one block from ACT.
Our reservation was at 5:30 for a 7:30 curtain. The restaurant was virtually empty when we arrived.
We communicate, then confirmed our timing with the server.
There’s no reason why it should have ended so badly.
Very disappointed. Thank you for comping the entree’s.
I took my mother to Loulay for her birthday.
We had a 6PM reservation. They seated us in the balcony. As time went on, the restaurant went from somewhat busy to slow, and everyone in the balcony cleared out until we were the last ones. I guess everyone else had to get to a show by 7:30PM. The restaurant got a little busier again after 7:30.
The food was very good. I started with the French Onion Soup, and ordered the Short-Rib Bourguignon with a side of fries. The order of fries was huge, but they were very good. I just wanted to sample their fries, and because the short rib dish didn't include a lot of starch, it worked out ok.
We finished up with the Beignets. Each order came with three beignets and a little spoon scoop of vanilla ice cream.
This is a great restaurant for a special occasion, or if you just want to come in for the French Onion and fries.
Excellent, very accommodating, service. Portions are quite small.
3 out of the 4 in our party had delicious meals, short rib Bourguignon, scallops, crab beignet. Unfortunately, the 1 person who ordered the halibut found it to be overcooked and quite dry. We enjoyed very good service and nice selection of wines by the glass. We will definitely go back again.
A perfect evening. Excellent dinner served by Mark, a super server. This was one of those times when it was a grand slam homerun. Completely satisfying.
We go to Loulay two or three times a year, and it's always a treat. The food is top-notch, the menu selections are always amazing, both food and drinks. Service is always cheerful and super-professional. The experience is always memorable and we smile for days afterward.
As usual, a wonderful meal from start to finish. Quality of food and service excellent. This is our go to choice for after the theater. Took friends from Philadelphia this time and they were very impressed!
We came here for brunch for a birthday. Staff was wonderful and helpful with questions for gluten free needs. Food was wonderful.
Excellent food and attentive service. Couldn’t ask for more.
Had another great experience. Excellent food, service, and prices.
Great food excellent service a bit noisy great art
Service to our table of 6 was slow. Our wait person had an attitude.
Even though this restaurant is pricey, the food is creative and delicious! Also the wine list (while also pricey) is excellent. I love this restaurant!
Lovely table on the mezzanine. Servers were prompt and pleasant. Food was outstanding. Overall a delightful start to our evening before going to 5th Ave.
This is the apotheosis of a fine dining experience. Our server was one of the best I have experienced. She asked right off if we had time constraints, and after finding out that we were going to the theater (and that one of our number was playing Snowboy in West Side Story, she advised us as to when and what to order. She guided us through the menu and gave immediate and intelligent answers to our questions. At least one of our party was apprehensive before arriving about the strange combination of ingredients in the entrees. She was encouraged to try the halibut, as did two others of the party. Our actor chose the pork chop on learning that it was more than sufficient in size, and I chose the beef bourguignon. Our choices were right on, as evidenced by there was not a scrap of food left on any plate when we had eaten. Wine and booze selections by the server were perfect, and desserts brought beatific smiles to all. We made all of our time constraints without feeling rushed, and could not have done better.
My portion size for short ribs were on the smaller side. And my partners pork chop could use something starchy mashed like sweet potatoes or turnips... but DELISH!! I’m a FAN
It was our first time there, although the menu wasn’t too big but everything we ordered was PERFECT. So delicious and the staff was super friendly as well. Their coffee was awesome too! 3 girls ordered 5 dishes and we cleaned them all haha! Will def go back again and maybe try out their dinner menu!
Great brunch, love the local fare. The Bloody Marys both the Loulay and Queen Anne were good. The quiche this morning was leeks, mushroom, bacon with a lovely side salad. Farmers Breakfast was also wonderful, were ordered a side of 2 hen eggs which I would recommend to round or the entree. We will return for brunch and next trip try for dinner.
Delicious food a bit slow to get to table Since restaurant was not busy but food was food
Was our 70th birthday. All courses were good. Ran out of room in stomach for more. Food is first rate and served beautifully. Would return again.
