About the restaurant
Come dine in this beautifully restored Uptown restaurant on Magazine Street and enjoy James Beard Award Winning Chef Justin Devillier's contemporary Louisiana Cuisine.

The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans. Reservations are preferred.

We started with the short rib arancini. It was incredible. The inside of the arancini wasn't a glob of cheese—instead the fonduta on the plate added to the overall cheesiness, which I much preferred. We then had caesar salads, and it was one of the better caesar salads I've ever had. Then, we split a pizza and a pasta. For the pizza, we wanted to choose something we weren't going to get elsewhere. We opted for the mortadella pizza. It was delicious. the combination of flavors and textures was really great. We chose the agnolotti for our pasta. It was a light, refreshing pasta, with the lemon ricotta. I highly recommend Domenica. The atmosphere was comfortable. I would say elevated casual, where the service is top tier, and you can dress up a bit, but it's not fancy or stuffy. We cannot wait to return.

Menu items such as the seared gulf fish and the daily gumbo meld French traditions with New Orleans fare and flare. Our famous five course menu is still served nightly; but have no fear, the menu is no longer pre-fixe, so those less ravenous diners can join in too.

First time we ate there and everything was great. I was surprised even the salad that came with the meal was very tasty and I am not a salad person.

Nice Father’s Day brunch. Banana bread french toast was great, loved the pimento cheese starter. Cocktails were nicely crafted. Service was very good!
