Amazing experience. From food to service to ambience! Absolutely loved it and would recommend to whoever on the fence. The service is top notch. The servers know the menu very well, and actually help you navigate the menu if it’s your first time without making you feel intimidated. Most fine dining places the servers are not helpful and intimidating to some extent but here that’s absolutely not the case which made it feel so much more welcoming and warm and the experience better. It’s a very warm environment overall encouraging conversation. Food is amazing and an experience where you are tasting the food and talking about it. We ordered their squid ink pasta and seafood platter for two.

The Springwood can be summed up effectively as a neighborhood restaurant, whose values, regarding the menu, focus greatly on locally sourced ingredients, hyper-seasonality, regenerative farming practices and minimizing waste.

The restaurant is the brainchild of local entrepreneurs Matthew Simpson (Chef) and Jasmine Lee (General Manager). Partners in business and in life since 2007.

Food presentation was very unique, flavour and food quality outstanding, and wine paring perfect. Service was impeccable. It's a cozy room with great background music. Our server Justin gave impeccable service, attentive but not pushy. All of the plates tasted fantastic, the noodles were our favorite. Cocktails were balanced and tasty, their garnish presentation was positively subtle. A special reservation was made, and upon arrival we were immediately greeted with smiles and acknowledgment of one member of our party having food allergies. Gluten free bread was made available at no cost! Our guest said it was the best they have tasted! Appetizers to mains, everything was perfect! Our server Chris was attentive, courteous and timely. Bar Vendetta distinguishes itself in a space that had previously been a fairly iconic restaurant, The Black Hoof, with a beautiful (and imposing) Douglas fir ‘glass canopy’ and a completely different, 70s colour scheme, modelled (very loosely) on Jen's teen basement bedroom in Scarborough. Nothing says 70s like brown, orange and cream! We didn’t want it to scream ‘Italian restaurant’ because frankly it’s only Italian-ish, using the philosophies of Italian cooking with locally available ingredients and a strong devotion to seasonality. Our pastas all made in house, by long-time chef, Annalisa Latavo and our front of house team is simply a dream! The sort of secret treehouse-feeling back patio is hugely popular in the summer, but we think of it as the perfect restaurant for a colder evening, cozy for tucking into a beautiful plate of pasta, with one of your favourite songs playing while you have a very nice Italian red.

The only thing that could be improved is the music selection, which didn’t quite enhance the atmosphere as much as it could. A more curated playlist could elevate the mood even further. Overall, it's a great spot for a date or a night out, and I’d definitely come back!

We sat at the bar, and had excellent service as soon as we were greeted. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Food, cocktails, and wine were all well presented and absolutely delicious. I would go back in a heartbeat.
