Japanese
Chelsea
An always popular restaurant on the style-forward Kings Road in London’s Chelsea, Benihana offers an exciting take on Japanese dining. A concept originated way back in the 1960s over in the Big Apple, Benihana brings together food and performance, pioneering ‘eatertainment’. Ideal for families, Benihana is sleek and stylish with a modern interior, but chances are you won’t be paying much attention to your surroundings – most diners are too busy being charmed by the tableside teppan-yaki cookery which sees the chefs create real drama before your very eyes. In addition to the delicious personally created dishes cooked and served at your table, Benihana also offers eat in and lunchtime take away sushi.

Im a big fan of Gordon Ramsey and was excited to eat here, the layout was good and the toilets were clean, they even have restaurant was busy so the noise level was particularly high, they even have food was excellent especially the rib eye steak, wasn’t too keen on the price of the water at £7.95 for 700ml (I think or could have been a 500ml) and I didn’t know I could have had free tap water as the waiter didn’t really explain this, neither did they explain if there was any specials, they simply served us with not much chatter, I would have expected a slightly better service to match the quality of the food, nevertheless we was in London and expected to pay a higher price, but the service level should really match this in my opinion.

Great experience. Came with a 2 1/2 yr old, and everyone was very welcome of us and her. Food great - definitely some high points (orzo and blue fin tuna with red pepper) and one low (tempura courgette). Would love to go with friends for a night out starter - and would love to get the basque-inspired cheesecake! Would recommend for everyone

Once again another spectacular meal. We had the Iftar Feast - a huge selection of dishes - for a birthday lunch. They were all just beautiful and great value for the number and quality of dishes. Everything had so much flavour and the diversity of flavours was extraordinary. The chef threw in a naan - the lightest I’ve ever eaten. It was like eating a delicious cloud. The Paneer Butter Masala was out of this world. The dining room is lovely. Service is just as spectacular as the food. They could not have been more warm or welcoming. The wine list is great. We started with a couple of cocktails and would recommend doing the same. Clearly they put as much effort into the flavours of the cocktails as the food, giving them a delicate Indian twist. I took pictures but won’t post them here as the presentation is so lovely it seems a shame to spoil the surprise.

Located right by Clapham Common, Red Vine is a neighbourhood restaurant that celebrates Modern British food with a focus on wine.

Only using local ingredients, owner Richard Herbert and Head Chef Julio Amado have created a delicious, seasonal British menu with a Mediterranean twist.
Slow-cooked ox cheeks; deep-fried mussels served with aioli; and truffle tortelloni tossed in garlic butter all feature on the beautifully curated menu, which is divided into small plates and large plates. This is food that’s supposed to be lingered over. And with an uncomplicated wine list and creative cocktails, there are plenty of reasons to stay a little longer.

The charming restaurant welcomes dogs and is beautifully decorated with colourful walls and original church pews. A conservatory in the back with stained glass windows and an enchanting garden will soon open for al fresco dining. In winter, customers will be able to enjoy cosy meals curled up in front of the log burner inside.

Volta do Mar is the culmination of a journey of discovery the founders - Isabel and Simon - made over many years. They traced their family-history through food and travel, learning how people and culture integrated and inter-married across continents and over distant seas. What they discovered on that journey was an idea that later became a restaurant - Volta do Mar – meaning; to return from the sea.

Our menus at Volta do Mar showcase the delicious regional cuisine of Portugal and celebrate the international culinary confluences from its trading past. We cook Portuguese classics and dishes from the countries and places along its former trade routes, touching on Brazil, Cape Verde, Angola, Mozambique, Goa, Macau and Japan.
