Taste is something Hwaro is particular about. Taste is what owner and chef Eunsook Kim is mostly concerned with. Her dignified and somber character, reminds many people of their own mothers.

Kim herself is essential to Hwaro. The preparations for all the meat and sauce available at Hwaro are handled by Kim alone. This includes supervision of the slicing of the Karubi (boneless short ribs), and preparation of the 23 different ingredients* needed for the hot pepper Sangyu Pusaru seasoning. Nearly all of the seasonings lined up on the tables are Kim's own creations.

The quick lunch meals at $25 are great value for the size of the meal + drink. We were a group of 6 and all our meals were excellent. We need to better understand when ordering via the app how to ensure all our meals and drinks arrive together. 1 drink didn't arrive until we chased for it which was after all our meals had been delivered. But it was just a matter of asking one of the very friendly staff. We find the music is very loud here and it's really hard to talk and hear each other. It's a great place to go for lunch on a work day.

It was my 11 year old daughter's birthday today and this was her favourite restaurant. The staff were so attentive and surprised her with balloons and a special ice cream plate. It really made her day extra special.

Attended Sat the 12/10 @ 12pm - (only including the time and date of booking as I wish I remembered the staff names as;) both the wait staff service who were on shift was top notch, very friendly and approachable. The food was great, the only complaint really was the macaroni and cheese was good but not as great as last time. The rest of the food was AMAZING - this is our second time there and will definitely be going again. 9.9/10!

We dined at The Birdcage for Father’s Day. I had wanted to book for breakfast but there were no available tables until 11.15. This turned out to be a blessing because we could then choose from either the All Day Breakfast or Lunch menus. We brought a child along and his review was ‘This is the best chicken I’ve ever had.’ He’d ordered the kids chicken schnitzel. I’m a loyal Ricotta Pankcakes customer but this time went with a Mezze Plate which was amazing but could have been better with a little tzatziki. You can’t have everything. It was a little noisy but that’s to be expected on a day like Father’s Day. The presentation of the meals and the drinks is what keeps you coming back. That and the addition of Butter Boy cookies which I bought four of to take home. Snickerdoodle with Biscoff. Yum. Not a fan of the 10% surcharge. Not a fan at all. This was not a nice welcome sign when we arrived and unfortunately took a lot of our initial Father’s Day conversation topic on arrival. 10% is bit of a hike but what do you do once you’re there and you’ve had to coordinate 8 people to get there. This is the 2nd time we have had the Feed Me menu for $69 per person which has an abundance of mouthwatering deliciousness on every single plate . Definitely does not disappoint. Such great value for money. Unfortunately due to rent increase, we were told that they were closing down and Saturday is the last day. So sad. So get there asap!!
