Honestly the appetizers were so delicious and generous, next time I might just order the appetizers and desert. The entree's were wonderful, but it might be fun to do appetizers/desert....My friend and I mentioned we were celebrating our mutual belated birthdays, and our desert came out with a candle and Happy Birthday written in chocolate. Beautiful dinner experience! Jose’s Favorites tasting menu is a great choice for 2. Dishes are coursed out perfectly so we were always munching but never overwhelmed. I've lived in Chicago for 32 years and never made it here but was enticed by their happy hour. Who can beat $1 oysters and half off bottles of wine these days? No one. But one cannot live on oysters alone, so we ordered some sides that were all so well executed (oh those brussels sprouts!) that I am now resolved to come back to try their mains.The service was terrific, ambiance welcoming and fun (loved the piano player), and it was really a fantastic place to kill a few hours and a few bottles of wine with friends.

Saw one review that was misleading, suggested not a good choice for vegetarians, but with a call ahead they readily accommodated my vegetarian wife. A high note, waiter noted we were excited about stuffed zucchini blossom and ultimately made sure the chef included more of them in the vegetarian main course. Can’t wait for return visit!

We had one minor issue that was resolved in person by a manager who visited our table to handle and followed up with some complimentary wine. This was impressive and appreciated. Only complaint was something out of the restaurant's control, which was the ambiance. Table next to us was rudely loud shrieking girls, table behind us had their phone propped on the table playing videos, right in my sight line. Tacky people gonna be tacky. Overall would recommend!

We shared a bottle of Sancerre, oysters, the duck for two, and for dessert we shared the soufflé and the pistachio cake. We were particularly impressed with the duck and the soufflé! Service was outstanding. The ambiance is really nice, except that if the bar area is busy and loud, which it was for part of the time we were there (which coincided with happy hour), that bleeds into the rest of the dining room since there is no physical separation. That's really the only negative thing I could say. After happy hour, it was quite nice. Highly recommend!

A very nice restaurant to try out some famous desi dishes with a twist. However, there are not many vegetarian options. As a vegetarian I recommend Paneer Tikka, Paneer Kadhai (upon request, in the menu as Chicken Kadhai) and Dal Bukhara. The Dal Bukhara was very authentic and the Paneer Kadhai was just different and lovely. The service at the restaurant is amazing (kudos to Hadi), very polite, sweet, accommodating and quick. Do try the Chai Cutting to tie the bow on the amazing meal that you will have here.

We’re tequila/mezcal drinkers and ordered the 1973 firebird and the agua vida. Both were perfectly delicious. First firebird was as it came with ice. Second and third i ordered up and I preferred it up. Oysters never disappoints, live sea urchin brilliant. Octopus was underwhelming. Chilean sea bass was perfection. Sea scallops w roasted pork was so salty it was inedible. But, when the server noticed my plate was barely touched he asked and I spoke up (after all not a $5 blue plate special) He scooped it up, spoke to the kitchen, took it off the check. Soft shell crab w fried green tomato was great according to my bar neighbor. Being a big fan of key lime pie from Joes Stone Crab Miami Beach I can honestly say this was different but oh so delicious Light and fluffy! All in all a big WoW Wish I lived closer! I’d be here once or twice a week

Amazing experience for our 4 year anniversary. Food was the best I’ve had in Monterey and will now be a go to dinner stop anytime we come to Monterey. Had the filet mignon and added a lobster tail, it was the best surf and turf I’ve ever had. The steak was perfectly cooked, flavorful and charred, while the lobster was succulent, soft, and had so much meat in the tail. Ambiance was unlike any other- beautiful, scenic, inviting, and straight out of a romance movie. A dreamy spot that would be great for a special occasion. Would definitely recommend trying this place out. Sadly they were out of sticky toffee pudding, which is my favorite dessert, but that just means we need to come back here again for sure!

My dinner at Benoit was excellent in every way! We were celebrating my friend's birthday so I chose French cuisine which we both love. Neither of us had eaten at Benoit and with Ducasse at the helm we could look forward to food excellently prepared and served. We ordered Chilled Gazpacho (spicy yogurt ice cream), Red Tacos (tomato, crab & olive), Hamachi Crudo (peach & coriander), Dover sole à la meunière (grenobloise sauce), Quenelles de brochet (Nantua sauce), Pistachio soufflé (Raspberry sorbet), and Selection of 3 mature cheeses . Our gracious server S. Maciej recommended a Sancerre Flouret to accompany our dinner which was dry, full, fruity and delicious! It was a perfect! The ambiance is warm and comfortable. The service all around excellent but especially our server S. Maciej! The music selections, all kinds of jazz, were intrusive rather than complimentary. Jazz would be better suited to a cocktail/wine bar rather than a restaurant of distinction. That's an easy fix. We had a corner table away from the center as I had requested which was an ideal location for conversation and observing the restaurant in motion. They serve two French classic standards that very few French restaurants still have on their menu, i.e., Quenelles and Sweetbreads. The Quenelles were perfectly delicious and I will return for the Seared veal sweetbread (Swiss chard & black olives). I highly recommend Benoit Restaurant!
