Leunigs Bistro has been a Burlington institution since it opened in 1980. Located on the corner of Church and College Streets on the Marketplace, it invites all passers by to visit Burlington's own little Parisian Cafe. The decor and ambiance will make you think you're in Paris, and the food will make you think you've died and gone to heaven. A member of the Vermont Fresh Network, Leunigs chefs prepare the best of local ingredients with a worldly accent. Lunch served Monday-Friday, Dinner every night, and Brunch on Saturday & Sunday. Great wines by the glass or bottle, full liquor service. Best people watching in town. Reservations accepted, but not necessary. Every meal served with the panache of Paris and the value of Vermont, right in the center of town.

Food was cold, portion size vs. price has gone down hill. Quality of ingredients has declined. Not an overall good value.

We always have a wonderful time at Leunig’s! The food was fantastic all around. I had the salmon frites, and the salmon was absolutely delicious. My husband really enjoyed the beef bourguignon, and my dad loved the swordfish. One of the things we especially love about coming here is the kids' menu. It's so nice that our kiddo can enjoy salmon and green beans, followed by the ever-popular worms and dirt for dessert! Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt well cared for throughout the evening. Thank you for another wonderful evening. We always look forward to coming back!

I love Leunigs and we go there frequently, and on this occasion with out of town guests. I was so happy to see it bustling downtown on Saturday night. Our food was above average and it was a great experience except for our drink service. The overall service was somewhat slow, but that’s okay. They forgot my soup, but it wasn’t on the check so that was fine. It was crowded and we were okay with the wait. The bar service was the challenge. There were two bartenders so not sure of the problem, but it was a very long wait for our first cocktail. We were okay with that but we ordered a second round (4 glasses of wine) that arrived after everyone finished their meal. We asked the server mid meal for our drinks, and they still didn’t arrive for an additional 15 minutes. When they arrived, our guests sent their drinks back. Not a dealbreaker, but disappointing, as we were all looking forward to a glass of wine with our meal. I love this place and will return, but not on a weekend!!

Date night at Leunig’s was a lovely corner table, great service and a fabulous meal! Appies -French veggie soup and Caesar Salad- were delicious. My salmon -with sautéed spinach, sweet potato mash and green beans - was perfect. My husband’s North African stew ( not actually a stew) was also tasty. Well done, Leunig’s!

We dined on an extremely busy Sunday night. They were out of two of the main courses we asked for. Although the beef bourginon was very good, we were surprised to see it in large chunks. Our waitress was excellent and personable. The tables are SO close together you could easily share food and conversations at the adjacent table. Far too noisy and crowded for us.
