Welcome to Chef John Sundstrom’s Lark, one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier, artisan-focused restaurants. Lark works with local artisans, farmers, and foragers to serve the best of each season. We have two dining rooms which offer different ambiance but the same menu. Our ground floor dining room is classically elegant, featuring white linen tablecloths and plush banquettes. The Lark mezzanine is spacious with a rustic, elemental decor, tucked up into the rafters of our historic building. Please check both this page and the Lark Mezzanine page to see the full selection of tables offered on a specific evening. We encourage you to give us a call at 206-323-5275 if you're having trouble finding a table, our hosts are happy to help. Parties of 6 or more will be seated at 6:00 pm or 8:30 pm, please call to make those reservations.

Great New Year’s Eve Experience. They did a prix fixe four course dinner that made eating here on New Years more expensive than a usual dinner here.

Didn’t know what to expect - was given this dinner as a gift. Took my wife and two adult children, and we were all very impresssed with the quality, care and service. It’s evident a lot of love goes into the menu, ambience and overall experience. Thanks to all.

i was not in the mood for a large entree and so i ordered their hamburger. My wife ordered a starter rather then an entree, and my son ordered the duck as a main. there was a delay in our meal, so our waitress kindly brought a snack of salted nuts. when my hamburger arrived, i picked it up and immediately felt my fingers sink into a very soggy bun. ugh. there was a very bitter taste combination of red onion and greens on the top of the meat that i had to remove because of the taste. i couldn't pick the burger up due to the bottom bun being so soggy, so i placed the burger on the top bun and ate it with a knife and fork.
i should have had the hanger steak i guess. very disappointing.

The best restaurants can maintain the highest quality for years and years. This is one of those places. Every time my family and I eat here it feels special. Every time. I don't think I can say that about many other restaurants in town.

Another fabulous meal at Lark. Exceptional seasonal cuisine, refined but not fussy : Amazing Hamachi crudo, and venison, really loved the quail preparation. We will be back again and again!

Seared foie gras is just perfect! Steak tartare omg! The portions are just super small. It’s a very cozy decorated restaurant. The service is very good as well! I will still go back and even recommend this restaurant in special occasions.

This restaurant needs more than two Sous Chefs on a busy night! The owner/ chef just came into the kitchen to pick up some food to go. He needs to pay a bid more attention on the Quality and presentation
We dined there with out of town guests after the symphony last Sunday and where greeted by a host, with shirt hanging out of his pants, than came the unprofessional looking waiter to take our order. Drinks took 15 minutes, appetizers came rather quick and they were okay. Entree’s for our whole table arrived warm, not hot. Sitting to long, before being picked up. Crispy greens next to my wife’s steak were greasy and unseasoned, steak was under cooked and tuff . Quail, tuff and cold. Scallops crispy and very brown on the outside, over cooked. Gnocchi were good, but cold. As a retired European Executive Chef I expected more from a Restaurant of this caliber with a great chef/owner.

Food is excellent! The waitress was not friendly. Actually she seemed arrogant. Parking is difficult to find. I would still return to this restaurant for excellent food.

I'll start with the wines. The by-the-glass pinots and cabs were not remarkable. We rejected all of them and finally settled on a Saint Emilion Bordeaux, which was fine. You'd think a Seattle restaurant would have a reasonable pinot or cab. We ordered the duck and it was excellent. If we that was all we had, I would have rated them much higher. We also ordered the pear-and-spinach salad. After I was almost done, I had not even tasted the pear. My wife pointed out to me that the razor-thin shavings on the salad was pear. I think it is false advertising! When I order a pear salad, I want to pear weight, not pear garnish! We also ordered the squash. I love squash. This was very artistic, but cold and tough. We sent it back and it returned cold and tough. The waitress, who was charming, took it off our bill and said that they had taken it off the menu for the rest of the evening. We had come with high expectations. We left disappointed.

Great service. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the wines by the glass, the cocktail menu, and easily and accurately described dishes on the menu. And she was very pleasant.

I love the ambiance. It's nice that they have velvet soft seats, white table cloths, and in general it has more of a luxurious, sophisticated décor than the sparse modern hard surface décor you see at so many restaurants today. It's also quieter than many restaurants, at least from around 7-8 PM during the first half of our dinner, which I really appreciate. Restaurants are just too noisy these days. Eventually they cranked up the volume on the music a bit so it got louder, which was unfortunate.

Food was very good. It's fancy gourmet food, so you have to be in the mood for beautiful visuals and some unusual ingredients.

The people who work at Lark are delightful and knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. They made the dining experience enjoyable. The flavors in the foods are excellent and care has certainly gone into the food preparation. We had a table near the door to the outside and being winter, was unpleasant to feel the cold draft everytime someone went in or out of the restaurant. The lighting could be warmer in tone & brighter - with the high ceilings at night it felt more like dining in a dimly lit warehouse rather than at an intimate table for two (contrasting spot lights on each table or focused lamps on the tables could help).

We have a group with several specific preferences and dietary restrictions. The menu easily accommodated all of our needs. Everything was delicious.

The food courses all contained interesting and creative options. Food was very good. Server was excellent. Nice decor and parking was relatively easy to find. We will definitely be back.

I suspect that their regular menu is superb but they certainly didn’t go the extra mile to impress for restaurant week which was evident in the service (cordial, but aloof and minimal) and the food. Food that was supposed to be hot (soup, pork with rice and bouillabaisse) came to the table at room temperature and was drastically under-seasoned. I understand the impact that restaurant week has on cooks and servers, but at the same time, participating is not obligatory, so you might as well. We were disappointed.

Cocktails were wonderful.

The dinner date at Lark was a wonderful experience, starting with the friendly and professional hosting and serving staff, and the delicious and varied menu (farro was the piéce de résistance for us both), with the lovely ambience. Lark made the date extra special.

Such professional, friendly service and an absolutely wonderful menu. They offer creative and original fare that isn't off-putting or intimidating, right alongside truly approachable standards. The dessert menu is ridiculous as well. It's a beautiful space with great energy, and the whole crew seems genuinely happy to be there, and does an excellent job of passing that feeling along to their guests. We had a fantastic evening.

Went for restaurant week and had a delicious taster of their food. Would absolutely go back for a standard dinner. The one set back was we were early and went to go sit at the bar for a drink (probably had about 15-20 minutes before being seated). We were not given a menu for at least 5-10 minutes and were never actually served at the bar the entire time we sat there. Not a great start to the dinner but the dining experience in the main section was great!

Menu lacked some better cuts of meat; seemed focused on cheaper cuts but with expensive pricing. Wine list markup was pretty extraordinary. Service not all that warm or friendly, just efficient. I’ve had better experiences at Lark.

The biggest negative is the location (sketchy) and the parking, abysmal. Food was great!
