Before there was a hotel, there was a saloon. In 1852, thousands of thirsty prospectors filled their glasses at the original Golden Gate Saloon. After Grass Valley was destroyed by a fire in 1855, the owners quickly adapted and sold whiskey and beer to loyal customers from a tent among the rubble the next day. A seamless flow from the bar to the dining room and outdoor patio offers our guests the perfect mix of food and drink.     I was there when it was Tap and Vine and swore never to return, however, the New and GREATLY Improved and elegant Oak House does not disappoint. From the moment we walked in and were greeted, we were treated like royalty and family all rolled into one. The waitress, bartender, and other servers were attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine offered. The food was on another level, with the chef creating amazing dishes. This is a genuine DIAMOND of a restaurant.
