Bar Vendetta distinguishes itself in a space that had previously been a fairly iconic restaurant, The Black Hoof, with a beautiful (and imposing) Douglas fir ‘glass canopy’ and a completely different, 70s colour scheme, modelled (very loosely) on Jen's teen basement bedroom in Scarborough. Nothing says 70s like brown, orange and cream! We didn’t want it to scream ‘Italian restaurant’ because frankly it’s only Italian-ish, using the philosophies of Italian cooking with locally available ingredients, a strong devotion to seasonality, and all pastas made in house. The sort of secret treehouse-feeling back patio is hugely popular in the summer, but we think of it as the perfect restaurant for a colder evening, cozy for tucking into a beautiful plate of pasta, with one of your favourite songs playing while you have a very nice Italian red.

    Genuinely the most pleasant dining experience I’ve had in a very long time. The food is wonderful. The service is so great! I had the most wonderful time! Made my week! The honey garlic lamb ribs, risotto and olive oil cake are the three things I would recommend to everyone. The toast the the duck confit dumplings are great but like. What is in that honey garlic lamb ribs? Unreal. So good. The olive oil cake I would say it’s East Asian approved sweetness level. It’s so flavourful and decadent.

    The pasta was very good. I had the carbonara which was delicious. The fried artichokes were rich and delicious. The chicken was moist and delicious. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. A very good experience worth trying and coming back for.

    Awesome, awesome spot. We dined for our one year wedding anniversary and started trying to figure out when we could come again in the middle of the meal. Can't wait to say we've tried everything on the menu!

    Had a solo reservation at a high top table for the tasting menu. Highly recommend - flavorful, unique, and well presented. Front of house and back of house staff were delightful. The portion sizes for the 10+ course tasting menu were larger than I expected and I was absolutely stuffed by the end, but enjoyed every dish. Priced perfectly. Highly recommend.

    We enjoyed our time at the Trattoria, the food was delicious, and the service was great! We had the fichs for appetizer and they were exquisite, the lasagna for main, it was fresh made and tasty and the tiramisu was amazing! Highly recommended!
