All of our meats are “naturally raised” meaning no steroids, antibiotics or hormones and “humanely raised” meaning room to roam, proper shelter and gentle handling. We make every effort to buy only sustainably harvested seafood, primarily from the Gulf of Maine. We have consistently searched out New England farmers and fisherfolk to purchase product that is not only great tasting but great for the environment and local economy as well.

    Fabulous experience from start to end. The venue was lovely. The staff were professional but very friendly. We had the lobster tasting menu with oysters and the lobster bisque upgrade. All the dishes were outstanding with very generous portions for a tasting menu. The wine flight was also good value with some lovely wines chosen.

    Excellent service & food! When in Bar Harbor, Havana is a must! Best paella hands down!! And the mejillones (mussels appetizers) was incredible as was the caldo de frijoles soup.

    Well, y’all, the Reading Room sure knows how to treat folks right! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with fresh oysters, a bottle of wine, filet mignon with lobster tail for me, and the Easy Lobster for her. Everything was absolutely phenomenal! The staff went above and beyond, especially the hostess and a woman named Brie who checked on us throughout dinner. They even surprised us with an anniversary card! True Southern hospitality all the way up in Maine! And that blueberry pie? Hands down the best I’ve had in all my travels! Worth every penny and then some!

    Bella our waiter was terrific and all four of our meals were excellent… We had two of the specials - pork chop and braised fish and my wife and I had veal. Very happy we made a reservation with open table as the seating was beautiful with large sunny windows overlooking the wooded stream. Great night with family. Thank you.
