Thank you for visiting Kenichi Izakaya Carbondale. An Izakaya is a type of informal Japanese pub. At sake breweries during the late 18th century, people in Japan began using sake kegs as stools, and snacks were served. This small plate menu was designed to encourage sharing amongst friends and family. Food is prepared in multiple kitchens and arrives as it is ready to ensure freshness. We make most of our menu in-house, from scratch, and use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. If no reservations are available, please note that we do have walk in apcae at our bar and sushi bar. We hope to see you!

Born in Salerno, Italy, Angelo was first taught to cook by his mother in their home kitchen. Both of his parents (his father was a local butcher) instilled in him the importance of using only locally gathered meats and fish, growing garden-fresh herbs, and baking breads from scratch. Angelo hand-selects the freshest, seasonal ingredients and artfully prepares them in an inviting setting of warmth and sophistication. A carefully curated list of wines has been masterfully chosen to create an extensive wine list from every region around the world. Whether it’s for an elegant night out or a gathering with family & friends, Chef Angelo Elia looks forward to inviting guests for an authentic Italian Tuscan-style meal in a setting that feels like home.

Ordered the Smoked Pork Chop special & grilled Garlic Scapes with Peanut Romesco. Possibly the best pork chop I've ever had. Definitely the best chop I've had in over 30 years in the Roaring Fork Valley. Simply phenomenal; perfectly cooked. I was a little skeptical about the Grilled Garlic Scapes over Peanut Romesco, but that side dish was equally phenomenal, a perfect blending of flavors. The chef is brilliant. Cote Rotie by the glass? Yes, please! I would go back again today and order the exact same thing. That is how good it was. This really is the best mid-valley restaurant and more than likely the best restaurant value in the entire Roaring Fork Valley. My wife ordered the fried chicken and waffles: delicious! Shrimp & Grits starter was excellent. Great service! Nice outside patio.
