Since 1987, we have been making our vision a reality. Our family's goal is to bring a festive atmosphere and fresh flavors to the fun city of Bastrop. Our inspiration comes from the town of Chapala, one of the beautiful cities that surrounds the largest lake in Jalisco, Mexico. Our authentic cuisine originates from our family recipes from the central and coastal regions of Mexico; Mainly the states of Zacatecas and Jalisco. Together with our extended family and staff, we strive to create a genuine traditional Mexican experience. We offer over 200 tequilas and other agave distilled spirits. From our family to yours, buen provecho and muchas gracias. We welcome our guests with a heartfelt greeting, as we say in Mexico: “Mi casa es su casa.”

Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent. The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

Thank you for the exceptional service! Especially grateful for the hostesses being so kind as our guest count changed several times leading up to the dinner and accommodating us at two tables next to each other and an additional chair brought in for a friend who wanted to stay to just have a drink with us to celebrate my birthday. The service, food, and ambiance were all perfection. Thank you for everything and for making it a beautiful experience for my birthday dinner with my friends!

I took my family for the first time. My wife and I have been to a Brazilian Steak house but this was my daughter’s first time. We had a lot of fun and the food was amazing. My daughter had to learn to pace yourself and enjoy the experience. The cold and hot bar had a large variety of vegetables and it was all wonderful. We plan on going back.

Ema is my favorite restaurant right now, not only because of the lovely ambiance, with greenery everywhere and glowing lighting, but also because of their shareable plates that burst with fresh, vibrant flavors. The spreads steal the show—creamy Sweet Corn Hummus, zesty Spicy Whipped Feta, and mandarin walnut spread with delicious warm pita. Their perfectly grilled kebabs pair beautifully with any of the appetizers. The space feels warm and inviting, and the service is friendly and attentive. Whether for a lively dinner or casual gathering, Ema delivers consistently delicious food in a gorgeous setting. An easy favorite—highly recommended!!
