Jimmy at the James
Jimmy is a contemporary interpretation of the classic pub, with a 1970’s New York twist. The atmosphere is intimate and refined, with lingham wood floors and swank modular furniture – all surrounded by 14’ windows with panoramic views of Midtown, Wall Street, the Hudson River, and the bridges spanning the East River. Unlike typical rooftop bars, Jimmy is a year-round destination. In colder months, guests gravitate towards the inside conversation pit – a freeform lounge area with plush upholstered seating. In warmer weather, the experience spills onto the roof deck, where guests can enjoy chaise lounges, and unparalleled city views.

What Insiders Are Saying
Jimmy is the rooftop bar at The James in Soho, and it’s a good place to find attractive people hanging by a very small pool.
Pleasure to see this view
Awesome view and cool
Vibe! There’s a small pool on rooftop but I usually only see a few people in it. Expensive drinks $19. Service takes a while because it’s always packed.
I made a reservation here for my birthday as their website stated you could use the pool if you have dinner reservations. When I confirmed, I learned this is only true on weekends, although the website states no difference. While trying to cancel, I was urged to reconsider by the staff from the hospitality company contracted by the restaurant, arguing the semantics of the website. Regardless, I wanted to cancel, and they pushed back. Will NEVER recommend this place.
Always fun here, beautiful view, drinks were great. Sometimes door guy can be a bit snippy even this time and I specifically came for my birthday. Service is good and waitresses are very nice drinks are great and prices aren’t too bad for an NYC Rooftop
Great vibe, beautiful views, great service, awesome music but sadly the drinks fell short
Great view of the NYC skyline both uptown and downtown. The drinks were pricey, but not anything abnormal for a rooftop bar. The service was excellent. Everyone was attentive and friendly.
I recommend the pineapple mojito.
We got to Jimmy at the James at around 8 on a Sunday night. The roof deck was full of people, and there was a DJ playing some pop music. Drinks were expensive, $20 each, but the view was awesome. I got a few great pictures there. The pool was only open for about an hour while we were there and closed around 9pm but I got to sit in the pool for at least a little bit. There weren't very many people actually in the pool when I was there, there were more people just dipping their feet in while sitting poolside. Overall a good, one-time rooftop experience.
Amazing view. Would go there again and again and again.
Bellissimo posto non consigliato per la cena non hanno tavoli mangi hamburger in tavoli molto piccoli seduti su un divano ottimo per un aperitivo
Went to go swimming and get drinks for my birthday, and we had called in advance to make sure that the pool would be open at the time of our reservation. We got there about ten minutes early, couldn’t find anyone who worked there, and when we finally found someone they told us that they closed the pool and couldn’t give us a table outside (which we had requested) because we were late for our reservation (we were not, no one was there to help us.) Really crappy experience.
Awesome location, awesome view, limited but good fingerfood.. Always my favorite.
It was fine, all around. Great views. The server spilled my drink on me, didn’t apologize. Told us there wasn’t mayo when there was clearly mayo on the burger. Also, there are sharp, scratchy bushes behind the benches at shoulder length.
The Best sunset in New York. Great site for meet friends.
Great location, good vibes.
Staff should be more polite to their guests, be more welcoming, there’s no need to front. We are here to have a great time - and to spend $$.
Jimmy is a great rooftop bar in NYC. Stunning view at the 1WTC. Cocktails are expensive and served in plastic...
Was a good time, I’ve been before. Bar closed 1/2 hour early on a holiday weekend which was disappointing. Security was a bit rude trying to clear out the guests. Service at the table was a bit slow. Other than that, great place to have a drink with friends and enjoy the views.
My boyfriend and I went to jimmy at the James go see the game one day. Although the television is relatively small, out experience was stellar. It’s your typical rooftop vibe of the city. Just a bit more relaxed and welcoming. The bartenders were sweet, the security and doorman were really funny and personable. Drinks were median priced but delicious! We got a nice view of the city and had a great time
Went for happy hour drinks and the view was nice! It has a good of the Hudson River. Good open air area
Everyone we encountered who worked at this place was rude. The man checking reservations before the elevator was rude to us and to another guy who was a guest at the hotel trying to go up for a drink. The girl who seated us was very rude and snobby. Our server was very rude, too. It was crowded, chaotic, uncomfortable and we did not enjoy our visit. The weather was beautiful, so we left and went to another rooftop bar where it was also crowded, but the staff was cheerful and the service was good. We aren't sure why the staff at Jimmy treated us that way. We were dressed nicely, fit in with the atmosphere and acted appropriately. I wish we had our $50 back that we paid for 2 warm glasses of Chardonnay.
I love Jimmy! The most beautiful NY’s view! I went there 2 times and I would like to return soon! Five stars!!
I love that place! It has amazing view, atmosphere and you can see beautiful sunset. Bartenders are so nice! Great spot
We are from Germany and were visiting NYC for 5 days. This evening we wanted to celebrate into my husbands birthday together with friends and were therefore looking for a bar that is open until at least 1am. We were driving from Columbus Circle all the way down to the James Hotel and even if we had a reservation through Open Table the staff at the door was unfriendly and started to argue with us. We finally made it to the roof top, but drinks were expensive and quarter to 12 they asked us to order the final round of drinks. We told them that we have a birthday to celebrate and they made us order another round and promised that we can stay (because also the homepage said "open until 1am"). 5 minutes past 12 they told us to leave - we had full glasses in front of us with drinks 20$ each. From that moment on they came back to our table every 5 minutes. We finally left very angry. Bad experience! Total rip-off!
The jimmy got style but the price is very high. Dont sure why, jimmy is not only rooftop in town
Jimmy was EVERYTHING! Thanks for the reservation actually meaning something. They had a beautiful spot on the roof waiting for us. It was lovely and I was a star for my LA friends. Didn't hurt that the weather was flawless. Dinner downstairs at David Burke was equally wonderful.
One note, tried to make OpenTable reservations for dinner and system wouldn't allow because I had Jimmy 2 hours earlier. Not sure why you can't have drinks at 7, dinner @9?
Service not very organized. Drinks are overpriced and food is very average. Not enough speakers outdoor so you barely hear the music. The best thing about this place is the drinks, enjoying the nice weather and the sunset view by the pool.
The view is amazing and it was not as busy as some other skybars we went to, so we could really relax and enjoy the view. The cocktails and the food were great.
I made a reservation for 2, table, and we were never seated. Cocktails are not outstanding and food didnt look good. Only thing worth it was the view.
My husband and I came here for our 2nd wedding anniversary and had a blast! I recommend reserving a table or else there aren't many options for seating. Incredible drinks, ambiance, service!
Definitely coming back
Good service, nice view, but ordering wine was a bad idea: both were plain bad, annoying at that price range.

What a view and great staff! Amazing night!
We booked the table for dinner, when we came to the place it was only a bar (with a very nice roof top view). No tables, only lounge seating and bar seating. Not good for food, only for drinks (expensive but very well made)!
You can just go to Jimmy for a photo on the roof top and leave but if you have time grab a cocktail, a cheese platter and enjoy. Great looking bar, busy with after work groups so book to secure a seat and have a champagne cocktail "French kissing in the USA".
What an awesome view of NYC from soho in all directions...you've got to see the outdoor pool.
Our service was absolutely horrible. It Took her 15 minutes to seat is with a reservation, 20 minutes for her to take our drink order, another 20 to get our drinks, and our food took 40 minutes. I also ordered the check 3 separate times and I watched the waitress talk to other employees and was in no rush to get us our check. I had heard great things about this place but I was very disappointed in the service.
Great Roof-Top scene, It's an overall great spot. The food is off the easy, especially Lion Dub the DJ. He know the yard Vibes as well.
It was the same issue as Monarch. We booked a table through Opentable and when we got there, apparently we didn't have a reservation because we didn't call to confirm our table. Good thing the bouncer was gracious enough to let us in since it wasn't crowded yet. Our bartender didn't smile at all while serving us although he did make a good cocktail.
Arrived, no table for us and had to leave. Nice place however, disappointing overall
