Jacques' Brasserie at L'Auberge Chez Francois
Chef Jacques Haeringer
We had a lovely birthday dinner for my husband. We both loved the bread and French Onion soup appetizer. My husband ordered the trout and I ordered the salmon - both very good but not “outstanding” (perhaps a little plain?). We really enjoyed the array of vegetables served with our entrees. It was also very nice to bring a free dessert with a candle.
Jacques' Brasserie is fantastic. Quaint, yet elegant, it has wonderful ambiance. Without exception, everything served was gourmet. The staff was very accommodating and welcoming.
We had a delightful evening with our good friends! The service & food were top notch! It was a little noisy at times which detracted somewhat from an otherwise wonderful evening! Would highly recommend to friends!
I gave my husband the bad news after we left that Jacques' Brasserie was my new favorite restaurant in Virginia!! Everything was absolutely delicious and we will definitely be back for our next special occasion!
Same outstanding quality we have come to expect from L’Auberge.
Servers were very nice, but very slow. Had to keep asking for coffee refills and they were slow despite not being busy. Never got a spoon for coffee. Pizza was served cold on a hot plate. They bright it back to kitchen to reheat, but by then we were not hungry. Had to move tables because of very “loud talker” across small room, but that was not the fault of the restaurant. Disappointing overall. Was very good did brunch downstairs in January. Winter cider mimosa no longer on menu :(.
It was my birthday and they went the extra mile to make me feel special. The service was amazing, food was delicious.
Perfect for us
I have been going to L'Auberge Chez Francois for 40 years now. My husband and I celebrate out anniversary every year since our first anniversary. Up until the past two years, we would go to the restaurant upstairs but now we enjoy the brasserie. I have brought friends for dinner for special birthdays. The service is superb and the food consistently excellent.
Excellent location, food and service
The Lobster Bisque was amazing, the trout was excellent and the desert of creme brule was heavenly
The ambience is quaint and not oppressive, the best part is by far the staff - all of them are friendly, courteous, attentive and charming, it’s worth a visit just to meet them! I ate on the lighter side and it was delicious, especially the bouillabaisse. Slightly noisier than normal owing to a birthday lunch, but this added an air of festivity and was not a distraction. But seriously, the staff are the best.
As always stepping into the Brasserie is a pleasure, like coming home and planning on a good meal. Last visit, started with cocktails, great, shared a bucket of muscles with frites, delicious, ordered main course absolutely marvelous, finished with chez Francois's fabulous soufle for dessert. Service, Ambience and great food leaves one with sublime satisfaction.
My Roquefort Salad and Bouillabaisse was fantastic as was the Seafood Pasta in Lobster Sauce.
Excellent as always! Had a Sat. brunch there and food was great as was the service.
Fantastic food and service!
As always fantastic service fantastic on Beyonce wonderful food and wonderful drinks
It was pouring rain the day my daughter-in-law and I visited Jacques' Brasserie, but once inside we relaxed and enjoyed a leisurely lunch. It was a perfect day for hot mulled wine or spiced cider, and their delicious beef bourguignon was the ultimate comfort food. If only it included more spaetzle! Bread pudding and an opulent chocolate tart rounded out the lunch. The young server did everything right, and being able to talk in a quiet room was a treat. In terms of cost, this is the place to go if you're looking for one or two courses; if you want more, I'd opt for one of the upstairs dining rooms.
A very pleasant, informal space to enjoy a tasty, well prepared meal - the food quality and preparation each were excellent, the service a bit on the slow side, but not unacceptably so. We dined there late on a Sunday afternoon, and likely through a combination of the weather and the government shutdown, did not have to contend with a crowd - nice to have a good meal and pleasant conversation.
We had a wonderful experience. Great food and service
Awkward, inattentive, unthoughtful service. Our worst experience at Jacques in years.
UPDATE: Jacques contacted me the day after my wife and I left this review to discuss our concerns and to get more details. I felt that he was truly concerned about our experience, took our comments to heart, and will make a change. Overall we have had very positive experiences at Jacques and so this experience was definitely surprising. We will definitely be back and look forward to next time.
I had the salad and burger. The salad was refreshing. The frites were very good - probably the best I've ever had. One down side - I asked for a medium burger, I think it was medium rare. Still tasty though.
We always love going to the Brasserie. I love being able to order individually as opposed to a price fix menu. The food and service are always excellent. I love the champagne appertif. It is always hard to choose from the menu! We are going back in Feb and I can hardly wait!
The service is wonderful. I continue to enjoy the Brasserie after all these years.
We are long time fans of the main restaurant, this was our first time to the Brasserie. Food just as good, everything wonderful as usual. I will probably only do the main restaurant, though, as I prefer a more quiet setting, and most of the folks were VERY loud as it is more casual.
One of our favorite restaurants. I love the bouillabaisse and sweet breads, but the whole place is a gem.
Loved the entire evening. Went early and was not crowded. Never felt rushed. Melissa is wonderful. It’s been a favorite spot of ours for sometime.
Very good for the money yet the main dining hall with more dishes included n the price of the main dish is much nicer for special occasions.
This is the place to be for excellent food, service and atmosphere.
Always excellent as always Can't wait for next visit
The staff was outstanding! Food was amazing (but smaller portions with less vegetables than the restaurant upstairs). I’d highly recommend for a date night. We’ll definitely be heading back!
As always, a great meal at Jacques. The service is always great and the food is terrific. great restaurant for a special night out.
Has always, and does, set the standards for service, excellently prepared food, wine selection, setting/ambiance, and value. The basis we use to evaluate all others.
Early Xmas dinner with family
Always such a great experience! The best staff and the best food in a beautiful setting. Thank you!
One of our consistent favorites. Consistent excellent food and service.
We started at the bar and Pam was our bartender. Who was wonderful. Then made our to the table for an amazing dinner. Everything was spectacular. I highly recommend the Brasserie because it didn't feel stuffy. Very relaxed and casual ambience with great service and delicious food.
A classic in Great Falls Va known for fine dining in the restaurant and more casual fare downstairs. It’s a solid go to and if you want to visit but not make it a big expensive event I recommend Jacques downstairs. Food is good, very good for that location. DC offers plenty of options but it’s such a unique spot in Great Falls that I highly recommend going at least once.
Holidays are a great time of year for dining at the Brasserie! Spectaculator ambiance, great service and very solid food.
