This is a true Italian restaurant. Everything is done with care and attention to detail. The waiters are courteous and very professional. I will return as soon as possible.
Best place in Manhattan for Italian. Service is impeccable.
Delicious food and excellent service - very enjoyable dinner.
Absolutely excellent. This place has never disappointed me.
Astonishingly expensive for very ordinary to mediocre food. A small bowl of blueberries for $20!!! Pleasant but pizzeria decor with fake old master paintings.
I wanted a celebratory dinner after my successful cancer surgery. Classic, white tablecloth, Italian restaurants are disappearing from the restaurant fabric of cities across the country. However, they still exist in New York, and I craved veal parmigiana, white jacketed waiters, and a suave maitre d’ offering recommendations and elegance. Il Tinello checked all these boxes.
The food was absolutely delicious, veal parmigiana, trenette al pesto, fegatto di vitello, were all perfect! Desserts were amazing, and the maitre d’ was discreetly charming. I felt blessed, New York City, zero cancer, and an incredible Italian dinner. Che bello!
We went to Il Tinello on a Monday night and it was moderately full which meant we had the full attention of the staff throughout our evening. So good that we decided to return an Weds. They were filled to the brim and then some but they Il Tinello front room and kitchen staff never missed a beat. Food and wine selection were truly awesome. Our new fav in NYC!
Love il tinello. 4 cheese gnocchi is to die for. A little pricey for the portions but worth every bite. Service is outstanding and they will bend over backwards and make you anything to eat. Highly recommend for a date night, when family is in town or to celebrate
Absolutely wonderful! My mom and I dined here for a girls night out in NYC. Italian is our go-to and my mom claimed her veal parm was the BEST she’s ever had. Great experience, friendly waitstaff, excellent food, and nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
This place is the best Italian restaurant in the city. We absolutely love this place and recommend it.
Anytime we’re visiting NYC we make sure to reserve a spot at Il Tinello, it’s become a favorite. The bar area is small, but cozy and the drinks are made well. The waiters are friendly and attentive but not intrusive. We have always enjoyed the meals we’ve selected and have never been rushed through them. They also make a great Caesar Salad table aide.
Always great! The service is outstanding. The restaurant is very accommodating to changes in sauces and substitutions .
I was so happy to be able to celebrate my birthday at Il Tinello this year! The food is incredible and the staff treat every customer with the utmost respect and gratitude to make the experience unlike any other. They even sang "Happy Birthday" to me! It may be expensive, but it's worth every penny, from the dedicated service to the delicious food, including the best dirty martini I've had in a very long time!
Favorite NYC restaurant!
Upon entering the building we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. The service was amazing and everyone was helpful and knowledgeable. The food was the best outside of Italy! It was a wonderful relaxing environment to catch up with my friend. We left happy and raving about our meal!
The food and service is always amazing. The food was delicious. Love it every time. Thank you.
In the city for a conference. Very cool table side Caesar salad prep. Food was very good. Beautiful atmosphere and great location in Midtown.
Quality of food was outstanding and service was top notch.
We had high expectations of this restaurant based on all the five star reviews. The service was attentive and very good. We loved the ambiance. Our food overall was pretty good with the exception of the gnocchi. The gnocchi was just undercooked dough. We should have sent it back but did not. We had a decent experience but just expected it to be better. Hopefully it was just an off night.
Was a wonderful evening
Absolutely fantastic. Everything was perfect: service, food and ambiance. Will return next time I’m in NYC.
Everything was Outstanding. Surpassed every expectation. Highly recommend it.
The service was incredible. The atmosphere was high class with a very nice ambience. The food was very good with detailed touches that are not found today in most restaurants. A wonderful dining experience.
Excellent all around dining experience. Superior service and wonderful food. We had a wonderful dinner here and would definitely return on our next trip.
We love this Italian Resturant and return every time we are in NYC. Service is excellent. Wine by the glass is very good and reasonable. We shared the antipasti that is greasy and displayed on a trolley. Our entrees were a veal saltimbocca Florentine and chicken picata. Both excellently prepared and presented. Highly recommend.
On our first visit, the food was absolutely excellent and the presentation beautiful.
We don't know if the dinner on Sunday was so crowded that the food was rushed,
but the Veal Milanese was oily and not that of a fine restaurant. Perhaps we should
have sent it back but we were all tired and it was getting late.
The Pasta Carbonara was also served in a poor fashion.
From a must return place to a don't bother in one evening.
The best service, best food, best company. Can’t wait to come back!
Although the wait staff was very attentive, the Maitre d is obnoxious and condescending. Unless you appear to be old money rich you will not feel welcome here. The food was good, but not great and certainly not worth the price.
Dined at I’ll Tinello on a week day. At 7:00 pm there were several tables filled with larger parties, but the sound level was acceptable. I had the Spaghetti Carbonara and friend had their chicken special. Both were very good. The carbonara was very rich so I couldn’t eat it all. We we just visiting NYC and had no way to keep the leftover. I wish I could have taken it with me for lunch the next day. Oh well
Also had some sort of chocolate cake that was outstanding. That’s the reason I could not finish my meal. I wanted dessert so had to cut down some how.
The serving staff were very professional. They treat you as if you were their repeat customer. It is so delightful to dine in this sort of atmosphere. And prices are in line with other Italian restaurants in NYC
I would recommend this Italian restaurant to anyone.
Baked clams are best in city, oyster Rockefeller was great. Chicken was mind blowing.
We dine at Il Tinello on every visit to New York. The food is great, the service friendly and unhurried. If the ingredients are available, they are happy to make something not on the menu. I especially like the cannelloni as it is not frequently found in Italian restaurants and is so time consuming to prepare at home. A nice wine list (if a bit pricey). Complimentary after dinner drinks were a pleasant surprise. Love the place and have recommended it to friends who have gone back two nights in a row while visiting NYC!
Always a great experience.
Il Tinello is a treat. Great food and incredible service. An anniversary treat for us and well enjoyed. If you want a special evening or are a "master of the universe" this is a great venue. BTW Caesar Salad just yummy.
What a delightful restaurant! The food was amazing (we all loved the burrata appetizer and the veal saltimbocca in particular). The service was attentive without being smothering. The restaurant was not noisy, which is something I appreciate more and more. We were able to converse without raising our voices. I would definitely come back!
Excellent, excellent and excellent
I have loved Il Tinello since I heard Regis Phillbin talk about pasta ala Regis on air. I asked my husband to
take me to your restaurant and after that we were sold. Since my husband died 5 years ago, I have not
stayed over in New York City until last night. It was one of my best friends 70th birthday and she ask me to
see Hugh Jackman wiyh her. Her husband got us the tickets so I thought that I should treat her to my
favorite restaurant and she is Italian. Thank you for preparing a wonderful meal and please do not judge my
typing or computer skills. I never used the computer until Lincoln died.
Fabulous all Around. Reveal Montebello MA scallops delicious. The burradah fabulous. But the most unusual and special was the squash flowers stuffed with ricotta. The staff is warm and attentive. Special evening.
Simply the best Italian restaurant in NYC as far as my wife and I are concerned. It's not a large establishment, but the service is impeccable and friendly and the food is always delicious. If you order a bottle of wine, be prepared to spend over $200 per person. Not for everyday dining, but a great choice for a special occasion, or when you simply want to splurge on a dinner.
