Charming midtown Times Square, Hell's Kitchen italian. Richly themed decor, service was fast, efficient a d considering we had 10 in our group, everything came out together and tasted great. We had a wide range of pasta dishes, seafood and appetizers. All were tasty, portions were perfect not too big or too small. Good value for their wines and overall a very reasonable total bill for the location and food quality.
Quick bite to eat pre show. Great place. Will go again.
We’ve been before. It’s dependable. Good location. No bread with meal in an Italian restaurant was different.
Open Table does not show that they open at Non. I walked in for a 11:45 reservation whi8ch Open Table took. There was no one there. A person came out and said we could not wait inside until 12 noon. I asked if he saw the reservation and he said no, he didn't even look.
Italian? Well, maybe 60 per cent. Nice environment, but spoiled by a very loud neighbouring bar. Service lukewarm.
The service was good, but the food was not. Menu very limited, which is OK in most situations. My chicken parm was visibly burnt, but still served. No good answer from the server about redoing the plate. The margarita pizza was not cooked correctly and tasted horrible. Its really hard to screw up a pizza. We've eaten at a number of other Italian restaurants in the area for its location across the street from the theater we were going too. I would not eat there again nor recommend it.
We had the prix fixe dinner and were amazed by the quality and deliciousness. The service was basic and fast, but the food was outstanding. Roast chicken, orzo, key lime pie all freshly prepared. Will be back!
The food was tastey but the dish i ordered was Tagletelle Bolognese but i received linguini with meatballs.
Overall eh! Food was ok but overpriced. Service was slow.
Overall a very disappointing experience - especially with so may wonderful options in the Theater District. Reservation time was ignored, putting pressure on us to eat a quicker pace than desired before catching a show. Service was very friendly, however, we needed to request things multiple times before we got them (i.e. bread - which arrived hard and inedible). Food taste was bland for 3 of the 4 diners - the only item which looked great was the pizza.
Good place near Time Square -- but they are very poor at managing reservation times. We were sat 35 minutes after our reservation time, and we watched them turn away another 4-6 groups that HAD reservations but that they couldn't accommodate anywhere near their reservation time. (BTW, they did get us out on time for our show, even though we were seated at our table late). So I'd recommend this place, but either book a reservation time with PLENTY of extra time before a show, or go when you don't have someplace else to be afterwards.
Great little place to drop in before a show right on 8th ave close to broadway and all the other typical chaos in times square. I would go to IIForno's again. The food was good and the drinks were generous.
Usually the food and service are very good but when we went on a tuesday night, instead of our usual friday, the service was slow and poor. Food sat on a counter before it was delivered to our table. It was not of the usual tasty quality either. Although we had planned enough time, and informed the waitress that we had theater, we had to leave without dessert as the service was so slow. Disappointing.
Super fast and friendly service. Food was great. We had the pizzas.
We were about 10 min late for our reservation, but there were only a few tables occupied since it was only 5:00. We were going to catch a show so needed a quick easy meal. The host just pointed to our table, so we sat ourselves. After about 5-10 minutes we got up to get our own menus... after about 15 we told the waiter we needed to order asap and to bring the check with our meal.. we made it, and the food was good. Not great. Wouldn’t recommend before a show, which is too bad given the proximity to the theatre we were visiting.
The restaurant does not open till noon, so we stood outside for a while. Almost gave up, but was glad we stayed. Food was excellent. Service was a little slow, but we made our show curtain. Highly recommend. Nothing fancy, just really good authentic Italian foor.
Had a reservation for 6pm. After waiting twenty minutes a table came open and the hostess asked to wait five more minutes rather than take this two top table (there were two of us!). No apology for the wait. The food was fine, but the service was not. They seemed overbooked and overwhelmed. Menu is also quite limited. Not a bad place, but don't come here if you want to grab a quick dinner before a show.
We ate there before a show around the corner. EverythIng was great, Omar was a perfect waiter. My husband and I each got the prix fixe but didn’t have time for dessert course. Omar told us to come back after the show for it so we did. And he graciously served us our dessert 2 hours later! This will be my go-to pre-theatre restaurant! Lovely ambiance too!
Perfect for pre-theater dinner. Service was prompt and professional. Two of us enjoyed the prix fixe menu and our friend ordered separately. The chicken that arrived with the prix fixe pasta was tasty and perfectly done. We all enjoyed the our dinner and the ambience (a bit overdone countrified Italy decor) but it was fun and the noise level was unusual in that we could speak in a normal voice considering the restaurant was nearly full. We will be back .
We had a reservation before theater and it was the perfect place for dinner. Food was fresh and quite good. Portions were ample-and the service was attentive-we got out on time for the show.
Prices were good and overall a great dining experience.
Entire experience was great. The atmosphere was exactly what my family needed after a long day of traveling and sightseeing. Our waiter was fantastic!
I'm frequently in the theater district and have yet to find such a good meal at a reasonable price with such accommodating service. I always order from the prix fixe theater menu and have never been disappointed.
It was my parents 61st wedding anniversary so we did dinner and a show!
Over 15 minutes for anyone to come to our table to ask for drinks. Then felt rushed to order and get out. They weren’t listening when asking questions and felt like anytime we spoke to them we were annoying them. The place is cute inside and the food was good.
Food was good but service was very slow and not very attentive even though we had a 4:45 reservation-waited 45 minutes for meal
I generally tend to avoid theatre district restaurants, but I was pleasantly surprised by Il Forno. The ambience was very pleasant and the food was very good. I would definitely return when going to the theatre. It is perfectly located.
Pizza wasn’t good and the red wine had a weird taste
Jam-packed restaurant at pre-theater time and for very good reasons:
The food was absolutely delicious! The thin brick-oven pizza was perfect and the lamp chops were cooked to perfection and so tasty!
We will definitely be back for more but maybe after theater this time ;)
place was nice, food was good value but hostess was useless and clueless...get someone who knows what they are doing, and get people to vacate their tables in time for someones reservations, instead we had a clueless hostess who was highly irritating and we waiting for 20 minutes for our table after our reservation time.
Prix Fixe menu had 3 excellent choices and the portions were generous. They were very busy on Saturday night before theater. When the table they had for us was only for two, they offered bar seating and the service was excellent.
Food and Service was good!! Great European ambiance every meal was great!! Would definitely recommend it before or after show or in between.
Nice space, reasonably priced, good food.
the cannolis were superb.
Great find for pre or post theater. Fun watching the people parade from their front window. Food excellent Italian fare!
Excellent find in the theatre district, from fun food to full entrees with a great staff. You will be very happy with the prices given its in the heart of the theatre district. The same food a block into restaurant row and prices go up 20 to 25 percent. Its not posh but the atmosphere is nice.
sat us in the bar adjacent to the restaurant bc they were over booked. then once we sat, they told us we only had 45 mins due to another reservation. being in theater district wasn’t expecting great food but this was one of the worst i’ve had in a long time. “truffle” mac and cheese had no truffle - just slabs of what seemed to be bad parmesan cheese.
Il Forno made the night special. I had not seen my college friends in 4 years. The night was perfect. Food was fantastic. Dessert was to die for. We’ll definitely be back!
So delicious and the service was impeccable.
We made reservations for our family of five for after a show. What a cute little spot! The staff were wonderful when they greeted and sat us, but there weren’t any extras that made us want to return. There was no bread for the table, no one came back to ask if our meals were good; our drinks were never refilled. The pasta tasted like it came from a box and the sauce tasted like it came from a jar. Someone should work on making the dishes a little more special because the people were kind (maybe not as attentive as they should be, but nice!) and the place is really adorable!
