Hudson Garden Grill at the New York Botanical Garden
Featuring the bounty of New York's Hudson Valley and the surrounding hills and waters, the menu embodies the restaurants dedication to partnering with family farmers for ingredients grown, raised, and foraged locally-- with exquisite results!
Potato not fully cooked (part of the Trout dish)
Omelette hard and dry
I must do when spending the day at the gardens. Food and drink selections are good. Service was excellent as well. Can be a little pricey but portions are generous. Will make reservations for my future visits.
The food was very good, creative, flavorful and presentation was excellent . Service was great and the music from the Brazilian band was a bonus.
OK Food, Pretty Dining Room. Big windows, bright interior. Busy staff on a Sunday afternoon.
Beautiful space & ambiance and delicious locally sourced food!
Having such a lovely venue with amazing food and wine available to bundle with a visit to this beautiful destination makes for a wonderful combination. We try to go as often as we can to both the restaurant and the gardens.
Food was OK (whipped ricotta was great). Service was terrible. Seated at time of reservation. Didn't even have water served until we went to complain to hostess that we had not been waited on after 15 minutes.
The patio seating is a little bit of heaven. A wonderful lunch, truly memorable
Lovely setting, excellent service. Our server Richardo, was friendly but appropriately professional. My group started with the tomato & burrata, which was excellent. We then enjoyed the trout and the crabcakes. Both were cooked to prefection and the portions were just enough. My friends and I love this restuarant and go as often as possible.
Wonderful setting for lunch. I highly recommend a reservation. I've only ever ordered the specials and I've never been disappointed.
It’s a nice environment for dining. I missed the beautifully arranged dessert and appetizers they used to offer. Food is always nicely presented.
It was cute, pricier than it should be but I understand that you’re paying for the setting, and the good atmosphere, it feels finer than a casual restaurant but it doesn’t really deliver fine dining quality food nor does it offer that quality of drink options. It’s decent nonetheless, I’d go back, the overall experience was positive, great service from the waiter, and it is beautiful.
Hudson Garden Grill never fails to satisfy when seeking a meal in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Food is 1st rate - presented well and delicious. Staff is very knowledgeable, and friendly while being professional.
Love this restaurant. Only problem in praising it as much as I do is that popularity could diminish my own enjoyment. Reservations are handled really well, so that crowds are contained. Noise level is never an issue. Quality of food is always excellent, as is the helpful service.
This restaurant is my go-to whenever I visit the NYBG with friends. On my many other sojourns to my "backyard," I go to the cafe by the visitor's entrance. But the Grill is always a delight and never fails to meet high expectations. This time, because of high traffic, we made it just at 3pm, 15 minutes late and at the time the kitchen is scheduled to close. They accommodated us; we spared the kitchen by ordering the cheese and charcuterie platter which, bless their wonderful hearts, is accompanied by a bread basket for each person. Finally! A kitchen that appreciates the need for bread with this selection.
Aside from the food and service, always good and often very, very good - there's the special ambiance: a lovely, simple interior marked by large hangings depicting Nature scenes and with chandeliers that I have been coveting from first sight - a coolness offset by the beauty of the scene outside its large windows. Green, lush evergreens towering high. What could be better?
I come here often and the food, service and ambience is consistent.
We could not have been more satisfied with the Hudson Garden Grill. We suggest that rilled nosh platter for three, the octopus, the avocado fries and the crab cakes. We found that for three, ordering a bottle was more cost effective. Perfect service and lovely ambience but this is a place for a special meal as the prices are above what we thought was appropriate.
The meal was very uneven. The corn soup was excellent, but the Hudson Garden notches came with bread that was so stale that it was almost impossible to chew. When the hostess came around and I told her about it, rather than quickly bringing more bread oh, she took away the entire plate, and came back 10 minutes later. By that time, I just ended up sharing my husband's dish and told her to take it back. Service was incredibly slow and uneven.
Been here many times. A NYBG visit would not be complete without a stop at HGG! Absolutely love this restaurant. The space is gorgeous. The menu is always changing which makes it new and interesting. The food is delicious. One of our lunch guests was a vegan and our waitress was so lovely in helping to suggest the different options from the menu. Highly recommend!
The Hudson Grille is always a great experience. The food was fantastic. The service was excellent. The ambiance was absolutely wonderful. Overall a really fantastic experience!
Had the pleasure of sitting at the counter facing the open kitchen. Watching the talented staff prepare the super fresh food was really nice. The specials targeted at the current exhibition (Brazil oriented) were terrific. While pricey, the food is worth it. The atmosphere is open and airy. The staff is so pleasant despite being very busy.
Fabulous setting, great food, extremely personable staff
I am a regular visitor to the Hudson Grill and have always enjoyed my meal. And frequently take my guests. However, this past Saturday I was greatly disappointed in the quality of the food. The Brazilian sausage was just a hot dog served on top of a hot dog bun.Did not even come close to the description.
Lovely little restaurant inside NYBG that continues the garden theme with welcoming enormous windows. Coming from CT we like to start with lunch and meander throughout the afternoon in the gardens. Don't miss!
Excellent food, beautiful relaxing atmosphere
Excellent food and service
Farm to table the right approach. Meals were all pleasing to the eye and palate. First time at the NY Botanical Gardens and this is the way to spend a wonderful day with friends.
This is my second visit to Hudson Garden Grill. This time I not only had the opportunity to order from the standard menu but also from the special menu associated with the exhibit. Fantastic food and service.
Our server impeccable service. The dinning room was light and airy and lovely. The lovely large arched windows and chandeliers only added to the dining pleasure! The food was everything promised on the menu!!!
Delicious fresh food
So glad “old menu “ is back,& it’s great.
Appreciate the Manager attention among the diners, making sure everything is going well.
Will be back again,soon!
Love this restaurant
But... sad that the buffalo cauliflower taken off the menu
Bring it back please
This restaurant is excellent. The menu had a good range of items carefully prepared. The dining room decor was relaxing. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu choices and was careful to explain the choices I could make due to a food allergy. This gem of a restaurant is showcased in a breathtaking setting NYBG.
Excellent service & wonderful food ! We always love coming here to eat and see The Gardens.
A delicious meal in the restaurant is a must do during a visit to the Garden.
We had a very pleasant meal. Our waitress was outstanding
Every dish was beautifully plated and absolutely delicious. Attentive, polite servers.
Everything was outstanding, but the price was high for lunch. The chilled pea soup was amazing, the bbq chicken salad the best I’ve ever had, the monkey bread interesting but not great. Nice and cool inside on a hot day, nice decor and great service.
A wonderful lunch - delicious food, tasty beverages, and fabulous desserts. We will be back soon. Thank you.
A great place to dine with friends after a nice walk at the Garden.
