Hudson Garden Grill at the New York Botanical Garden
Featuring the bounty of New York's Hudson Valley and the surrounding hills and waters, the menu embodies the restaurants dedication to partnering with family farmers for ingredients grown, raised, and foraged locally-- with exquisite results!
Avery special secret!! I have been going here for a couple of years and it doesn’t disappoint. Extremely consistent and a change of menu so it isn’t boring!
I would recommend it. The price was a bit high but overall it was good. I would go again.
We had an excellent experience with food and atmosphere!!! ... and it was plenty of fun for our 2 year old. The artichoke dish and burger were phenomenal.
It's a lovely lunch at a lovely place. Enjoy the garden and then eat healthy but delicious food at this restaurant. I loved the ginger cranberry spritz.
When I made reservation It did not state that this was seating in enclosed porch and not in restaurant. For me the ambiance of gracious dining in restaurant is important
This is my second time visiting the Hudson Garden Grill either before or after visiting the NYBG. Dinner was tasty and the atmosphere is nice. The only problem we had is we arrived early for our reservation at 5:30 and were seated outside with a whole LOT of kids. Normally children are not a problem but we were doing a date night and they are not so romantic. Anyway the hostess was happy to reseat us and our server was very nice. Good date night spot.
Outstanding meal (vegetarian and gluten free for me; chicken and veggies for my friend). So fresh and delicious. Perfect end after our Train Show event!
The Chicken Cobb Salad had overcooked fried chicken. The omelette was overcooked and tasteless.
Ambiance & window view was wonderful, servers were friendly and polite.
Amazing!!! Now this is my favorite place
Great spot for lovely mid-day meal at one of NYC’s gems!
Varied menu, including healthy food choices, reasonable prices considering venue, food quality
We went for lunch after viewing the NYBG Annual Train Show. A Friday afternoon. When we got there - only a few tables were occupied. By the time we left - all tables taken. Noise level acceptable (my husband is hearing impaired so always cognizant of noise). Austin’s hamburger delicious he said. And I enjoyed my Quinoa salad with grilled shrimp. Ricardo was our waiter - he is so friendly and helpful. Just wish we lived closer - we would go more often.
Menu changes with the season. Also invented. Would suggest making reservations in advance especially on weekends or member days. Seating has been expanded to the outside (with heaters) in the colder months.
Always love it there . . . however one table brought a dog in and was in someone's lap during lunch. My wife is allergic - we moved to the farthest table - but they still shouldn't bring dogs. And it wasn't a "service" dog.
Wonderful dining after viewing a terrific Holiday Train Show.
Service was excellent. Food choices were a little different. Food we ate was tasty. Loved soup , monkey bread, and dessert.
I have and I would recommend Hudson Garden Grill. It is a perfect place to end a visit to the garden. I have been there for cocktails as well as celebrating a 5 year old’s birthday after the train show. Each time it has been delightful. Great staff, extremely accommodating and not to noisy. Treat yourself, it will not disappoint !
We are members of NYBG and always enjoy dining at the Grill.
Lovely setting, varied menu. We lucked out this time with an excellent server, highly professional, mindful of kids and timing, yet graciously friendly. Expensive for what you get.
As expected the food was delicious My only complaint is that we ordered the warm chocolate cake. We we warned that there would be a 10-15 minute delay. When it still hadn't come out 30 minutes later we asked again. This time a manager came to the table and told us that she had removed the cake from our bill but that we could still have it, if we would like, but there would be another 10-15 minute delay. Apparently no one had told our waiter, and he hadn't asked, when the last batch of cakes had come out of the oven. We decided not to wait. I can recommend the cheese and charcuterie plate. The cheeses are meats were really delicious. Also my granddaughter enjoyed the clam chowder and my daughter enjoyed the burrata. I wasn't as thrilled with the braised artichokes. That really was more like an artichoke soup. We all enjoyed the Hudson burger. We would definitely go back. Be sure to make a reservation and the earlier the better as service starts to slow as the restaurant gets busier.
We love this restaurant and our 3 and 6 year old grandsons also love it
I hate to give you a bad review. I've been coming here for years. Unfortunately the waiter we had, Ricardo. was very rude. He rushed us out and never even offered us dessert or even coffee. He told us he needed the table. Poor business behavior. Highly recommend you work on your wait staff. They don't even know how to open a bottle of wine.....
The ambience was very nice and festive. Our server was very helpful. Their specialty mixed drinks were unique and excellent. We all enjoyed the cheese plater. I would definitely dine there again.
Excellent service. One guest was accidentally given the wrong entree which was immediately remedied. Good was enjoyed by all 7 of us. Would definitely recommend.
Slightly disappointed with the quality of food which came out very quickly but was not hot.
4 entrees served together; fifth was served several minutes later.
2 people in party ordered burgers: one medium rare, one medium well. The burgers were served to the wrong diners and it wasn’t discovered until they started eating. When this was pointed out to the waiter, he apologized, but failed to offer replacement entrees. A comp glass of Prosecco was served to one of the two.
Excellent meal. Drinks a little pricey but good.
Great way to spend an afternoon!
We have been going to Hudson Grill after The Train Show for 2 years now and we love it. The menu is always special with some hints for everyone. I had the grilled octopus and it was amazing!
This is our 2nd visit and ironically we were seated at the same exact table! The food is mediocre, but you have a great waitstaff. I like eating here because it’s in the garden.
Food was not hot, strange mix of labors in the artichoke pesto appetizer. Charcuterie board was the beat thing we ordered, but the toast and crackers served with it were mediocre at best. Charger $30 corking fee for a bottle that didn’t even need to be corked. Would not return.
The restaurant is simply amazing. Ricardo, our waiter was awesome and made our day! The décor is beautiful and the menu offers farm to table options for a all. You will not be disappointed!
The restaurant is a great place to relax between strolls though the NYBG. The food is good, and the service is excellent.
Miscommunication between Open Table and the front desk listed our reservation for the following day. The hostess apologized and found us a table in spite of the restaurant being very busy.
Enjoyable lunch for four people. My husband & I enjoyed an excellent salad & pasta dish. Our friends enjoyed a good hamburger but the lobster roll was quite small for the price.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would return in the future.
My entree was served before I was finished my soup. Felt very rushed.
My friends and I had a delightful lunch yesterday at the Hudson Garden Grill. Food was great and service was excellent.
The Hudson Garden Grill never disappoints. The food is delicious and the menu has great selections. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The restaurant is lovely and resides inside the Botanical Garden. We love wandering around the Gardens and then eating in this restaurant. It's a great experience.
The ambiance here is wonderful. We had chick pea fries which were delicious. Braised artichoke was just okay. Trout was very good but the lobster roll should be taken off the menu. It was awful. Warm chocolate cake is excellent. Staff were very nice but inexperienced. They brought our main course before we were finished with the appetizers, they took away our plates without asking if we were finished and in two cases we weren’t finished. Otherwise it is a lovely place and we had a wonderful time.
Overall good. Portion sizes a little on the small side. Service was ok but not great (they only brought 4 pieces of bread even though there were 6 of us at the table - was hard to get their attention to get a refill).
The ambiance was very pleasant. Loved the Christmas Wreaths. Our waitress was very sweet. We has the pear frizz drink which was amazing! We split the burger which was cooked to perfection and the lump crab cake. Overall was excellent dinner before the Holiday Train show. We will definitely recommend the Hudson Grill to our friends and look forward to our next visit!
