Family owned and managed Italian eatery serving authentic multi regional Italian cuisine in a cozy home-like atmosphere on the coast of Malibu, California
Always amezing food and wonderful service;)
All of the employees were extremely friendly. The food was delicious. Would highly recommend and will be going back.
The food and staff were excellent, but the noise level was a bit high due to all the dogs barking. Customers needed to better manage their dogs.
Unfortunately the food wasn’t good. The pasta didn’t taste homemade as advertised. We ordered the whole fish and it didn’t look or taste fresh and I found a hook in my food. The Caesar salad was basic. The whole experience was very subpar and underwhelming for an authentic Italian cuisine restaurant.
Nice place and very good service but simply overpriced. Too bad. Maybe if more affordable, they could get more customers.
We had a wonderful experience at Gravina. Our waitress, Val, was incredible. Our meals were superb and the desserts rounded out a perfect evening. To quote a phrase, "I'll be back".
This was the best Italian restaurant. It is 100% authentic. The risotto and ravioli were amazing. It was worth the price listed. 100% coming back.
Wonderful family run No. Italian spot just south of Zuma on PCH. Friendly and food is excellent. If I lived closer I would eat there every week.
Love this place. Owner makes us always feel like we are his best friends. Great pasta, veal, buratta, bread and wine! Be back soon on my next visit to Malibu.
Quite simply the best Italian food in LA and Ventura Counties!
Grilled octopus with a recommended bottle of wine is a great place to start. Generous food portions and fresh but somewhat over-salted. I had the osso bucco which had vey good flavor but was too salty for my taste
I was running late and called ahead to let them know and they kept the kitchen open for us so we could eat. The staff was amazing and friendly.
Excellent food and service!
It’s a wonderful restaurant. Service was great, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Food is great
Excellent trattoria style food, with great servers, especially Nico! It's always a great time at Gravina!
Best food ever
Great location at the corner of Kanan Dume Road and the PCH. My white fish (the real deal, from Whitefish Bay in Michigan) was just as delicate and flaky as that fish is supposed to be -- great choice to get beyond the usual Branzino. Service staff friendly and knowledgeable. Ask them to turn up the music if the road noise interferes (which it shouldn't b/c everyone is stopped at the intersection), it's not a big place, so you'll still be able to talk.
Always perfect at Gravina!
Really Disappointing. We hadnt been here since before Covid-19. Both the food and the service have gone down hill. The salads were good. The Tagliatelle Bolognese was inedible. At the price we paid, for the meal, its a ripoff. This restaurant was very good pre-pandemic. At this point, I would say that management neither cares about quality or service. It wasnt even worth mentioning to anyone since it was impossible to get anyone to come by the table. The heaters dont work on the patio. Steer Clear.
Nice little Italian restaurant at the base of Kanan and PCH. Ample indoor and outdoor seating where the staff follow all local COVID rules. Great selection of wines, pasta favorites, steak, chicken and sea food. The location never disappoints with a celeb sighting as a bonus!
We ate outdoors and the weather is perfect. Along PCH it gets noisy sometimes. 3 out of 4 dishes were very good to excellent. The wine was good. You should have the pastas and pizza. The pizza is dreamy- we think it may be the quality of items they use. We always enjoy our meals here.
Food delicious & service great! Staff very helpful with our food & wine selections.
We love Gravina’s. The food and service was excellent but they seated our group of ten in a narrow, dark hallway between the large outdoor dining area and the main indoor dining room. We were on the corner right next to street side and the traffic was incredibly loud. The area was so narrow our guests nor the servers could walk around the table. In order for our guests to go to the restroom etc everyone had to get up on that side of the table. We were very disappointed in what otherwise would been a wonderful experience.
the pics online are MISLEADING we ate in a parking lot
Great local place. Food was excellent and the service was great. Entire family enjoyed it.
The veal ravioli was delicious, portion is a bit to small. We asked for bread, unfortunately the bread was stale
There’s no point in making a reservation because they totally disregard it even if you do. Came here to celebrate our first anniversary. We were very excited to try this place out. We made a reservation and even called ahead to inform them of the occasion and order a dessert ahead of time to surprise my partner. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and seated. After ordering and receiving our food, we were never checked on again. We had to flag down a staff member for service. And even after that, we were still ignored. We ran out of water. Waited for our dessert, which to remind you, we called ahead for as an anniversary surprise. No dessert ever came. In fact, we were left waiting for our waiter to offer us dessert options, despite having called ahead. When we finally gave up on dessert, we yet again had to flag someone down to ask for our check. The gentlemen who we presume to be the owner had no problem standing by our table waiting for us to pay the very overpriced bill; this was the most attention we got all evening. We are really disappointed with the service. We realized in the middle of our meal that we also were not offered bread. We overheard from the table next to us that the first round of bread is on the house. As for taste of food; to each their own but I personally thought the sauce on my pasta tasted like spaghetti-o's. Our lamb was undercooked and then burnt. And dessert... well, we never got it. The octopus salad was quite good. Also, is $6.00 for flat water!!! This place is very overpriced and service is terrible. We will sadly not be coming here again, especially to celebrate a special occasion.
This was my first visit to Gravina and I can't wait to go back! Amazing service with charming staff! The best bolognese sauce I have ever tasted, including in Italy! The scampi past was amazing as well. The torte della nonna was delicious for dessert. It was extremely delicious. 5 stars all the way!
Table was great. Food delicious and authentic Italian! Love
Amazing food! Staff was courteous and made me feel like I was in Italy with their welcomes. Close to the beach with a beautiful location and plenty of space inside. Really enjoyed our time there.
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday dinner. Having been to Italy, she said that Gravina was the most authentic Italian restaurant she’s been to in the US. Amazing food with good portions for the price. On a Monday night, we were the only ones there at 5pm. So nice, quiet, and romantic. The service was perfectly paced and not rushed. However, we were never sitting there waiting for long for anything. I highly recommend Gravina Malibu!
The whole branzino was delicious. Along with a salad, it was a big enough portion for 2 for dinner. All of the staff were friendly, professional and very attentive.
BEST restaurant in the area! We were so impressed with the food and service. Tasted like it was straight from Italy -even better. We 10000% recommend
Wonderful place to eat. Outstanding service from the owner to the busboy all around great place for a family celebration, date night or a relaxing meal...
Owner greeted us and seated us. Then took a while to get our initial service. Was never offered bread which we thought was odd for an Italian restaurant. Place was quiet no background music. Food was great
Some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had! The flavors were amazing on everything!
Second time there and it was just as outstanding as the first time. Fast, accurate and professional service and the best Italian food in the state as far as we are concerned. Took our kids and our niece this time and they echoed our sentiments.
Tasty, well-prepared authentic Italian with friendly and competent service. The calamari fritti and burrata were perfect starters, followed by the delicious special pasta dish, tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms (it came with shaved truffles and our waiter graciously arranged for tableside addition of the truffles when told one of our party was allergic).
Our three entrees - lamb chops off the menu and the pork chop and sea bass specials, were all delicious.
What a wonderful experience. The food was excellent. On top of that, we had a party with allergies and they were extremely accommodating. Service was great too. We look forward to going again.
Food was a solid 3- disappointed that tap water comes in an unmarked water and charges you $6 for it but it’s whatever. Bread, not complimentary and even when paid for, came out bland and not tasting how fresh authentic Italian bread should be.
Service- Here is why I rate so poorly. I was seated by a young man, who might be the owners son or nephew. Throughout the course of my meal, not once was I asked for a refill of water, how was my dinner, or if there was anything else he can get us. We had more conversation with the person who cleaned up our table and he asked everything that a waiter should be asking.
At the end of the service, I tipped over $35 dollar for an already overpriced and under-portioned meal which I gave in cash to the table cleaner. The owner comes chasing after us outside saying service was not included. I explained I gave a tip but he said we did not tip the person who sat us down.
Why? He never provided service or followed up with us. He kept saying that they live off tips. How about instead of having a lazy son/nephew there to collect tips just for sitting and charging people, you give him a liveable wage or teach him the importance of providing great service?
Never in my life had I had an owner come after me demanding I pay tip. This left a completely sour taste in my mouth and never again will I ever come into this establishment again.
Look at all the 1 star and 2 star reviews. Many have experienced the same type of service.
