The moment I walked into the restaurant I felt the ambience engulf me in a soothing way. It’s beautiful and the wait staff are of good demeanor as well. The food was not only delicious but also decorative in a way that was pleasing to the eye. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone dining in downtown Los Angeles! Superb! More

Perfect place to lounge and have a few drinks. It was my sons b-day and the brought a small slice of chocolate muse. Unexpected. It was very nice. My only issue was the parking attendants. Very rude. Had to snap back. Very disrespectful. More

Grabbed lunch and was surprised by the menu that offered more than the usual farm to table blah blah blah. The food was fresh and interesting. We ordered the beet salad appetizer and shared it. I had the angry chicken sandwich which wasn’t so angry (I expected hot n spicy but it wasn’t)The service was great although the bar was slow to fulfill my beer order (it was a draft). Not sure why as it wasn’t busy at 12:30. The space is cool with a nod to kitchen works and farmhouse chic. The restaurant did fill up around 1pm with lots of office workers so there was a good buzz about the place. I would def go again More

Great happy hour menu. Some dishes like the karaage were amazing. Some waiter recommendations like brussel sprouts was so-so. A different kind of restaurant from the usual American style. Very pleasant experience. Don't know if I would come if not for Happy Hour. More

I have lived in Downtown LA for few years now and was looking for a nice date spot for my wife and I that was a little bit closer to our home in the Historic Cor by Spring and 5th. I had been to Kai previously , but it has certainly gotten better since my last visit about 8 months ago. They're manager Liz was very gracious and made us feel extremely welcome , she also let us know that they had recently hired a new Head Chef, and from my experience it is definitely working out as the food was fantastic all around. We arrived during their Happy Hour before 7PM, so we started with their Veggie Gyoza which was perfectly crisped and dressed and a couple of hand rolls. They also had a really cool line up of Japanese Beers in bottle , and I'm always a big fan of Hitachino which they had like 5 different kinds of. For Dinner, we opted to explore their assortment of tasting and share items as we were advised by our server. the Chilean Sea Bass skewers and their cooked black cod sushi stood out in particular, the sashimi and nigiri we ordered were great all around. My Wife is tried their cooked salmon hotpot which she refused to share, so I assume that was a sign she enjoyed herself. Throw in a few sips of Nikka , and I must say, it made for a lovely experience through and through. Glad to see Kai getting better, we could definitely use more restaurants like them in the area. I would recommend this place for a date night or a hangout after work because of the chill atmosphere and solid food & drink options. More

We had an incredible meal and incredible service. Tamar was our server and she was the best - knowledgeable, thoughtful, friendly and witty. Amuse-bouche and hamachi courses were stand-outs. Had fun with the Water List. They watched our timing so we could comfortably make the show at The Ahmanson. Lovely to find the rest of our petit fours wrapped up and waiting in our car which we had parked with their valet. 5 stars all around. More
