    Amazing friendly staff, couldn't have been more helpful. The food for our party of 3: one starter was lovely, one main was too but, the rest were disappointing and in my opinion overpriced. As I understand it, there are however some great offers on so next time I dine, it'll probably be via a deal or offer

    We booked to celebrate my sons graduation. The service and food were excellent. Only thing that would have made it even better was an acknowledgment to him graduating. We have been to other places before where staff have given a card or said happy birthday, congratulations on the occasions.

    Rather chaotic evening. Menu not as advertised and drinks and dishes were either wrong or not provided in the proper order. Staff were al pleasant and apologised several times and gave a discount but won't be going there again. Disappointing.

    we were the only people in there which made us feel like we were being watched. the pizza was outstanding and the steak was cooked beautifully. waiting staff were lovely however as they seated us quite far away and it was empty in the restaurant, it was clear that they were bored so kept coming over to ask if everything was ok (few too many times).

    Had a lovely dinner at Fratellos. Friendly staff and great service. Pasta was perfect and not swimming in sauce, and rosemary and garlic bread was delicious. It was slightly pricey for what it was but we enjoyed it so didn't mind too much! Downside was that the restaurant was empty so no atmosphere to speak of. We would go back however!

    The staff were lovely but the food was very disappointing. £25 for 3 courses is good value but the portions were absolutely tiny. I'd rather have paid 25 for 2 courses but you got a bit more! The main came out on small plates, a bit like you would get at a wedding. Compare their Sunday roast to any pub restaurant and you will be very disappointed. The cauliflower and broccoli were so undercooked they were unedible! The place was empty... now I know why! I won't be returning, even though the staff were very warm and helpful. The place needs a rethink - you are right on the doorstop of thousands of students who were all probably out on a sat night - craving a homecooked Sunday lunch... I would go and see the millhouse at Birtley, spread Eagle in North Shields, or woodmans arms in Whickham.. you will see how a Sunday roast should be served. Good luck :)

    Best meal I've had in a hotel. Garlic bread was amazing, and I had the prawn pasta which was delicious. Big portions. Service was excellent.

    Went for a valentine’s meal. Took 30 minutes and us going up to ask for our order to be taken. Order was taken 2 more times after that, and food didn’t arrive until almost 2 hours of us getting there. We had ordered a starter, a main and a dessert each, and we only ended up receiving a main after all the waiting, so we decided to call off the starter and the dessert as we had spent way too long for our food to arrive. Service was poor, we had asked the waiters about our food multiple times, only for them to leave to check and never come back. We only received a partial refund at the end, and what we paid had exceeded the value of the food we received, nevermind the inconvenience caused. Even though the food was good, the overall service was poor, and will not be returning.

    Having arrived at 7:30, the time we had booked a table for, we waited 10 mins to be seated. We had to call a waiter over at 8:10 to take drinks and food order, as we had been looking at the single page menu for long enough. 2 cokes, 1 steak and 1 Cesar salad quickly became a running joke. At 8:30 someone came over to check what we had ordered! 1 steak, 1 cesar salad!, drinks arrived 10 mins later. At 8:50 another waiter came over to ask what we had ordered for the third time. 1 STEAK, 1 CESAR SALAD. Reminded me of Fawlty Towers episode, i was determined to get my food, though my partner wisely wanted to leave. At 9:30 arrived 1 steak, sirloin cooked unevenly so half was well done and half medium rare, with peppercorn sauce that was cold to touch that chef forgot to heat. The Cesar salad was fine though chicken bits were over cooked cold and dry. At least we were done eating by 9:35! The manager was a lovely guy, clearly under a lot of pressure, apologised and was the only saving grace of a comedy Valentine’s dinner.

    Absolutely disgraceful, went with my partner for valentines and was sat down at 7pm. Order was not taken until 7:30 and there was no warning of a delay or any apologies. Fast forward to 9pm and we still had not been given our starters. By this point we were fuming and asked for our order to be cancelled and left without any food. Such a shame especially on valentines as this ruined our night. If we were warned and the service was better I could be more understanding but there was not even an apology

    Arrived at 19:00 with a booking for Valentine’s and waited over an hour for our starters to arrive after ordering almost instantly. Had to leave because it was taking so long and no one was getting their food. One chef in the kitchen had made 5-6 pizzas and left them under the hot light for 45 minutes and no one delivered them. Only 3 servers and 2 were permanently stuck to the tills despite no one else arriving. We complained and asked for the deposit back then left.

    We were allocated a time slot of 7pm however we were seated by 6.45as the restaurant was not busy. We then tried to flagg a member of staff down to take our order at 7.15pm. waitress took the order and drinks and took another 20 minutes to being out first drinks to us. We had asked a waiter to go and check in time for food. He did that and didn't come back to inform us of the time wait. However at the is point we got very frustrated and annoyed to where at 8.15pm we had no food still we ended up seeing the restaurant manager and obviously complained to where he didn't seem bothered no apology or anything. We will get our refund and I'm taking this higher. Pure unacceptable level of service for a restaurant that came highly recommended

    Food was tremendous, however service was very poor. Waited an hour between starter and main and also waited half an hour for our empty plates to be cleared from the table and that was only after we had called for a manager as it was getting beyond a joke.

    We had a shared platter to start with and it was very tasty and plentiful. Penny ariabata was tasty but penne slightly soft. The beef and pork ragu lasagne was overly tomato flavoured. The green salad was smothered in oil. But the pizzas which we didn't have looked good. Price point was fair.

    My son, daughter, partner and myself had a selection of very different dishes across our three courses and everything was excellent. The food was very tasty, well thought out and good value too. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

    Fratello's is a convenient place to eat when staying at the Holiday Inn Jesmond. It was very busy in the Restaurant and as such the service was very slow- 15 to 20 mins before our bread platter arrived! Quality of food was excellent and the staff delightful.

    Left a message on the 14th of May, still no reply. Restaurant had its doors open but no staff, lights were off, and no sign of anyone to ask. Ended up having lunch elsewhere. What's the point of a booking system when the place might as well be shut??

    We absolutely loved our meal, garlic bread to share, pasta dishes superbly cooked, could not fault any of it. Service was steady and at our pace. Evening meal and getting busy but noise level was not intrusive. Value in our opinion was very good . We have no hesitation in recommending this Italian restaurant and will certainly be visiting again

    There are not enough staff to provide good service. They are doing the best they can. This is actually a restaurant in a Holiday Inn. Food is as average as you’d expect from a Holiday Inn restaurant, but expensive.

    The service certainly could have been better, but the carbonara was the best I've had, beautiful. The atmosphere was great as there was no one else in the restaurant or the accompanying bar. I plan to go again for evening dinner.
