Best Restaurants with a Wood Oven in Guelph

We've been to this Il Fornello many times. It's a real favourite. The staff have all been incredibly nice. The ambiance is lovely. I find it very relaxing and also rejuvenating to be there. It's warm, there's even a fireplace, but I was speaking figuratively, both because of the staff and the restaurant design. The food is delicious. The pizza is brick oven with a flavourful crust and high quality toppings. The crust makes the pizza outstanding. The pasta dishes are great too but I have trouble getting past the pizza to other things on the menu. They are incredibly accommodating. The happy hour menu, though much smaller in size than it once was, is a real bargain. The Sunsplit IPA is delicious and refreshing and not widely available. I've had brunch here too and I thought it was the best brunch I've had in Canada and I go out for brunch regularly. The Tiramisu French Toast is just extraordinary. I recently bought bread at Blackbird Baking Co. and checked to see if I could find it in Mississauga. I wasn't able to find a location and then saw it listed on the il Fornello menu as the bread for their garlic bread. Well, of course. They use great ingredients and that is great bread. Plus, they sell it at their little adjacent Italian market. The owner of this particular il Fornello has done everything right - particularly in choosing his staff and chef, but it's really every detail that has been excellent. It completely changes the Sherwood Village Mall and frankly, for me, Mississauga. I just want to add that our server last night, Djamila, is charming and her kindness and service helped make the evening special.

Food was delicious. Our server Kevin was great, friendly, fast and very personable.

Appetizers were all great - crispy calamari/shrimp, bruschetta. Salads were fresh and crispy, nice big portion. Pizza is Napoletana style, soft, nice puffy crust outside with some charred bits from the wood oven. Overall a great value.

Lovely experience! This was my husband and I’s second time here and first time for my parents, and the food and service did not disappoint. Thank you for helping us celebrate Father’s Day.
