We ate outside which is why I said the noise level was quiet. I suspect that inside is not so quiet. The food was very good overall and the service was attentive.

This understated restaurant is a joy to have in our neighborhood. We have an abundance of restaurants in our area of all types, but we were lacking a place where you could enjoy American classics and great steaks and lamb chops, or explore classics of Middle Eastern, Italian or French cuisines. That gap has been filled by District Bistro. Quality ingredients, unique preparations, and stellar service make for an exceptional dining experience. You might walk right past this place because it is in an unassuming storefront next to its sister restaurant, Frank's Burgers, but walking by would be a mistake. Go inside--you won't regret it.

We come to DC once a year, and our visit isn't complete without a dinner at La Tomate. Excellent service, wonderful food, and a good wine list. Lamb chops were delicious, bronzino special was outstanding, squash ravioli was great, and the beet carpaccio can't be better. We had an excellent Gavi di Gavi that was also a special listing. Looking forward to next year.

Everything was unique and DELICIOUS! Our standout favorite was the dumplings appetizer. I got the shrimp and grits and my husband had the Pekin Duck. Yum Yum!!

We were there on the first night of the new menu. Thai shrimp appetizer was delicious, crispy shrimp with a nice kick to the sauce. I had the blackened shrimp papardelli With wilted kale it was absolutely delicious l generous portion I took a bit home. Love their focaccia bread. It was our adult son’s birthday we were given complementary limoncello pumpkin shots(sounds a bit weird but no lemon taste)they were delicious! He also got a free dessert of his choice. He picked tiramisu and it was really good as well. Overall, can’t wait to go back.

Overall, great experience. Initially, I felt like a fish out of water because I was traveling alone and did not know what to expect from a more upscale atmosphere. First impression was a bit disappointing because I could not find the host and stood there pacing until I decided to ask the rep. at the theater what I needed to do to be seated. They suggested asking someone at the bar which was helpful. Thank you. Shortly after walking over to the bar, the host walked out and I was seated immediately. The rest of the experience was outstanding, and I even found myself messaging friends about how great the food and cocktails were compared to typical restaurants I would normally find myself at. I had the Calamari appetizer, Salmom entree with 2 Long Islands which were balanced and tasted the same both times. I appreciated the consistency! Eventually, I asked for the check and when the server returned I realized I didn't even think about dessert. I asked what her suggestions were and went with the Chocolate Bomb (I might be off on the name). Honestly, I would return to this place just for the dessert alone. It was so good and I considered getting another one before leaving! I will be returning to this area soon and I will very likely eat here again!

After having a wonderful dinner supported with great service there last week, I went back this week to try the Happy Hour deal on $1 oysters. The oysters were fresh and excellent, and the service was again outstanding. My friend is ready to go back next week :-)
