We loved the ambience of the pub, we were warmly welcomed - and were so pleased to find old fashioned fare on the menu.... such as a plowman's lunch. We would definitely make our way to Cole Man's Hatch again to enjoy another meal with you! Thank you!

Alex Boyd’s cooking is consistently superb - there’s a reason why Kumquat has been awarded two AA rosettes, making it a regionally important restaurant.

Steak night on Fridays is great value for money. Their included bottle of red (cabernet sauvignon) was actually quite good. Very happy with the service as well. Professional and kind staff. The steak was pretty good and the sides were excellent (the mushrooms especially).

We had a truly wonderful dining experience for our wedding anniversary. The food was absolutely delicious, and the recommendations from the staff were fantastic. Both staff members who looked after us were warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the food and wine. I would thoroughly recommend The Poet to anyone looking for a special meal out.

★★★★★ A truly special village pub! Although it had been a little while since our last visit, we were welcomed back like old friends. Everyone was so warm and friendly, and it was lovely that they remembered us. We were given a wonderful table near the open fire, which, on a wet and windy day, made the whole experience feel wonderfully cosy and inviting. The starters were gorgeous, and the seasonal specials were exceptional. There’s so much thought and care put into the menu. Everything is beautifully prepared, using fresh, seasonal ingredients, and served piping hot! And the desserts? Simply sublime. Absolutely delicious and worth saving room for! The Cat Inn isn’t just another country pub. It’s a glorious restaurant tucked inside a charming, historic village inn, combining exceptional food with genuine warmth and hospitality. A real gem, and somewhere we’re always delighted to return to.
