Best Family Style Restaurants in Old City

10/10 experience at Alice as always. So accommodating and the loveliest staff. Food is exceptional every single time. I believe wholeheartedly this is one of the best restaurants in Philly!

First time here and it was great. No major surprises on the menu - just excellent pasta dishes perfectly executed. We got 4 pasta dishes + beet salad and focaccia for 3 people which was perfect. All the pasta was delicious. Especially liked the Pappardelle with elk ragu and the Tonnarelli Cacio e Peppe. Felt like I was in Rome. Sitting outside in October was a little cold but they have heaters which made it OK.

Outstanding experience. Great cocktails; my wife had the milk punch and I had the Brooklyn, which was a Manhattan made with dry vermouth, my favorite cocktail to make at home but one which bartenders rarely understand. For starters we had the puntarelle salad and the beet and pear salad, accompanied by the sourdough bread and pickle plate. Don’t know where they get their bread, but I’d love to find out. For entrees we had the striped bass and the roast chicken with dirty rice, both excellent. My wife’s dessert, soft serve vanilla ice cream with grape sorbet, sounds ordinary but was a revelation - this was no ordinary ice cream. Somewhat noisy, but that’s what you get with a restaurant full of people enjoying being there. Will be back!

We went for our lunch for our anniversary. Satat the oyster counter. Everyone, from our server, assistent GM to the chefs, were so warm and friendly. They gifted us with several extra tastings beyond our order including the salmon crudo, the shrimp cocktail and an extra dessert! Plus we got delicious oysters from New Brunswick. Entrées were the branzino and tuna rice bowl. Everything we tasted was delicious! The lunch menu is more limited than dinner but just as good. Highly recommend this place. Thanks for a memorable anniversary lunch.

Excellent food and service. High Street also has one of the best ceasar salads in Philly. Don’t skip on the garlic knots either!
