Best Authentic Restaurants in San Rafael

We kept seeing postings about Cafe Villa's Wednesday night prime rib dinner, so decided to check it out. The complete dinner (for $39) included a nice green salad, a glass of red wine, the prime rib with mashed potatoes, mixed veg, horseradish and au jus, followed by a bowl of ice cream (chocolate or vanilla). The piece of prime rib was good sized, nice quality. The waiter was excellent, the cafe is smallish, looked like a diner with ambitions to be a restaurant, clean and well lit. The regular menu looked interesting, good prices and we plan to go again to check it out.

Insalata's never disappoints and my husband thinks they have the best burger in Marin County. Their Fattoush salad has gotten a little pricey at $25 but is still so delicious. It's huge and could easily be split. Service is prompt and courteous and they have a menu that's hard to choose from as there are so many mouth-watering choices. We love to visit Insalata's and plan to return there often.

First visit. Fabulous food. Best thin crust pizza I’ve had a very long time. Very creative toppings. Fabulous appetizers. Loved it. Will go again and again.

Fantastic authentic Mexican cuisine with the variety of Moles available being the crown jewel. Many traditional plate options and the handmade in house tortillas could be their own meal! Friendly and fun staff. Parking is a bit tricky but worth the effort!!
