   superb balance of flavours! Everything was a heavenly experience for our tastebuds. Exemplary service. The only down side was the noise level once the resraurant was full. Highly recommended for the cuisine!

    We have dined at Fauna numerous times before - all have been outstanding. However, this time the food was not up to their usual standards. The scallops crudo had a dressing that was much too hot (spicy-hot) and that overpowered the beautiful, delicate fresh scallops. I know the menu said there were peppers involved but I didn't expect them to be too powerful seeing as how it was a scallop dish. The 80 day aged steak was served already cut from the bone (no bone in sight, or to nibble on) and the meat was room temperature by the time it was served. The kale and carrots were both under-cooked (the kale especially so) with the carrots almost crunchy so we would have preferred the cook to be 5 minutes longer. (On a positive side, the potatoes, mushrooms, fiddleheads and sauce were lovely, and the steak was cooked to the right doneness). Still, for $110 for two, you kind of expect it to be near-perfect, and this wasn't. Food aside, the service was excellent throughout and I very much enjoyed the house-made cocktail as well as the wine suggestions.

    We ordered 3 raw plates, one small and each of us had a main. We were 4 people, everything was phenomenal. Great service, dealers choice drinks were great, food was amazing especially the pork chops and the parsnip purée.

    Very welcoming restaurant with pleasant service. Proposes creative, tasty foods with exceptional wine list. Visited around 7 pm and was probably the noisiest time of the evening. Would be a good idea to go later for a more relaxing time. But still well worth the visit

    Excellent experience here. Server was great, food was great and they were able to accommodate an egg, nut, and dairy allergy. Some of the best food I’ve had in Ottawa! Highly recommend.

    Nice evening out. It got a bit noisy as the restaurant filled up so it was hard to hear across the table but good ambiance overall. Food was on rustic side (eg. Scallops in ceviches were in slices rather than chopped), matching the casual dining experience. Flavours were bright and refreshing.

    Quite loud. Hard to talk. Server had little wine knowledge. And took away wine by bottle menu before we could order any. Pawpaw dessert was barely edible. Endive salad was ok only. Scallop ceviche was delicious. Halibut main was nice plate. Everything heavily salted

    The service was professional and if you are looking to have a unique experience this is a great place. I am novice when it comes to what I would consider a “short list” or “condensed menu” but we took this as an opportunity to try something new and special and we were not disappointed. I had a hard time pronouncing the names but the scallops were great, the halibut and pork chop plates were fantastic!!! With the recommended desert to top it off, it was a such a special dining experience. The only pro tip I can give is for the out of town people, set up an parking app ahead of time.

    Great table for two tucked away behind the restaurant entry door at windows. The food was excellent and our server was attentive and helpful but not pushing us along. Cocktails were delicious and we went with a nice wine selection at recommendation of server which was an excellent accompaniment to our 80 day dry aged ribeye for two.

    I’m from Montreal and this place was recommended to me, we were in Ottawa for a show and just wow! Beautiful restaurant, excellent service, and the food was outstanding. The wines are a bit pricey but you can tell the sommelier is passionate about his selections and they paired beautifully with the food. The damn soft shell crab was so good we ordered 2 more to share. A must visit next time I’m back in town. Thanks to the whole team!

    I really liked the restaurant but the one thing that I did not like was $5/person fee if you want to bring a cake or cupcakes (for a birthday). The food was good and service was nice otherwise.
    

    FaunaResponded on March 5, 2023Thanks for the review, we understand your concern but the $5 per person or otherwise is a very common thing in restaurants as we do make our own desserts and to be honest we like to use our tables to the potential in order to keep our costs in order, and in the end bringing the product that a business makes is not common in many industries.     Really love this place; so glad it survived the pandemic. Great cocktails, food, ambience. We had the elk carpaccio, dozen oysters and soft shell crab. It was the perfect amount of food for two people, and keto friendly for my guest. Tuesday night was a quiet evening, so we almost had the place to ourselves.
