Food seems to have shifted away from Prior excellence. Is it “new” recipes from daughter? Even simple classics not done well. Steamed fish arrived with cold crunchy spinach leaves on top rather than nicely wilted greens in sauce. It’s quite expensive and Now just not enjoyable cuisine.

We went to House of Fang hoping to have an excellent meal and it did not disappoint I had the ginger martini which was original and tasty. Chef Fang personally takes the orders and when we told him we couldn't wait to taste his food he asked if we wanted him to order for us. It was a 5 course meal and we truly enjoyed every course. You can't go wrong ordering anything off the menu. Atmosphere is what you make it, casual or fine dining. Very reasonably priced. Thank you for the culinary experience.

Terrible service. Great food. Waited 18 minutes for the bill and to go boxes. Waited 20 minutes to be seated with a reservation and half empty restaurant. Got two menu items wrong. No explanation or remedy. Food came out in random time intervals, the longest period bring over 20 minutes after the one before it.

Arrived and the server took a couple of minutes to shuffle through menus. Felt if the menus were better organized, that would not have happened. We ordered an appetizer/starter, entree, sizzling fried rice and the green beans and potatoes. The entree came out first and rice was the last thing brought out. Maybe that’s how it is done but most places bring appetizers first. Food was tasty but service wasn’t great. Only other comment I have is that a good, deep cleaning is long overdue. The artwork, booths, and bathroom vents have A LOT of dust, which is not appealing to see.

This my second time going to Fang and I was disappointed with the experience. I had recommended this to my colleagues and the service was poor and the food was ok. The server couldn't help answer any questions on the menu or drinks. She asked no one what they liked or didn't like. It was rushed and she basically "took our order" in 60 seconds for a large party. If she had taken more time to find out what we liked and enjoyed, the food options would have been better. Also, many of the dishes were bland! Sadly, my experience this time around was significantly less positive than my first time. I won't be back or recommending the location.

I've been to Fang prior to COVID, but, more tellingly, prior to the airing of Chef Dynasty: House of Fang. The first two visits were very nice, including Peter ordering for a table of 8 (fortunately, my company was footing the bill). I'm sorry to report that our most recent visit was a complete disappointment. We had a 5:30 reservation because of a show we were seeing that night. The door remained locked until 5:35 and there was no welcome or hello offered, just an unlocked door and someone turning on their heel away from us. We were then shown to a table in the front window, where other diners were soon seated on either side of us, presumably to give the impression of a full house. What became most annoying were the kitchen staff yelling behind the pass ... and then a crying baby was added to the mix (not a baby belonging to any guests, mind you). Service was brusque, the food uninspired - when you see "fried potstickers", they mean it - not pan fried, but deep fat fried. While Fang's steamed buns were passable, the Mongolian short ribs were not. We would have ordered more to taste but the whole experience was a first-class disaster. It's as if the Fang's have enjoyed their 15 minutes of Hollywood fame, and now just want to milk the convention center trade without any concern for locals and the restaurant's reputation. It's a hard no for us going forward.

They could do a better job at house keeping, my wife said extremely dusty. A bit loud from kitchen staff. Slow service at end of meal to get check and boxes for left overs. Parking was difficult. Over all food is Great, worth the experience.

We went to this restaurant after seeing their offerings online. What we received was something as close to idyllic as possible. We were a party of five and we appeared to be a bit discombobulated when a gentleman approached our table. We had been admiring a picture in the restaurant that featured Keanu Reeves with this same gentleman. He then told us that he was both the owner as well as the cook at the restaurant. He suggested a family style offering that sounded truly delicious. However, we informed him that we had a family member who was Delia’s. Without missing a step the gentleman (Mr. Peter Fang) told us that he completely understood and that he would handle that extra ‘wrinkle’. His staff proceeded to serve us the most incredibly delicious nine course meal that was accompanied with a distinct separate but equally delicious nine course meal for our extra special family that was the most generous offering anyone could ever have expected or imagined. Needless to say that this entire experience was a unique one of a kind heavenly offering that will forever have us returning to eternally thank Mr. Fang and his staff for their gracious and more than delicious meal. If anyone desires a super meal with great people , well you found it here at Fang’s in San Francisco.

Had business lunch here with my colleagues. The server was gracious enough (like they usually do at House of Nanking) to say that they will take care of the ordering for us. They accommodated 5 of us (three vegetarians) nicely. Food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable for downtown.

Took a group of first-year college students, including my daughter. Table of 7. Mr. Fang introduced himself and waved for us to give him the menus. We obliged and I wish we had not. Some things were good, but the volume was unusual. We got a massive platter of sweet potatoes, which were tasty, but followed by chicken with sweet potatoes. This didn’t make sense. The sweet potatoes needed something to go with them like green beans or anything really. Main dishes were very sweet and saucy, and needed steamed rice to balance them out. However, the only rice we were served was in the form of fried rice, which was fun to watch them prepare a table, but the flavor was more like Spanish rice. Overall, we could’ve done a lot better by ordering all the things we wanted. We didn’t get any noodles, which is something we really wanted. We did not get the pork belly buns which Fang is known for. Fresh fish was amazing, but I felt terrible, because the amount they brought could have fed 20 people. Chef Fang may have just been having an off night, but he seemed very tired. In fact, the whole place looked tired. They have let garbage pile up at the front reception, desk, and the walkway to the bathroom is a dingy and dirty storage space. Overall, this was a major disappointment. Do not recommend.

Smoke (albeit the smoked BBQ ribs are very good) & Mirrors - the vanity. Great disparity too when entrusting Peter to order for us - we received the boring “white washed” table-side fried rice, roasted pumpkin, buns, a tasteless sticky-plate of potstickers. I wasn’t disappointed but also wasn’t blown-away - the place is super loud and service is at a minimum.

The staff was GREAT....I wanted a quiet table and they gave me all sorts of options once we got there. The food is outstanding...we loved every dish and I really do not think you can order anything boring. Kathy surprised us with some yummy dishes. It was a busy but she managed to come over and talk to us and made us feel like VIP. I loved the soup and the eggplant dish. Both Kathy and Peter were super friendly and down to earth and the service was great. I will definitely go back.

We live in the Bay Area and took our relatives here because they had watched the show and always wanted to go. We were met with the Father coming up to the table and telling us he would take care of us. We would have been happier ordering ourselves but he walked away and very quickly food started to arrive. Heavy sauces full of sugar and grease, nothing fresh tasting, Just not great food. We eat in a lot of restaurants in the Bay Area and Napa and when the food is incredible and high-priced you leave feeling happy because the meal is amazing. In this case the food was not great and the outrageous bill left all of us with a bad taste in our mouths. We did not feel taken care of by the Father, we felt taken advantage of.

We have a chef just send things to our table instead of ordering. It was very good and I do recommend that it was a chance to try lots of different things instead of just getting bigger dishes. The only thing I would change is that they brought all the food virtually at one time and I would’ve preferred if they brought all these small plates over a period of time so you could enjoy each thing and it would all stay hot.

We let the owner order for us so beware the food keeps coming until you say stop and it comes out fast. The dishes are also large. Overall, the food was uninspiring. I agree with the saucy comments. I thought the fried rice was bland. The best dish was the BBQ pork ribs and the Bao. I hate to write a mediocre review but I probably wouldn’t return with so many amazing options in San Francisco.

We celebrated our daughters 20th birthday at FANG. The omokase dining experience was fantastic. The food was incredible and the service was warm and friendly. Every person in our party had a different favorite dish. My daughters were raving about the food for days.

Food was beyond excellent, though we felt a little rushed by the staff. It all came out at the same time and they seemed to be cleaning up throughout our visit, even though we only had a 7:30 reservation (not like we were the last people there). Made it a little uncomfortable at the end.

It was our first visit to Fang and celebrating my daughter’s 25th birthday. Everything on the menu sounded wonderful. As our table of 4 tried to decide our order, Mr. Fang himself greeted us. He offered to order for us, and we couldn’t be more excited. It was all absolutely delicious! Edamame salad, chicken bao buns, spicy sweet potatoes, onion pancake, seafood soup, short ribs and zucchini, broccoli with crispy honey shrimp and beef, and the famous house fried rice. Our glorious meal ended with complimentary warm sesame balls and coconut cookies. Mr. Fang and his staff were lovely and made us feel so special. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!
