About this restaurant

  • Good for business meals
  • Good for groups
  • Good for special occasions
Fang is the sister restaurant of wildly popular restaurant, House of Nanking. Fang embodies both modern and authentic Chinese cuisines in a fine dining setting serving traditional Chinese fare, dim sum, as well as "off the menu" innovative dishes for the adventurous. Chef Peter Fang believes that good-tasting food is universal and should not be bound by how dishes were made in the past. With Chef Peter’s trademark inventiveness and eye for quality, the menu evolves and changes based on seasonally fresh ingredients from the same local Chinatown markets Peter has visited for decades. For fresh seasonal Chinese food in an elegant and modern setting, visit Fang.

Food was just ok. It seems the restaurant emphasizes serving plate ware over quality of the food. Service was beyond gruff. Some people are not cut out to wait tables.

Fang is very reliable for good and distinctive Chinese meals. Solid choice, especially when you’re near Moscone Center.

Just the worst bland prepared (not fresh) food, street dust blowing in the window just above my investor, too much MSG, very loud, I literally got sick from eating there.

We ordered the 8 course meal for 4 persons. The first 3 items came out almost together. Which didn’t leave time between to enjoy them separately, while they were warm and fresh from the kitchen. The beef, chicken, and prawns dishes were overly sweet. A bowl of white rice came out with the last dish (fish). If served earlier, the rice would have balanced out some of the sweetness in the beef, chicken, and prawn dishes. There was confusion on what dishes were left to be served because the restaurant has 2 different menus for the 8 course meal (both priced at $65/person). Random servers brought the food to our table. So there wasn’t one person who was responsible for our table.

Delicious food, worst service ever - never greeted at the table - had to go ask to order 3 times - no one ever came back to our table after food delivered.

Our favorite place for Chinese food in San Francisco!! The broccoli and short rib are our favorite dishes. The servers are very friendly. The food comes out very fast, but then the servers seem to disappear. We'll be back.
