We went for the whiskey tasting dinner and it was a wonderful experience! The food was incredible as always and service top notch. It was a little louder than usual in there but I think everyone was having a good time sampling the whiskeys and asking questions. Yonos is always a must go!

The cuisine is classic Italian, beautifully presented in an upscale dining room with a midnight-blue ceiling, subdued lighting, and photos of Italy at night. Diners will find all their classic Italian dishes as well as modern innovative twists on old classics at MezzaNotte Restaurant. There are many vegetarian options, fish and lobster dishes, and good pasta and risotto selections. Some local favorites include Chilean Sea Bass, NY Strip, scallops, and “crazy” lasagna. With each meal comes a good selection of Italian and international wines. MezzaNotte Restaurant has been operational since 2007 in suburban Guilderland along Western Avenue. Restaurant owner Connie Cannistraci-Ware plays an active role in running this chef-d’oeuvre while executive chef Scott Krause is the talent in the kitchen, breathing new life into Italian cuisine.

Our server, Maddie, made our dining experience delightful. She accommodated our requests for "dirty ice" with the cosmo cocktail and cutting the greens on the MezzaNotte signature salad because my friend has difficulty holding the knife. My friend enjoyed the soup of the day and the MezzaNotte salad, exclaiming all to be the BEST! I also enjoyed my Caesar salad and the special homemade fettuccine with lump crab. So delicious. Yes, I took some home because I love dessert and I wanted to be comfortable. We each ordered the vanilla panna cotta with honey drizzle, fresh fruit and crushed biscotti. The perfect ending to a much enjoyed meal and fine dining. This restaurant is a gem. We are looking forward to a return soon.

Proprietor chef Jim Rua helms the kitchen and comes up with the menu, which is anything but constant. Inspired by trips to his home country, chef Rua tweaks the menu every few months but also retains some of the favorites on the roster, such as calamari neri, the eggplant appetizer with four kinds of cheese, and homemade tagliatelle with zingy puttanesca sauce. The risotto remains one of the favorites and a good choice, and it comes in a tomato and Gorgonzola sauce. Metroland Magazine has named Café Capriccio the best restaurant in the Capital District for several years. Café Capriccio is not the place to skip dessert.
