Sun Moon Studio is a farmer and producer-driven restaurant in West Oakland by Chefs Alan Hsu and Sarah Cooper.

We offer a multi-course tasting menu for $180 per person in our intimate, 4-table dining room. Optional beverage pairings ($125) and non-alcoholic pairings ($60) are also available. The focus of our menu is to highlight the bounty of local producers and farmers through the lens of our life experiences.

We are able to adjust our menu to accommodate many but not all dietary restrictions and require advanced notice to do so. Please notify us of your party's dietaries when making a reservation so we may plan for your arrival.

Reservations are released 6 weeks ahead to the day at 12 noon PST. Please do not book a reservation that does not match your party size as a reduction in party size *any* time after booking will incur a fee.

About the restaurant

Great China was established in Berkeley in 1985 by Mike and Jenny Yu. The original location was on Kittredge Street next to the famed California Theatre, however a fire in 2012 forced the restaurant to close and reopen in its current location. Today brothers James and Tai Yu carry on the family legacy. For decades Great China has served as a favorite lunch and dinner spot for UC Berkeley faculty, students and locals alike. Many long time patrons will recognize our lead server Linda Wang, who has been with Great China since the beginning. Nicole Lauga is our hospitality specialist. The lead chefs have been working at Great China for over 20 years and the wok line chefs combine for over 100 years of experience.

I just found my new go to Japanese Restaurant in the Tri Valley! Blue Sakana is right in line with the top tier Japanese restaurants in our area, but service, ambiance and selection was even broader than most. The Rolls, Sashimi, and spare ribs were delicious. I'm going back soon to try the other things on the menu. The staff was very accommodating and came to check frequently, unlike other restaurants. Send your friends to keep them open in the dyeing Blackhawk Plaza.

Mägo is a family owned and operated fine dining restaurant from Chef Mark Liberman. We offer an exciting tasting menu cooked over wood fire, offering our take on Contemporary Colombian fare, anchored in an understanding of using Northern California ingredients, simple flavors in bold combinations.

Our set menu focuses on ingredients that are at their most peak in deliciousness .This usually means produce that is in season, which in turn means they are their most flavorful, which is one of the reasons why we change our menu daily. In order to ensure the proper planning of your evening, please allow for 2.5 hours.

Mago means magician, and both the head chef-owner Mark Lieberman and the wine steward Stephen Shafer are true magicians. Fabulous Michelin-star level food in what is essentially a friendly neighborhood restaurant, a local treasure.
