$$$$ • South Indian • South End
We had a craving for Indian food during recent Boston visit. Found Crystal Spoons online with good ratings and gave it a try. Across the street from David Ramsay Park in South End on an otherwise underdeveloped area, the restaurant stood out like a warm and inviting beacon. Walking into the restaurant was the start of a great experience. We were greeted cheerfully by the front of house, directed to our table and cushy seats, and surrounded by authentic Indian decor and crystal chandeliers. Tasteful Bollywood videos playing on the wall toward the back. The generous portions of food were outstanding and flavors on point and authentic. We were warned about the spice so we opted for mild and it still carried a punch with the Lamb Biryani, Kebab, and Tiki Masala dishes. Paired with a little Cucumber Raita, helped moderate the heat. Had a cucumber cooler cocktail which was made with care and balanced well. Proud owner Malika (sp?) and servers were attentive throughout. Wouldn’t be surprised if the the area rallies around this young restaurant to establish a new central dining hub. Highly recommend.
