By far the best overall dinner experience we had in Madrid. The restaurant decor is breathtaking, the service was excellent for a very busy Friday night and the food was made to perfection. It truly was outstanding!

We were very happy with the service and food in Arzabal Retiro. The staff speaks English well, the dining room is very well decorated and the menu is not only Spanish dishes. We eat stuffed quails that were very well cooked, the French butter was served from the original French container, the wine was great and as well as creative appetizers. We highly recommend this restaurant to American and English speaking tourists. The restaurant starts serving dinner at 7 pm, but most of nice restaurants in Madrid start serving dinner at 8 pm.

I got the impression that the maitre d was quite preoccupied initially; we had to wait a while to be seated but then things calmed down a bit. We enjoyed the 80s music; not too loud and despite the rain the meal in the protected outdoor terrace was quite nice.
