We were treated to an exceptional fine dining experience paired with an incredible sake journey that made our appreciation for sake even greater than it already was. The food was sublime. We began with delicate prawn tartlets that simply melted in the mouth, followed by one of the freshest oysters we’ve had in a long time. . Then came the entrées. The tuna tartare was exquisite, with just a hint of yuzu, perfectly complemented by pickled wasabi and daikon., followed by a of savory egg custards. The delicate dashi-infused custard paired beautifully with the sweet spanner crab. Then came one of the standout dishes of the evening: the gnocchi. The texture was so light and pillowy that it would put many great Italian restaurants to shame. Between courses, my husband was taken on a wonderful sake journey by the friendly owner Larry Xei. He made the entire evening so memorable and made us yearn to visit Japan. The mains were outstanding. The duck dish was elevated by a sweet Sichuan-inspired sauce and beautifully smoked eggplant. Then came one of our favorite dishes of the night: the fish of the day with a yuzu beurre blanc. It immediately reminded us all of Joël Robuchon's legendary sole meunière dish we had in Paris many years ago. As dessert arrived, we continued learning more about sake, making the experience feel like both a meal and a masterclass. The hōjicha crème brûlée was sensational, and the Baked Alaska with pineapple, rhubarb, and yuzu was beautifully balanced—bright, refreshing, and the perfect way to finish the evening. Thank you to all the team at Bansho and in particular to Larry for making our evening so special and memorable. Can’t wait to visit again ♥️More infoBansho$$$$• Japanese• Armadale•4.7
