The Punch Bowl is a 17th century newly refurbished restaurant and pub located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and South Essex salt marshes. Chef Patron Rob and Front of House Manager Sally run a Two AA Rosette-rated restaurant, offering a nose-to-tail style menu with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour.     What an absolute gem of a place. The Moulin Rouge theme was on pointe! Attention to detail was fantastic, all food was tasty and extremely well presented, lovely big selection of teas and cocktails. Cant wait to return again for another theme.

    Fantastic service. Food was excellent, especially from the Bib Gourmand menu. Megrim Sole and Onion/Cheese tart were wonderful. Could have had an extra vegetarian option, but that’s being picky. But…and as a person who likes a drink, the 0% lager was as good as any alcoholic pint.

    Loved the meal, was there for lunch with my friend. Great service and lovely lunch. It was generous and hot and it was the set menu. Very good and love going to the New Boar. It was quiet so we could talk without too much noise around.
