I enjoyed an absolutely delicious four-course prix fixe dinner at Petite Cerise. Every course was exquisitely presented and a wonderful balance of flavors and contrasting textures. The menu is a successful combination of French classics and more regionally and globally-inspired fare. Service was inexplicably slow on a not terribly busy Wednesday, especially at the beginning of the evening, but the waitstaff were very professional and helpful. The decor is a little disappointing, not quite matching the level of the cuisine. However, the tables are widely spaced and the noise level very civilized, phenomena that are entirely too scarce in Washington. I absolutely recommend Petite Cerise for anyone interested in a sophisticated and contemporary take on Gallic cuisine in a more serene environment than the city's most popular French establishments.
