A slice of Venezuelan heaven. This is by far the best meal we have had on our holiday. We ordered 2 starters, both delicious, but one arrived 20 mins before the other. I wasn’t sure if one had been forgotten but my thick Yorkshire accent was adding to a bit of a language barrier. No problem though, after the get you in, serve you, and get you out of the door attitude most places had taken up, this slower pace was more than welcome.
As for the main, me and my wife tried to order the most expensive sharing platter, in order to fry a bit of everything. The waiters face told a story, are you mad? He explained that this is very large, enough for 3 or 4 people, and suggested either of the lower 2 options instead. Barring in mind the insane tipping culture in America, this recommendation directly meant he would receive less of a tip. Other places would have let us order this food mountain without a second thought.
When the main course arrived it was easy to see why we had been talked out of ordering the largest platter (the menu doesn’t make it clear that these are for sharing, or how many they are meant for). The platter we were presented with contained a pile of juicy steak, pork belly, 3 different kinds of fries, and a pile of sliced sausage. Every bite was stunning. So we’re the 3 sauces that accompanied our mountain of various delicious meats.
I can’t recommend this place enough, it’s worth the drive away from the beaten path.
I would also like to note our seats gave me a great view into the kitchen. The chef prepared every dish so very carefully, thoroughly inspecting every plate before allowing it to leave the kitchen. It made me feel like the quality of the food is taken very seriously.
If only I was still in America, I would love to return for more of this fabulous fare, and sample some of the absolutely amazing looking sushi that was on offer.
Despite the slow pace of the service, I still give this place 10/10.
