We went to Chef Melba's for our anniversary. Our meal was fabulous! We started with a delicious kale saiad. i had Thai Coconut Seafood dish thst wss so delicious. My husband had the delicious salmon.
We were not able to attend that evening but our new friends visiting from Mexico went in our place. They said it was the best restaurant and food they experienced on their visit.
Every bite you take explodes with flavor in your mouth. Every meal we have had here, results in wonderful memories.

Superfood Salad not as described on menu - came with spinach and no kale and cucumbers and no avocado which turned out sort of blah. Fish tacos were just ok. Cioppino was good. Waiter seemed to not care if we liked it or not but he was friendly although rushed. Many wines on list not available so bring your own bottle. Paid $175 for 2 and could have had a better meal at home.

Excellent food and service as always. Chef Melba always greets you with a hearty welcome! Had a new appetizer the shrimp Scampi Martini that was delicious. Fish and chips are the best.
The food was outstanding. It was so nice that Chef Melba came out to meet us. I highly recommend the eggplant board. We had fish and chips and the shrimp and scallop pasta. Both were amazing. We shared the chocolate bag and the pavlova. Both of those were really nice. Next time I would probably take my own wine and pay the corkage fee.

We had a great dinner at Chef Melba's. The food, service, and ambiance are all top notch. My favorite dish is their chocolate bag for dessert. Don't miss it!
Food was fantastic! One person in our party ordered the cioppino and specifically requested the nonspicy version, and it was very spicy. However, she was quickly served a new bowl and was very happy with it. The waiter was somewhat off-putting.

Chose the restaurant due to its reputation and location. The place is small so you expect to get very personalized service, but honestly we felt like just another table to serve. Perhaps it’s because the servers have been there forever and have simply just lost that desire to truly give the patrons the best experience. The food was good, but nothing to shout about. Decent serving sizes and quality product, but the food left me feeling underwhelmed. Especially at the prices. It’s wonderful that Chef Melba is there to prepare the meals but it would have been fantastic if she actually came out around the divider and greeted her guests. I just felt let down by the whole experience.
My fiancée and I went here on Valentine’s Day, so naturally it was quite busy. The lady in charge of seating was clearly overwhelmed but was doing her best given the busier than normal circumstances. That being said, I’m sure it wouldn’t be an issue on a normal night. The food was incredibly good. The server was friendly even though he was clearly overwhelmed. Great experience! Highly recommend it!
Valentine's Day is always tough. The food here is outstanding, but it seemed they had squeezed a couple extra table into this small space so servers were bumping into each other And the noise level was annoying. But the food was terrific, sole and trout were each great. My salad of beets and eggplant was very good but served on a board which looked great but made it hard to eat with out spilling things on he table. All in, we will be back

Desserts AMAZING!!! Food was delicious and outstanding as always.
I had one of the specials for the night, osso bucco. It was so tender and delicious! It came with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. We also had the eggplant & beet board which was very good as well. The best was the chocolate bag dessert...I would go back just for dessert and I don't think I will share next time!

Simply amazing cuisine!
I choose Chef Melba’s because it was always delicious food. We have lived in North Hermosa for 26 years and my husband and I loved the intimate dining experience there-with farm to table selections. We ordered an appetizer with grilled fuji apples and burrata. The apples were not grilled but raw and was put together haphazardly, not by the wonderful chef. Our steak was medium well after we asked for it to be medium rare. The waiter’s offer was for a free dessert. I was sooooo disappointed and won’t continue complaining but will not be returning.

Lovely ambiance with friendly, attentive service. The food is a definite cut above. We shared 2 appetizers, grilled octopus, and roasted eggplant and veggie plate, followed by the Thai coconut broth with fresh seafood. Portions were very generous and everything was gorgeous and absolutely delicious. Chef Melba came out and chatted with us.Highly recommended!

Always fresh food, cooked to exacting standards. Chef Melba is right there in the kitchen making her wonderfully-flavored food herself. If you have dietary restrictions, she is happy to accommodate. From the first piece of warm grilled bread to the chocolate box dessert at the end, the food is lovely and interesting. Favorites: any branzino or sea bass, shellfish in thai broth, steaks, fish and chips!, and we love all the appetizers and salads. Really wonderful meals served here!
1) Chilean Sea Bass absolutely delicious. A little pricey at $45
2) Whole fish Branzino was good too at $39
3) Chef Melba came by at the end of our meal.

Excellent as usual. Oyster popcorn is delicious. Took my daughter from New Jersey and she and her friend loved it. The paella is the best. Our favorite restaurant in the South Bay. Veal shank was incredible
