The service was great and the food was nothing special. Pork chop was over cooked. We expected a little more from the hype you typically hear about this restaurant. It was okay to try it once but we won’t be back. I’m pretty disappointed by that honestly.
We sat there for 15 minutes before a server talked to us. My husband was just getting up to go to the bar and get us all drinks and water when the server finally came over. The food was pretty good.
Butter was très formidable! The service was fantastic. We tried several dishes; the lobster bisque, wild salmon tartare, Burger 2.0, Long Island Bass, Roasted Cauliflower Lasagna and Cavatappi pasta w/ spicy lamb sausage. All the dishes were phenomenal. The Jasmine tea cake was a nice closing dish. Butter will be a "must stop" going forth each time we're back in the NYC. Many compliments to Alex and the Butter Team!!!
Had a group reservation with specific table request and when I arrived they seated us at an inconvenient location and table. The hostess said it wasn’t in my reservation when I specifically asked for a table 9 people could interact. They moved us. Service was also very very slow.
Food was fine not exceptional. Very loud restaurant
Although the ambiance and service was impeccable, or steak came out cold...twice.
We ended our dining experience early and called it a night
Went with a group of 5 people and they put on a mandatory 20% tip and didn't even tell us when the bill was delivered. Server also messed up an order, got the water on the 3rd ask and a drink order was messed up with them denying they got the wrong order. Not a great service experience.
Our server asked immediately if we had a show - and was very conscious of our time.
Chef Alex has created a great place to have an amazing dinner!! Cooked and seasoned perfectly! The beignets were the perfect way to finish off our meal.
Based on our experience I would not recommend Butter to a friend. Our waitress was inattentive and unfriendly and the bar would not serve us a drink after we closed our dinner tab. They closed the bar at 9:30 pm on Sunday night of the Tony’s.
Exposed electrical wires in the wall. For the price of the meal, I expected better upkeep
We had a wonderful meal. Started with the wedge which we shared. We also shared the pasta with lamb meatballs and the squid ink pasta with octopus. Both delicious. We shared the gluten free sundae for dessert. Rachel was a great waitperson, very sparkling attitude and very knowledgeable about the menu.
Very relaxing atmosphere. Sunday brunch had a wide variety of choices.
Celebrity chef restaurants can be very hit or miss, and with Butter, I was dubious at first, especially when when we received the rolls, which were served on "wood" plates. My dubiety, fortunately was misguided, as this was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. From the drinks to the salad to the meal itself and finally dessert, everything was wonderful.
We had a wonderful experience at Butter! Perfect for pre-theater dinner!
Amazing Restaurant with great vibes. The food was spectacular!
Dissapointing service. My friend ordered the short ribs and was served the pork chop. We brought it to the attention of our server and they did nothing for us. Basically they wanted nothing to do with it. She wasn’t compensated nor did they bring what she ordered.
Alex Guarnischeli herself came and spoke to us and took pictures. My kids loved it, and the food and service were exceptional.
Pre theatre dinner. We go to Butter ever time we are in NYC. Excellent food and service. Love the Brussels sport salad and the branding!!
Butter is a great find, and we were thrilled when a friend introduced us to the venue. The menu is filled with fresh, flavorful and creative selections, and there is a wine list to appeal to most palates. Service is professional... courteous and timely but not chatty. The only negative was the constant rumbling noise of the A/C units. It's a great value and serves as a wonderful option for pre- or post theater meals.
Food was good but nothing original. My husband enjoyed the pork chop. My steak was ok but not worth the price. Cocktails are overpriced too. You can get a better meal for less at plenty of other places. Atmosphere is very cool although a little loud. Glad I tried it, but probably won’t go back.
My mother and I went here for an early dinner. Our server, Victoria was fabulous and attentive. The chef, Michael Jenkins, even came out to greet us at one point.
The food itself was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the short rib, pork chop, and squid-ink pasta + octopus. Oh, and make sure to leave room for dessert! The non-dairy Neopolitan Sundae was comprised of elements we would never think to put together but were super tasty. A perfect end to our amazing experience!
I booked a 5pm dinner reservation to celebrate my anniversary before a 7pm Broadway curtain. My husband and I were seated about five minutes after the hour. Our server congratulated us on the occasion, confirmed we were going to the theatre, and agreed she would have us ready to leave at 6:30pm. Our appetizers were served at 5:30pm and then we waited. At 6:10pm our server apologized for the delay, admitting the chef was behind due to a large private party and that her manager was aware of the situation. Our entrees were not served until 6:20pm! We literally ate as fast as we could and then proceeded to run to the theatre. Our drinks were not complimentary, our bill was in no way discounted. The manager did not even approach our table. How is it an established four star restaurant cannot appropriately serve a couple celebrating their anniversary pre theatre with advance given notice, because of a private party?! That is a mistake for amateur establishments. We will not be returning.
Comfortable elegance with exceptional service characterized our dinner. The salmon and Bronzino were cooked to perfection, burrata exquisite and the raspberry beignets outstanding!
We look forward to our return!
Incredible Sunday brunch at Butter. The food was interesting and delicious, with a wonderful selection of fruits, breads, salads and savory entrees. Service was bit slow considering it was a buffet. Expensive, but considering the food quality, worth it.
Butter has been on my restaurant wish list for years, and I was thrilled to go. I was worried that it wouldn't live up to the hype and expectations, but it did and more. The short ribs were by far my favorite - so tender, and I loved the twist on French onion soup. The gnocchi mac and cheese and raspberry beignets are also wonderful.
Everything was exceptional from the cocktails to dessert. That’s said, the gnocchi Mac & cheese had to be hand delivered from heaven on silver platters by angels. SO AMAZING!
My wife wanted to try this restaurant and I am glad she insisted we do so. We enjoyed the cavatappi pasta appetizer and absolutely loved the grilled octopus appetizer. Entrees of NY Strip Steak and grilled salmon were delicious. Service was excellent. We dined early (6 pm or so) and the restaurant was relatively quiet and our booth was very comfortable.
Small menu but everything we ordered was delish. Brussels sprouts raw and cooked salad was sensational. Veal bacon quite good. Wanted Branzino until I was told it isn’t served whole, NO! Loved the flowers, who new lowly carnations could be so vibrant and fun!
Food was fantastic, with a number of gluten free options available.
The rolls were the best I ever tasted
Desserts were yummy
Great place, good lunch menu, very quiet for where it is located
Food seemed ok, but the after eating the short ribs I have been sick all night.
The acoustics were so awful that you even couldnt have a normal conversation with your diner partner at the opposite side of the table.
And in all fairness really overpriced in comparisson to the quality.
All in all a disappointing evening.
Delicious food and great ambience. Server was attentive and gave food recommendations
Loved Butter! Have been wanting to come for years! Live in Chicago, when I planned my trip, Butter was at the top! I admire Chef Alex so much, although I was expecting an amazing meal- I was completely blown away! Outstanding food, beautiful decor, great music selection, wonderful staff! Cannot wait to come back!
Fantastic food and very pleasant atmosphere.
A totally wonderful experience. Exceeded expectations. From the cocktail, appetizer, entree and on to dessert there was never an opportunity missed to delight the senses. So happy we chose Butter!
Was one of the best meals I have had in the past 10 years and I eat at some world class restaurants
