combines the serenity of Asia with the flamboyance of 16th century Paris. The menu features fanciful interpretations of Chinese dishes and delights even the most discriminating palates.
I really enjoyed everything even down to the desserts. The food and service was outstanding
Put on your Bucket List
I’ve been to Buddakan a few times and absolutely loved it a but I have to say that this occasion left me a little underwhelmed. Which was disappointing because I was taking a friend for her first BUddakan experience, as she’s from out of town.
I think the main thing that impacted our experience, was the fact that the lady on the table right next to us was holding a dog in her arms.
I love dogs and have one of my own, but this is the last thing I would expect to see at such an upscale restaurant and to have a dog sitting up at the table while we were eating, just didn’t seem right.
Surely this is not allowed?
Yes, id they like Asian infusion food.
We enjoyed the visit. Food was good.
Service was very good.
The noise was loooouddddddddddd.
Buddakan has it all - delicious food, excellent service and beautiful atmosphere and decor. It's a perfect place for a special celebratory dinner and to entertain friends and family from out of town.
Noise was high due to a fire alarm situation going on. All was perfect as for food and service. But the alarms left us worried and concerned.

Always a treat to be at Buddakan. Consistently good food (although the menu is the same since they opened) and excellent service. Spectacular decor. BUT, earsplitingly noise, mainly because of the music which could be turned down—but isn’t.
Food was uninspiring. Not poorly prepared, but not exceptionally flavorful or inventive.
Great food and service as always. Our favorite spot in nyc. Will definitely come back again!
The best place I have went in NY until now!
The music was to loud (as in every NY restaurant) but other than that this was amazing!
Had a great time very up beat, nice vibes
Very cool place, delicious food, amazing music...TOP!!
Always a good time! Food, service, everything always awesome!
Fancy Restaurant with good ambiance, eficious service, nice plates. A place to return next trip to NYC. Nice location if one is in the nearby hotels downtown.
Food was great, service was great! Took a while to be seated with a reservation, but overall great experience and would go back again.
FOOD WAS GREAT,LOVE THE PLACE , GREAT SERVICE.
I JUST WISHED MY RESERVATION WAS WERE IN THE CENTER OF THE RESTAURANT, I DID NOT LIKE THE COACHES.
The atmosphere was perfect and romantic. The cuisine was delicious and came out in a timely manner. Perfect restaurant for a date night or good food and drinks with the girls. I will definitely be back again.
not new to the restaurant, but they never seem to disappoint. if you want to impress someone, this is the place. you'll get a better choice of tables if you reserve at opening times.
very fast service..,but
they ask to ask the entrance along with the dinner without time to enjoy the atmosphere and a drink
My expectation of restaurant dining changed after visiting. From walking in the front door, I felt transferred into another reality with a view of a large tapestry at the hostess’ area. The restaurant feels comfortable and upscale as we were invited to enter the bar. It was dark, colorful, and aged to feel like an Asian bar in a far away land. Come early because you’ll want to have a drink before dinner. When your table is ready, the hostess escorts you into their grand turn of the century dinning room. I felt like I was entering a dream, or a movie or just a fanciful reality. (Not cheesy) I know crazy! We were seated at a table with a antique bird porcelain candle holder with wax dripping everywhere down it. I knew I was in for something special when something you would think would be headed for the donation pile added a touch of magic to the room. This restaurant is perfect for businesses travelers, couples and large parties. Wear black or something sexy because you’ll shimmer in their dining room. A NY tradition you can set on repeat! Enjoy!
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long, long time. My 15-year old son and I went early (5:15 p.m. reservation was all that was available) to celebrate his birthday. The place is dark but not in an old school, romantic way. It was uber cool and swanky. The food was absolutely fabulous- we had two kinds of dumplings (Crispy smoked salmon and the steamed edamame with Sauternes sauce), then the lamp chops with crystalized ginger crust and lobster fried rice. THEN the best desert I’ve possibly had in my adult life... a passion fruit soufflé — I can’t even explain why it was so good but it was perfect. And we had the Crying Chocolate, too. So lovely to share such a beautiful meal with my birthday boy!
malted ganache, vietnamese coffee ice cream
soufflé, crème, caramel
While making reservation specifically ask for down stairs dining area. The overall experience was good. Definitely try black cod, wild mushroom chow fun and chocolate pistachio cremoso for dessert.
Truly fabulous food. Expensive, but lovely. Loved the vibe and staff were great....
Only comment I would have is that I made reservations some time ago, and we still had to wait 45 minutes for a table. Not welcome, especially when trying to impress someone and raving about how great of a place it is.
I had been to both locations before mostly with my wife . This time I went for business and thought it would be a good experience for the people I was with . We had the chefs tasting menu large . It was amazing I normally don’t eat onions and ate everything that had them . The waitress was probably the best service I’ve ever had . I hopefully get to stay out of nyc but will always be my first option if forced to return .
The food was great but the service was stellar. Jenn reinforced that all our selections were good choices. She brought us dessert with a congratulatory note on a cookie because she overhead we were celebrating. Such a great touch! It is the best service I received in a restaurant in a really long time. Thanks Jenn, we will be back to see you!
Excellent experience end to end. Service and food all superb. Not my first time and will certainly come back more often.
Food, service, and all were absolutely fabulous!!! Thanks so much for everything! Will definitely be back!!!
Fantastic restaurant, great food ,service and Ambience....
We were dining there to celebrate my Husbands 50th birthday....we were seated upstairs where they have a bar .....beautiful surroundings....we were asked if we were happy to eat upstairs ..i said no...our host guided us down to the restaurant which was beautiful but continued to walk through to a back room which was not very appealing at all as we had seen the photographs of the main restaurant and wanted to dine there.
I spoke to the host and explained we booked to eat in the main restaurant as it was my husbands 50th birthday the host said he would speak to the manager.....we were seated in the main restaurant which was beautiful.....
i would suggest that alterations are made to your other part of your restaurant to match the high standards of your photographed restaurant online....as i'm sure you would have the same prices throughout the whole restaurant so why not the same standard of surroundings of dining.
The food was delightful....we will recommend this restaurant to others and will return to your restaurant the next time we are in Newyork.
Date Night at our favourite restaurant. This is our go-to spot when in NYC. Buddakan never disappoints! Always amazing food and vibes. Service is top notch. Can’t wait to return!
A friend recommended this restaurant. I had reservations and got a table next to bathroom so really no ambiance. My daughters dinner was tasty but came before drinks (we order martinis). Then our dinner served 10 minutes after. Then when we were done with dinner, bus boy put a plate from another table on our table in order to accommodate our dishes in his tray. Really!
It was my boyfriend's birthday and went unnoticed by the restaurant. Everywhere we went that day there was some celebration.
Beautiful space and delicious food. We were fortunate to have Ryan S. as our server and he was absolutely amazing. His suggestions were right on target and he helped guide us on what we might want and how much. But he never pushed anything - strictly suggestions. The space is beautiful. It's worth the trip.
Service was excellent ! Food at best was so so ! Wish they offered some healthier options or even sushi like Tao does !
our server was spot on, he knew everything about the menu, the new additions to it, gave us suggestion and was really polite. it was a great experience. the food is amazing, worth it every dollar.
Food was amazing but the staff was even more incredible.
This is my second time at Buddakan. My first time was on a Sunday not planned so my experience was satisfactory. We sat upstairs right-aisle table and had the view of downstairs. This time around was a Saturday. I was only able to get a reservation for 2 people at 10PM and I booked on a Wednesday. The best thing about my whole experience this time around was finding a table immediately as we came in at the bar/lounge area as we waited for our table to be ready and we wished we stayed at the bar area. The table we were seated at for dinner was upstairs aisle table left in-front of the glass showcase which positioned our table closer to the aisle. The table was very small and the huge traffic back and forth killed the whole ambiance. Ambiance is what you pay for when dinning at a restaurant like this, especially because it was my boyfriend's birthday. There are plenty of places I could've dined at to get great food. The food was not up to par. For the price, the quality of the food is poor. I didn't eat my food I ordered the sweet and sour shrimp. My boyfriend ordered the Alaskan cod fish and it was slimy. He complained about it and I was so disappointed. The appetizers were nothing to be mentioned they were bland not what you expect for appetizers. I spent $195.46 and we were still hungry when we left the restaurant. I wished I dined at Tao at least the ambiance there is the same for all quest. I will never dine at this restaurant again. All of the ambiance in that restaurant is downstairs so if you can't get a table there, you may as well stay at the bar or go somewhere else.
The food is always amazing. The ambiance is great, I just wish it weren’t so dark. Otherwise, I never have anything less than a wonderful experience at Buddakan.
