Bud & Marilyn's
Have been there before so it was everything I expected. Food and drinks are excellent. Over last year though I haven’t noticed any change in menu though so although everything was excellent (fried chicken and meatloaf this time) I would love to see a few new items also, even if dessert.
For my main course, I ordered Agnolotti with corn, hazelnuts and tomatoes. It was delicious but would have been better with MORE Agnolotti. It was mostly corn.
I really love the cake that I ate(I think it’s a chocolate cake). The lamb steak is pretty good.
I ordered fried chicken and my dinner came to my table almost instantly. The chicken was luke warm and not freshly cooked. I sent it back and asked for a freshly cooked meal. To my surprise both the cook and the manager stated that it wasn’t possible as they cook their chicken in batches and not to order. Wow! I guess they consider themselves more like a fast food restaurant or a grocery store where the food is precooked and sits. The shocking thing was the manager explained this to me and didn’t seem to think this was odd for a restaurant. They didn’t seem to care much and suggested I order a dish other than fried chicken. I did get some free deep fried cheese for my trouble but I doubt I would ever return.
Awesome service, awesome food, awesome time.
Very good food, great service. Bloody Mary was as good as advertised. Great choice for overall value and quality.
There were 4 in our party. Three of us had the fried chicken and one had the ricotta pancakes. The waitperson said the fried chicken was "what we're known for." I found the fries way too soggy and the chicken way too salty. No one else complained, however. As far as the ricotta pancakes go, the ones I make are far better. These seemed to be just regular pancakes with a scoop of ricotta over them. Nothing special. The place was way too noisy, though. Maybe this keeps out older people, but I couldn't even hear the waitperson. So...while everything was just good, I wish things were better, especially given the very positive reviews. Oh, and get drinkable coffee. Maybe it was an off day...
Great brunch. Loved the mimosas and tater tots
This was my second time at Bud & Marilyn’s, the first being brunch— so this was my first dinner experience. Just like brunch, it was fantastic. Great cocktails, great service (our bartender was a gem), and the food is stellar! My boyfriend and I shared the ricotta, duck & chicken liver pate, and the hot Nashville buns. Unreal. Also took home a piece of the chocolate peanut butter malt cake that is otherworldly. I’ve lived in Philly for 10 years and can’t believe it took me so long to get myself there. Highly recommend!!
My wife and I don’t get out much having 8 year old twins. So to have a delicious experience is what we are seeking in a restaurant. Bud and Marilyns did not disappoint!! Would recommend to everyone and looking forward to another dining experience.
Love the place don't go out often but Bud and Marilyn's few places i enjoy
Great food and service
Very nice and food excellent
Food was good but selection was limited. Ambiance and service was very good.
We were visiting Philadelphia from St. Louis and looking for a place to have dinner. Chose Bud and Marilyn’s since it was walking distance from our hotel, casual dress, and not super expensive. We also love comfort food. We made reservations and were seated right away. At first it seemed loud for a Monday evening but we adjusted to the volume. We ordered the pirogies for an appetizer and the fried chicken and meatloaf for entrees. The meatloaf, stuffed with fontina and chard was outstanding. The biscuits were excellent and a bit crunchy on top. My husband lived the fried chicken.
Met up with some friends from out of town for brunch. They loved everything about Bud and Marilyn’s. Such a relaxing environment considering how loud and busy it was. Food was great. Decor on point. Drinks were awesome. Want to try dinner next. Definitely recommend.
It was a delight. The staff was wonderful and the food delicious. Will definitely go back often.
We moved our son into his college apartment then headed to Bud and Marilyn’s for dinner. Service was exceptional. Food was extremely good. Overall a very nice evening.
Everything was delicious. Ourparty enjoyed the short rib stroganoff, the meat loaf and the fried chicken...all of which was delicious!
Fantastic meal and great service!!!!
Bud & Marilyn's "homey" food with a slight twist is quite good and well worth going.
Great food. It's sad to have had to spend decent money on great food only to be forced to clean restrooms. They were horrendous. Killed a promising meal.
It was a fabulous meal. Can’t wait to go back.
Came for lunch once and had a good experience. Came back for dinner and it was event better.
Delicious and refined.
Great place. Very loud. Nice takes on comfort food with eclectic cocktails. Our cheese plate and salad were excellent. Short rib stroganoff and fried chicken were very good, as were the cocktails.
Not our first time here, excellent as always. Great food, great atmosphere.
Both dishes were delicious. We started out with cocktails which were also unique and very good. My daughter and I had the fried chicken and meatloaf. The entree portions are huge. The fried chicken was accompanied by fantastic biscuits and herb butter. The meatloaf had fresh green beans and comfort mashed potatoes.
Great neighborhood find. Great retro style. Love the food.
Excellent food and beyond excellent service! Highly recommend.
great for a casual meal. Tomato salad best part of meal
Had an amazing experience! The food was even better than the service and the service was top notch. My first time here and I can't wait to go back. The pecan cinnamon roll will make your taste buds sing
Great atmosphere, delicious food.
We had a reservation (make one, trust me) so we didn’t have to wait in line. From the second we walked in the entire staff were cheery and welcoming. The food was delicious. I had serious food envy from neighboring tables. Will have to go back.
I've been for dinner a few times and loved everything. Yesterday we went for brunch and the food was mediocre. Best thing ordered was the smoked beet reuben which I'll definitely be back for.
The food was amazing, service was excellent and efficient, and the vibe was very fitting for a date night. Definitely try the fried chicken.
Lovely evening, but wine was v expensive
The food was great. We had fried chicken, fried fish, and some appetizers. The décor is a very tasteful nod to 50's-60's retro. The only issues were that they were out of a lot of things and they refused to accommodate a birthday request that was mentioned at the time of the reservation.
It’s hard to find words to really describe my overall experience while dining at Bud & Marilyn’s. Upon entering I realized this was not your mom & pops backyard bbq. A high end dining establishment that takes the meaning of homestyle-cooking and revitalizes it. With casual decor to elevate the familiar feel of what could’ve been a low-lit diner the ambiance of the evening was entirely relaxed. While i wish the menu, while thorough, was a but more elaborate. But the size doesn’t speak to the quality. Excellent food with such a short wait as well. Other restaurants should be envious. If you must make a stop, and you must eat, then you must try Bud & Marilyn’s
I was disappointed with the amount of drink that was in our glasses for the price and was very disappointed that I couldn't order what I wanted because it was the wrong time of day
Terrific for lunch. My wife’s all-time favorite Cobb Salad, and I had the Gruyere grilled cheese sandwich, with a salad
Very wonderful experience
