    The service was outstanding, attentive, friendly and helpful. However the dining area was so cold, we had to keep out winter coats on. So cold that it distracted us from enjoying the food and our dining experience. The staff responded to our concerns to no avail.

    The service was great. The menu items were good. I ordered the fish and it was okay. Everything was mixed together and I didn't realize that. Not how I like my food. But it tasted fine.

    Excellent food and service. A special 'shout-out' to our server Jessica, who managed a full house with efficiency, speed, charm and friendliness. I ordered the special Roasted Turkey sandwich with parmesan fries and a leafy greens salad. All were prepared to perfection. Totally exceeded my expectations!

    My husband and I went on a double date with our son and his wife. It was the first time 3 of the 4 of us had been to Borealis Grille. We really enjoyed our time there though there was a breeze where we were sitting so it was a little chilly. The buttermilk fried chicken was really good, it was juicy and not dry at all, the coleslaw was ok and could have used a little more flavour. The sauces were delicious as well. Only thing I wished was for the 2 piece dinner they would have used a larger plate (it was on a smaller plate than the one piece meal)we needed to use an extra plate to put the second piece of chicken. Hubby had the feature tacos and said they were really good! We will definitely go back at some point, maybe next time for the Wednesday date night special.

    Went here for a friends birthday. The venue is unique in design; atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. Glad we made a reservation as it was quite busy. This was reflected in the very slow start. Our drink order was taken promptly but took almost an hour to arrive. Nachos ordered at the same time came about 10 minutes after the drinks. We had to ask for cutlery and napkins and side plates, didn’t get any water refills. Luigi saved the day by coming around to ask if we wanted another beverage before the mains arrived. The best part of the experience was the food; every bite was delicious. Fried chicken was super moist and crispy, steak was luxuriously enrobed in butter and Parmesan fries were addictive. We are from out of town so not sure we’ll go back but it was fair enough to recommend if you have time to linger.

    A shame there was only one server for the large room on the main floor especially the on party of 25 people. As a result serving was slower than expected. Food was delicious.

    Our server was fantastic but the food took forever to come out. I ordered the fish and chip and the were definitely on the over cooked side. We had a nice evening but food was disappointing.

    We love the idea of local centric restaurant fare. Both mains had the issue of not enough sauce, causing the final bites of the dish to feel dry. The decor had a very interesting contrast between old/rustic and new/shiny.

    Server was great. Punctual, professional, polite. Amazing food as well. And I love the fact that it's all local. Went here with 2 friends, plus my friend had her child with her - the server actually went out of his way to go the extra mile for the child, who was super excited about the flatbread he had!

    Six friends met for lunch in the old school house room. Service was patient, and the food was delivered as ordered. The server made us feel very welcome as we were more interested in re-connecting than in eating at first. The lunch menu was varied enough to meet everyone's tastes.

    There were 6 of us for my wife’s birthday. We have been to Borealis many times because we like the ‘obsessively local’ idea, and the food is usually excellent. This time - not so much. Out of all 6 of us, I think my meal was the only one that was moderately good (of course, you have to be having a really bad day to mess up buttermilk fried chicken). The rest of us were not so lucky. A duck confit that was pretty much ‘roast chicken, but duck’ a poutine so overloaded with some unknown spice so as to make it mostly inedible, a chicken supreme that had been sitting so long before making it to the table that the garnish was wilted and there was a ‘skin’ on the gravy, and so on. Needless to say we will not be back - obsessively local is only good when it it’s prepared with care and cooked properly. Time to find a new restaurant for birthdays and special occasions. Such a shame, we really liked Borealis :(

    Our waiter was amaaazing! Energetic happy and engaged in service. The chicken salad was only ok really sounded better than it was. Regardless we had a great time but wouldn’t order the salad again.

    The waitstaff are phenomenal and the food value was good. It's somewhat expensive, but the quality and taste are excellent. They were very quick to respond to any foods issues and resolved them without any fuss. Highly recommend if you're looking for a lovely, good-quality meal.

    The food took over fifty minutes to arrive. Some of it arrived cold. The turkey burger was burnt to a crisp. There was seven of us and only two were happy with their meals. The manager did remove the burger from my bill and gave me a gift voucher. I will try it again and perhaps it will be better.

    A restaurant that prides itself on sourcing local and does not disappoint. The food is so fresh and ingredients are allowed to take the spotlight without hiding behind a lot of salt or sugar. As part of the Date Night menu, we ordered the vegetable soup (a puree of pumpkin, squash, etc) and a salad. The soup was delicious, and the salad was not drowning in dressing or cheese (actually, I don't think there was any cheese; instead they had it topped with pickled onion - yum!). For entrees we both ordered the seared trout that was topped with red cabbage and arugala (both of which were so flavourful!). Trout was perfectly cooked to have a nice crisp edge but moist inside. To end, we had an Apple Crumble and a Creme Brulee. The apple crumble was nice and warm and you could really taste the apples (as opposed to just sugar as one would find elsewhere). The creme brulee equally was delicious with the flavours of the custard coming out and not hiding under loads of sugar. The restaurant is brightly lit so probably not something for a first date, maybe a 3rd or 4th? The atmosphere is a more social one than a romantic one. Can't get over how delicious everything was and would definitely go back again! The staff is great, but didn't get the pleasure of meeting its local star, Luigi!

    First time in this restaurant/pub. Very friendly staff. ordered the soup of the day, pork belly flat bread and the smoked pork chop. all the food was oaky but the chop was the star. Thick cut and cooked to perfection. the sides of cabbage and roasted potatoes were okay but shouldn't be combined on the plate. I would recommend the Borealis as the value is good and the portion sizes were excellent.

    Blackened chicken taco salad was bland and had insufficient amount of dressing. There were only three small pieces of chicken in the salad. Apple cobbler had two tiny spoonfuls of vanilla ice cream; not the equivalent of one normal scoop.
