I highly recommend Bookbinders. I recently celebrated my 30th birthday there with a intimate dinner for a party of 2. The server was outstanding. He was knowledgeable about the menu and offered plenty recommendations. He checked in periodically throughout our meal. The food was 10/10. We choose the broiled stuffed salmon and a couple lemon drop martinis. My tastebuds went crazy. The customized birthday menu for me was a cute touch. I was also presented with a slice of cake with a candle. Nice atmosphere with soft music playing. It was worth the ticket lol pricey but worth it

BookBinders delivers well rounded service, food tastes pretty good. I ordered the cowboy cut steak which had great flavor. The salmon also tastes great as those are recommendations. The value is good, it is not a subpar restaurant and the prices are not subpar. Staff was great as well.

I took my fiance here for his birthday. We are from NC but were working in VA, so I googled great places to eat and this was the one I chose to take him to and was pleasantly surprised. Our waiter was amazing, the food was amazing, the whole experience was great. We would definitely go back here.. it was a wonderful experience to say the least. We ordered the tuna app, clam chowder, wedge salad, surf & turf, large filet, and mushrooms.. delicious! You must try :)

What an amazing place. It has so much history and is so different from any other resteraunt we have ever been to. The owner John Was walking around checking on every single meal and just conversing with everybody. I love going to a family-owned place like this It really makes the difference and sets the bar so high but I don't know if we ever want to go to a different restaurant lol which I did breakfast lunch and dinner!! Definitely a bucket list type of place!

We always go to Bookbinders for special events. It's consistently excellent in food, service and ambiance. One of Richmond's best restaurants.

The restaurant has a very nice layout, and has historical brick walls and beams. The lighting is brash, only because the natural light is a high contrast to the darker room, so my left eye was bathed in light, while my right was in darkness, which makes for uncomfortable vision when you are trying to focus on the person in front of you. The door remained locked after 5pm and several couples were left standing outside, waiting. Our server, and everyone we met that worked there, were nice. I can say for sure they do not enforce their dress code. I ordered an expensive entree ($76) and it came with just a lump of crab meat and an 8oz. steak, but no sides. The lack of even a small amount of vegetables on the side, for even a garnish, struck me as cheap. The steak was fine, but not great, and the lump crab was only fair. The desserts were a bit pricey but delicious. Overall, because of the cost, my meal was not certainly not worth it. There are other restaurants in Richmond that serve just as good or better steak and seafood for half the cost. I do not ever plan to come back again.

Our waitress Amanda was absolutely amazing. She had a great attitude, knew the entire menu, suggested her favorites and was honest. This was our first time dining here and it was for my girlfriend and i’s anniversary, we will definitely be back to see her serving or when she’s on bar. 10/10 experience.

This is definitely a special occasion place but we'll worth it..my wife and I's steaks were Amazon. It wss my wife's Birthday and the printed a menu with her name on it which wss an awesome touch!

The food is good, a bit overpriced but you expect that there. The service has been a disappointment each time I have gone. The waiter was friendly, but made it clear he wanted us to order quickly and leave quickly. I understand table turnover means more tips but to continue to ask customers to order is annoying. We were there for a birthday celebration and he kept asking us if we were ready to order our entrees. Asking twice is ok but he asked us 5xs! I found that to be very rude and made us feel unwanted. Also, it was not a busy night because the staff at the door were sitting and laughing and looking at their phones.

The food and service was awesome! The only reason I gave 4 stars was because the steak I got was interesting. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it wasn't bad. The lobster mac and cheese is everything! !

I thoroughly enjoyed the service, they definitely made our occasion special with their thoughtful service and professionalism. The food was good and also surprisingly unique which I appreciated followed by their generous portions. Will definitely be inclined to come back. Thanks for accommodating our 1 year anniversary!

This was my first time at Bookbinders. I will definitely be back. The quality of food is worth the price. The wait staff was very attentive but not intrusive. The reasturant was a little loud but it was because si many tables were celebrating and enjoying their meals. You can book a private dinning room and we may try that for our next visit to see the difference.

I love Bb food normally but the mushroom dish was very oily so much that we didn’t eat it. My daughter would not tell the waiter but I feel like it’s an expensive meal I was hoping the waiter would have noticed it was basically untouched & offer her something else.

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner for two. Zach was our server and did a great job. Very professional. Even the hostess at the door greeted us with a warm "Happy Anniversary"! But the food was really unbelievable...so good!

Amazing meal from start to finish. Excellent service - our server was very kind about taking photos of the table, etc. Every dish we ordered was fantastic, from appetizers to salads to entrees to desserts. This is one of the best meals I have had in my life, including fine dining in multiple countries and various parts of the US. I am especially grateful because we brought two family members who do not get to eat this way often, and it felt wonderful for them to have such a great time.
