What Insiders Are Saying
Having dinner in Berners Tavern feels like eating inside the Sistine Chapel, or at least a really, really rich guy’s house.
Lovely dinner with friends at Berners, from aperatives at the bar, the excellent sommelier (the P2 was amazing) great food and champagne cocktails to finish in a lovely environment.
My second time & will definitely be back.
We dined early so restaurant had no real ambience but I guess it does when it’s busier. The service was exceptional but we were disappointed with the food overall. Dessert was amazing but main wasn’t as great as we hoped it would be. Our bread was stale and we had to send it back.
Ww were really looking forward to dining here but don’t think we’ll be returning.
I would recommend this place for the atmosphere and amazing service. Food (from the brunch menu), however, was not tasty at all, small portions, bad value for many. Drinks were really good though.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Creative cocktails and great food, and incredible presentation of food.
Burners Tavern is a sophisticated but friendly restaurant with an inventive menu of British cuisine. It’s a great venue for a special fun night out with friends, less suited to serious business: it is at the noisy end of vibrant & the music is not in the background!
You are immediately offered Champagne when you sit down.
The service and food were first rate -we both had the roasted lamb. Very good. My wife as a celiac appreciated the prompt arrival of gluten free bread which was very good. My only complaint was the wine by the glass was very expensive and very chincy on the pour.
Very poor service. Kids meal arrived very late. Meat came without sauce. It took forever to get a drink.
Extent poor service
Love this restaurant. Just a shame we were rushed to have the table back.
No better place for Atmosphere, service and quality of food.
Beautiful setting and excellent food. Only thing that could be improved was the speed of getting drinks, but other than that the staff were wonderful, polite and very accommodating. Thank you!
Sunday Roast. It was in general ok, not a disaster but not great. We had the pork belly and it was just not nice at all. Meat was a little tough, too much fat and the crackling just wasn't crackling. For £28 it should have been incredible but it wasn't at all. The veg/yorkies/gravy were great but the star of the show was a massive let down. Service was good but too slow. It's a very expensive lunch and it needed to be 10/10 for that price but because of the poorly executed pork belly and slow-ish service it's a 5/10 from me. Gutted.
Poor food, good ambience. Small portions with nothing special
Everything was absolutely amazing. A truly fantastic experience!
The atmosphere was nice but the all of the food I ate were terrible. The steak was too salty, mint soup was just bad taste. I expected the food before I went there but after visiting there, I was so disappointed with your food.
‘Warmest’ room in the city
The menu is over priced for food that was pretty average. The wine prices were even more pricey Noise levels were high, especially the music. Also, inappropriate behaviour from the person I assume was The Maître De.
Very nice place with very good service. the staff was polite and helpful A bit expensive but after all a very pleasant experience for dinner.
Lovely venue which I go to fairly often. However service has got progressively worse over the last 12 months. My table of 2 had to wait ages to be served for both food and wine. The food was nice but extremely expensive which you can just about accept if the service is excellent but when it isn’t you effectively end up with £100 per head bill for a bistro service and average/good food which doesn’t make sense. The wine list is also ridiculous and unless you spend silly money you end up with vinegar for £50-£70. For that price most places will give you a decent bottle but not here...they need to stop trading off their excellent dining room and focus on basic service and value
Great restaurant. Food was wonderful. Loved the atmosphere. We were visiting from New York and dinner here was a really nice way to end our trip
Sunday lunch time for the weekend roast. The place is amazing... very stylish hall, very polite and professional staff and great quality of food. We got the pork pie, which was very tasty and really well presented, the mac n' cheese with cooked beef added (waiter's recommendation), which was absolutely amazing - a "must", and the roast chicken, half of which unfortunately I found slightly undercooked and mentioned it to the waiter. The sides for the roast (potatoes, vegetables, yorkshire puddings) were very good. We also got cocktails which were really good and a very rich and tasty chocolate desert. At the end I saw that the chicken dish was deducted from the bill, which I found very professional of them and therefore I tipped our waiter extra. Overall it was a very good experience and I would definitely visit the restaurant again.
We booked a table for 4 people - due to availability this was at 22:00. It was my partners Birthday and as such I wanted it to be special.
Firstly we were never given any bread for the table, we had to complain first. I ordered a Rib Eye steak which was the worse I’ve ever had. It was like leather, it’s not something I expect from a restaurant of this level.
We paid over £400 for our meal and it was average for all of us.
I will think twice before booking your restaurant for a special occasions again.
Good atmosphere in the dining room
Great pre dinner cocktails
Pretty nice place with great foods. But the price is a little bit high.
The service and the food where under my expectations
Such a gorgeous room! We loved everything. The cocktails were moctails but ok...the food was great except for the broccoli which tasted like chemicals and didn’t need to be charbroiled.
Brilliant brunch paired with great surroundings.
The Berners Tavern provides a sophisticated and stylish environment for a night out. The service is flawless and the food is amazing! I will continue to return as I cannot fault anythint about this place!
Chateubriand was not hot and not served on a warm plate. Staff were very attentive at offering more bottles of wine ( before w ordered food). Boone came to ask us what we thought of the food a few min after being served which at this price we would expect . If they had we. Might have sent chateaubriand back. Atmosphere excellent and ambiance /decor fabulous .. food experience did not match
Went on a Saturday evening for our anniversary & it was phenomenal
Went to Berners Tavern for my birthday, they very kindly brought over a little chocolate moose cake with a happy birthday message at the end of the meal - the waiter was very friendly, knew a lot about the menu. We were there in the late afternoon which is probably why it wasn’t too loud - food was great and the decor/ambience was fantastic. The champagne trolly was a particular highlight!
Breakfast - the full English was *ok*
Went to Berner’s with my wife and two children. Food and service were very good. Having said that, it’s more of a dinner place, at least to us, with staff in bow ties and a more formal air about it. Didn’t fully suit a family wearing shorts in town for a long weekend, though that never impacted the quality of the service, and it was our job to know that before going. Would recommend if you want that setting.
Very noisy, good waiters and the food was not the top.
Good food and a nice atmosphere. The service at the table was good ,especially the way the waiting staff who managed our concerns re a guest with a nut allergy was excellent. However, very it was disappointing that our table was not ready until 30 minutes after our reservation time and then we had to ask to place our food order after sitting at the table for 15 minutes with no sign of anyone wanting to take our order. I noticed this did not apply to serving us your over priced champagne almost before we had even sat down at the table. I would like to suggest that if you need to keep people waiting for their table you at least offer them a drink and give them a realistic waiting time. I am sure that
if we had arrived 30 minutes you would not have kept our table for us.
Great food... friendly and attentive service.... but pretty pricey!.... ambience and setting however is amazing!
Dinner for my birthday with a couple of friends. Very pleasant welcoming staff., A little cake was brought to the table, Great experience all round.
The bacon was very tough. The cutlery needed sharpening.
Orange juice was nice, probably not go back for breakfast.
Amazing place to have dinner with group of friends
lovely breakfast experience in a relaxed setting. They do poached eggs perfectly.
