Benihana - New York
Everything was good, but price was really expensive
Excellent food, good service. Would recommend! Restaurant was very noisy, ok as we were only two, it had you been a group of more than 4 it would have been hard to have a conversation.
Mother’s Day dinner with my Mother. We had a lovely time at The hibachi restaurant. The food was great. The staff was friendly and accommodating. My Mom enjoyed everything.
Amazing, timely and great food as always.
Estuvimos en la plancha tepanyaki que nos pareció apenas normal pero salimos oliendo terrible con toda la ropa impregnada de olor a comida
The comfort was a bit compromised because there were too many persons from other parties assigned to our table. Two of the six in our group were forced to sit away from the table.while eating.
There was some disappointment because the reservation was made very early.
It was mother’s day and they cramped us is in a table, my mom couldnt move her arms to eat! Other tables had 8 tops but they added 1 chair to our table and we were sat with large guests so it was very cramped for us. It was very awkward eating we couldnt move our arms or we would bump against each other. It was a very frustrating experience i looked around other tables and they seem to not have that problem, they all had adequate space to eat comfortably
The service was great and the food was delicious. 👌 Definitely will be going back!
My first time there with my family, and it was amazing!
The chef wasn’t very engaging at all, the restaurant seemed dirty, and the food wasn’t anything spectacular. We’ve been to other Benihana restaurants and this didn’t live up our expectations.
The ambiance of Benihana is gone. Waitresses in Kimonos, staff knowing the Japanese birthday song, the Japanese atmosphere is fading. I felt rushed for the next setting & the show of chef was so forced. Not natural and funny the way it use to be. I guess I am sentimental, but I have been coming here for over 20 years, and it become so commercial, the novelty is gone.
The downstairs staff scolded me for talking to my friend too near to the desk, while they where on the phone, no smiles, no kindness. The upstairs staff was vey nice and the food was very good, but I felt rushed. That's not what I want in a dining experience. I will be visiting other hibachi restaurants to compare
Good luck to you
I love Benihana and was very excited to celebrate my girlfriends birthday, until... we were left waiting for 1 hr and 1/2 for our chef to show up (with reservation), noticed our waiter was taking awfully long for everything, and especially when it came to paying the check. The check was paid mostly in cash and the rest on 2 cards. We asked our waiter for change and he didn’t bother to bring anything back. Which led us to ask for the change again. Upon leaving we realized that someone paid double what they were supposed to and didn’t notice with enough time to say something to the waiter. on top of the fact that he didn’t bother to mention the mishap or bring back the change we asked for. (They happened to pay in cash) unfortunately. Just a bad experience at a place I actually love! Waiter kept about $200 tip for poor and slow service on a check that at 20% tip would be less than $100. Completely Disappointed.
Worst experience ever. They sat us 45 minutes after our reservation. They put the cart with the food near peoples hair. The hygiene is not valued at all.
Seated us 1 hour late. Grill downstairs didn’t work. Chef late to the table. Had to move tables. Overall they don’t have their stuff together.
Went to Benihana to celebrate my fiance' graduation. Had a later reservation but the event ended early so the staff accommodated us with no trouble (was a party of 6). The food was great and our chef and attendant were equally entertaining. Another family at the table were celebrating a birthday so it was double the fun. We enjoyed everything. My one complaint (a minor one) was that a few of the items I ordered were not available (sold out of the supplies ran out). Overall: a fun family experience.
I have been to plenty of Hibachi restaurants and this bar far is the worst! From the yummy sauce which tasted like mayo and ketchup to the sesame seeds in the rice and veggies. It’s low quality hibachi ! Please take notes from Edos in Pehlam maner ...
Well. Possibly the blandest food we've ever had in NYC, in a setting right out of a mid size American city suburban chain hotel nightmare. Why were we even here? For my son's 11th birthday. He thought it was hilarious. Our Indian 'chef' joked no less than 3 times about soy sauce being "Japanese Coco-Cola". Even the 'showtime' theatrics were poor (the Japanese teppanyaki chefs of my childhood were positive ninja's in comparison). Well, we'll leave it to the tourist newbies from now on.
I celebrated my birthday with my husband on Wed night. The service was good and food was excellent. Only flaw I had was the charging fried rice for dinner entree menu. The server was asking if we want a white rice or fried rice without explaining that the fried rice will be charged. When I saw the bill, I was surprised for additional $10 charging, but i let that go because it was my birthday and I just wanted to enjoy. I ask you that you should indicate additional charges for certain items.
Been to Benihana a lot and found the food at this location the best.
My family loves hibachi! We’ve probably eaten at 10 random hibachi restaurants in various suburban towns. Benihana is the most famous of all the hibachi restaurants which is probably why it was the biggest letdown. When you walk in, it looks more like a sports bar than a Japanese restaurant. The food just wasn’t as good, dare I say it was bland or not special. The waiters were nice and accommodated my dietary restrictions but they were also a bit off.
The seating was too tight. 10ppl should not be sitting at one table. We should have elbow room not sitting on top of each other. It was my first time at this restaurant and I was not satisfied.
Service was good food was good would have liked to have been greeted when we arrived or at least thanks for coming.
Small portions, bland food.
I love this restaurant!!!!! Each and every time I eat at this restaurant. .... I enjoy every second of the experience. Muahhhhhhh! !!!
Miso soup was watery and not as good as before. Salad dressing has changed and not the usual pungent taste as before. Soy sauce not present on table.
Went for my fiancé's birthday.
Had signed up at the Chef's Table, so we got a voucher.
The voucher had no bar code on it to be scanned, so i called the restaurant to let them know, abnd they told me to come with it and to show it anyway.
We got to the restaurant, and i talked about this voucher to 3 people.
Everybody said it was ok until the moment the bill came.
My boyfriend had his ID to proove it was his bday, but nobody would take the printed voucher, neither look at my email or try to figure out what was wrong.
So the food was good, the cooker was nice, but the way i have been treatwd about the $30 bday gift was awful.
Awesome chef. Felt like there was less food served than is usual at Benihana though.
The one back home in Atlanta need to take notes....The chef was nice...wait staff and hostess
Overall we had a great experience, however the server was not very knowledgeable about the menu. He didn’t know anything about the sake and I had to remind him that the meal came with ice cream. Otherwise we had a delightful experience.
I have mix feelings as we always go to this location but as the year pass the place and service gets worse. The restroom always have an awful smell. The chefs and service are great. The hostess aren’t as helpful & courtesy as past times. If prices are high make the place look it’s part...
So much fun but food was below average and restaurant was unclean
We have been sick as hell 2h after the meal. Something was definitively not clean/healthy in the food.
Overall amazing experience. Only negative comment would be on the wait. Despite having a 9pm reservation, we had to wait 30 minutes to be seated.
My reservation was for 9 PM but they didn’t seat us until 9:45
Waited over 40 min with a reservation. When asked about the status of the reservation they kept saying next table and another 15 minutes passed. First floor hostess was rude with an attitude that she didn’t care about our wait time. Our chef Daniel was great and food was good.
Food was not as expected. It was poorly cooked and was not to our liking. We had to continue to ask the chef to do certain things which he should have already been doing. This was our least favorite experience at Benihana and it has turned us away from the restaurant.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation and it took that long to fight our way to the hostess stand to check in. We were then told that it could be up to 45 minutes until we would be seated.
After sitting at the table for 20 minutes and still not even a glass of water, we finally went to the hostess stand and asked for some. Another 15 minutes and we were able to order. After an hour, still no food.
The service was terrible the food was terrible.
Basically, don’t go.
We had a reservation for 7.30 while we got seated at 8.10pm! Then we were waiting at the table at least 10-15 min before the waiter came to us for the drinks. This is completely unacceptable and shall be noted otherwise we would have reserved a different restaurant. The chef was excellent however this late start completely ruined the experience.
We were seated at a table with our four year old granddaughter where the other side of the table hadn’t even gotten their appetizers so they had the hibachi server going for twenty minutes before they filled our table side. Once they did, and we had a chef, he served the new people on our side before us, ignored our little girl, including not putting food on her plate until we asked. We ordered the ocean treasure dish and a filet mignon dish. The ocean treasure at 52 dollars, consisted of four tiny scallops, a small lobster tail and four small shrimp, truly a sunken treasure. All in all, a bad experience at one of her favorite places.
Good place to take the family and very attractive cost/benefit.
