Bateau's selection of steaks are butchered and dry-aged in house and presented on a chalkboard that changes daily. Steaks are butter basted and finished with your choice of finishing butter. Chef Taylor Thornhill also offers a 5 course beef-centric Tasting Menu with optional beverage pairings.
Had a wonderful time here for our anniversary dinner. Wish we had informed them of our anniversary before I booked the table as they take special note for couples celebrating to make them feel special.
We had the best experience possible. Every single member of the staff made us feel like they had waited weeks for our visit. The food was delicious. Everything was wonderful. We'll be talking about it for a long time - at least until our next visit :)
Meat was just excellent. Wine by glass very bad.
Perfect place for our anniversary. Flew in from Italy to come hear for our first dinner back in 3 years. Definitely worth the visit. Will come again.
From the atmosphere to the service and the food it was a magical experience. The service staff was really knowledgable and helpful navigating the menu and everything was just so delicious! For a steak restaurant, the approach was creative and worked well. All the appetizers and side were on par with our main dishes and the wine list was awesome. Really a dream meal!
We had a fantastic time at Bateau. It was our first time dining there and the experience of ordering off the meat board (and the knowledgable staff guidance) was wonderful. The steaks were phenomenal. The sides spectacular.
The food is expensive. But worth it.
Amazing food, amazing service! Never disappoints! Try other cuts of beef each visit. And always leave room for dessert- potato ice cream!!!
Food was outstanding! But we waited way too long with our menus before anyone came up take our orders!
Incredible dinner with my son! We had a 29 oz ribeye & 18 oz chuck eye - both perfectly cooked and succulent beyond belief.
The staff is outstanding- we were guided through the evening by 3 knowledgeable and attentive caretakers. We felt spoiled from the minute we stepped in the door.
We really enjoyed our experience. Next time we’ll have our steak cooked a litte more done but flavors were spot on for every dish including cocktails and wine.
Excellent tasting menu and service. Very creative. Will return.
AMAZING. Expect it to be spendy - it was $320 for the two of us, with both of us doing the tasting menu, splitting a 5 oz steak, and we each had 1.5 glasses of wine. THAT SAID. Completely worth it. The staff knows their stuff (thanks, Mario - you’re an absolute gem), the ambiance is lovely, the food is out of this world, and any other beef is ruined for me for the foreseeable future.
Absolutely the best Sirloin I’ve ever had- served by people who are knowledgeable. Do get the potato ice cream for dessert!
The food was great! The portions were a decent size. The menu could have used more appetizers and sides that paired along with main courses of meat, instead of just trying display meat creatively. Overall a good experience and the cuts of meat for the main course were great.
The food is out of this world! Staff and service are superb.
Everything was very nice and very fun for our special occasion. But is grass fed rib eye really worth $100 a pound? Not really, but still worth the one time splurge!
Fantastic steak. Some of best I’ve had in Seattle. And so many unique cuts. Great wine. Appetizers and desserts also delightful.
We come every year when we visit Seattle. I look forward to it all year. So perfect and wonderful! Thank you for working so hard to make the best food!
I really like the concept of this restaurant and there are a lot of things to like. However, overall we did not have a good experience, and likely will not be back. First the good. The atmosphere and the service were good, as well as 2 of our 6 dishes. I understand wanting to be push boundaries and create something different, which ultimately will end up with some fails or some folks not liking everything. However, when nearly all of the dishes contain beef and 90% of the dishes are primarily beef the best dishes of the night better be beef dishes, and that just was not the case. First, the best 2 dishes of the night (and they really were good) were the chickpea salad and the roasted mushrooms. The carpaccio had potential but the meat was under seasoned, and it was also completely overpowered by raw shallots and copious amounts of dill. Next up side dishes which besides the mushrooms, we had cauliflower (just trying to get something a bit lighter and fresher next to all the meat). However, this dish is quite possibly the worst dish I have had at an upscale restaurant - odd texture and tasted like a cross between a cough drop and sour milk. For the main course, we got 2 different steaks both of which were ok, but also both over seasoned and one was under-cooked (rare instead of med-rare).
What a terrific birthday celebration we had for my husband. We shared three different steaks and finishing butters. Each was delicious and unique! Perfect for his birthday! Can't wait to go back!!
Okay okay, so I’m not a huge meat eater so I really had no business being here in the first place. My buddy is a meatatarian and he said both steaks were fantastic, prob cause they were covered in a variety of butters. The sides were prob my only issue, i prob would’ve preferred a little more selection but hey that’s just me. My favorite was the wine list, we had an absolutely stunning French Gammy that was recommended by our server, who by the way was hilarious and just a good time. It’s a great concept and offers steak lovers a taste of tons of different cuts and grades. A real meat eater would give this place a 5 star. Keep up the good work.
The food, service and drinks are wonderful here. It is an open environment, so it’s not the best place for an intimate night out, but it’s not so noisy that you can’t have a conversation. They have an extensive selection of cuts and all are dry-aged! While the standard cuts are pretty pricey, if you are willing to trust your server and try non-standard cuts you can find a great value. Also, their libations menu is well selected.
Excellent food! Outstanding menu. Very good service.
Food was outstanding. I tried a new cut of steak (Bavette) and loved it - usually, I order the filet. Chicory salad, cauliflower, mushrooms - all were so delicious! Also, the service was fantastic. Highly recommend!
I describe it as a rare place where magic happens!
After an excellent first visit: I was extremely disappointed with my second visit to Bateau. After initially being told that the bar was first come first serve, I was then told that I couldn’t sit at the bar because somebody else had reserved it, even though I sat there last time and I had a reservation this time, the party was not there at the time and the hostess did not know when they were supposed to arrive. This option was not available on open table and it seemed very questionable that certain customers can get to pick where they sit and that while I was not able to. I spent $320 last time and was excited to get the same thing this time, so not sure if someone spends more gets whatever seat they want. Not sure why I was treated this way, I will never go back.
Great experience! Cool concept!
This was the first time my friends and I dined at Bateau, and the food lived up to the hype I’ve heard about this place. Each of our steaks were cooked perfectly, every side was sublime, particularly the mushrooms! And the potato ice cream for dessert finished the meal off beautifully! The staff were all extremely helpful and knowledgeable and we felt so well taken care of throughout the meal (the water glasses never hit empty!). Next time we go I will request a table against the window because we sat right beneath the chalkboard with he lists of available cuts of beef available and when cuts are ordered, staff come around with a giant pool stick-like thing with chalk on the end to cross them off the list as not available and about every few minutes or so, I was having to lean to the side so as not to get in the way, get hit with the stick or get chalk on me. So that was a bit awkward, but only affects 2-3 tables in the small restaurant, so it’s easily requested when you make reservations to avoid those tables.
The food is superb, and worth the price, which is not cheap, but I highly recommend the splurge if you enjoy a good steak!
10/10 everything was perfect. The decor, the food, the service, the wine, the menu, ect....... OMG I felt transported back to one of my favorite restaurants in Paris where I ate regularly for years. I truly appreciate a wonderful dining experience. Bravo! Encore! 👏👏👏👏👏
There was a huge selection of cuts and our server helped us navigate the menu. Also helped select a fabulous wine to go with our beef selection. A truly lovely experience.
Steak was actually a bit underwhelming (I tried the Denver and the chuck) but starters and sides were amazing
Good selection of beef. Server very knowledgeable and attentive.
Excellent steaks and sides, Very good service. Desserts are also nice. I liked the wine list with good wines at a decent price.
Lovely but crazy expensive for what it is.
Please note there is hanging sides of beef in view.
Great food. Great waitress. How a celebration meal should be. Thank you!
Get the burger
Wonderful concept and food, but you can't hear anything in there. Music was waaaayyyy too loud.
Excellent service from start to finish. Our host who sat us was very polite and informative. Jessica our server was absolutely amazing. My experience with her service at Bateau truly reminded me of how good it feels to bask in sincere hospitality. The team worked cohesively throughout the entire evening and we never felt rushed or ignored. The steak was cooked to perfection as I expected it to be, and the potato chips were to die for.
Bateau is a gem. The ambiance, service and food are all spectacular. We were greeted warmly and treated to an exceptional experience. The cocktails were inspired variants of classics.
