What Insiders Are Saying
The incredible People Watching available at Balthazar makes scrunching into a tiny table and overpaying for brunch totally worth it. Say whatever you want about this place, you can’t take away the fact that the kitchen gets it done.
A bustling awesome dinner spot. With Parisian vibes we chatted the night away. Duck confit was outstanding, salmon and prepped steak were delicious. Highly recommended, will make it back even though we live in San Diego.
Everything was pretty well done except the duck confit...was served out of the deep fryer to crisp it I am assuming but the fryer oil was old and it had a really not so pleasant taste. Overall a decent experience.
La comida deliciosa, las porciones demasiado grandes, mi esposo y yo compartimos un platillo y una entrada, nos hubiera gustado probar algo más pero ya era demasiada comida, el servicio bueno pero los meseros muy sangrones y los tenías que estar buscando
It was an enjoyable evening. The service was professional. The food was delicious. The noise level was a little loud.
Standard reliable food. Safe bet. Very noisy.
This is a Top 5 restaurant for me in NYC. The food and atmosphere cannot be beat. Brunch is my particular favorite, and last Sunday's visit did not disappoint, from our perfect Bloody Mary's, to the escargot, and Eggs Benedict - all superb. Brought friends that had never been and they loved it too. Until next time!
My husbands birthday. Service was awesome!
Lovely , lively and yummy. Service good.
Only complaint tables are too close together, can’t have a private conversation.
The brunch was terrible. The pastries were hard and stagnant. They put it in microwave after we asked to heat it and it was boiling hot on the outside and hard in the inside. The pastry my egg dish came on was hard as a rock. I asked for a steAk knife to cut through and it still was impossible. I gave up so I ate the eggs and I gotta tell you they tasted like boxed eggs, Not fresh eggs. My dish was 30 bucks. What a terribly disappointing way to start your wknd and what rip off. This was my first review btw. I just had to say something.
One more wonderful brunch for our nephew's Birthday 🎉
Food was excellent I loved the escargot drinks amazing staff was great as well
Excellent food and service. Wine options are also great. The only negative point was the noise and the excessive number of tables. Restaurant was overpacked, you could not have a nice conversation. And leaving the restaurant was also a challenge: tons os tables on the way.
Balthazar in terms of decor and menu is akin to an authentic Parisian brasserie. The food is good and satisfying as is the wine list. The service is highly attentive and knowledgeable. Changing the highly authentic paper tablecloth after the main course and before dessert is rarely done in Paris and is disruptive to conversation. Sitting cheek by jowl with the people next to you is indeed authentic as far as French brasseries go but the result of cramming so many happy patrons in the large space was noise of snow-blower proportions. We were there on a Saturday evening and I warrant it would be quieter for lunch, brunch, and other times in the week. I unhesitatingly recommend Balthazar for a good meal.
Checking in with hostess was too chaotic. Otherwise, the food and service were excellent
There was a considerable wait to be seated, however our party was not alone in the confusion. I realize that the restaurant is a massively popular business, however over 30 minutes to wait for a reservation can be bothersome. We were given complementary flutes of champagne for our inconvenience. Service and food was wonderful.
Live in the neighborhood
Been there for years . I am there for convience and when out of town visitors “have” to go there. Just taking the time to review it - how soulless is the experience
There are other issues related to management that makes me not want go back
We have been eating here every time we are in the city, but it was our first Sunday Brunch. As expected everything was terrific. You can't go wrong.
Had a superb breakfast. Impeccable service and charming interior. Great neighborhood to walk through afterwards. Worth the detour.
Always a great!
Balthazar always makes the everyday special. A delightful room with delicious food
This was my second visit. Most favourite tower of fresh delicious first quality seafood! Fois gras was the finest. Duck was most tasty . Love the hustle and bustle of the place. Part of its charm. Attention to detail is important. Wait staff is excellent. Almost invisible as food and plates appear and magically disappear at just the right time.
Wonderful restaurant, service amazing, best ever. I woul recomend this restaurant for any visitor in NY
No pueden dejar de pedir los postres son realmente una delicia
Always fun and reliable
Wonderful food.seafood was so fresh steak anc fries great. Our waiter was so friendly and helpful with wine selections. Loved it
Delicious and excellent service! I had a lot of questions and the server was super patient and extremely helpful.
As always, great food and service. Staff is gracious and well trained. Food is fresh and consistently delicious. Have been coming to Balthazar for many years and it is a quintessential NY experience. Bravo!!!
We always enjoy this restaurant when we go to NYC. Always consistent and good quality food. The atmosphere is always exciting and lively.
Always the best!!
A wonderful dining experience. Visited for breakfast after 4 years and was served with utmost patience and kindness.
I observed that the restaurant is looking a tad dilapidated and some refurbishment and upkeep won’t be bad yet retaining the classic look.
I went next day to the Balthazar deli next door and the savouries I picked up were delicious. Carried the jumbo cookies for back home I would go back over and over again on each trip of mine to NYC , to both to the Balthazar restaurant and the bakery.
Made a reservation for breakfast and was seated ina fabulous banquet in the back, a total view of everything! The bowl of cappuccino never disappoints and the food hot and delicious. Great as always!!
Fab service Fab food wonderful staff 👍
One of the few places I've known and loved in NYC for 20+years. Got our first table the month it opened, never been disappointed. Check not for the faint of heart, but worth it.
Great just very noisy
Balthazar did not disappoint! Amazing French food at an iconic spot. Paris in the middle of Soho!
Way too many tables crammed together. You are so close you can touch the people around you. Feels more like a cafeteria than a restaurant.
Went to celebrate my daughter's 25th Birthday and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was. Would DEFINITELY go back. Already started passing on the word to others. Thanks Balthazar!!!
The menu options, the food selected and the service were all outstanding! A tad tight for seating but we were fortunate to have lovely fellow diners at each side. A fantastic evening1
Absolutely Stupendous!! Service was alert + seamless. Ambiance is cozy, Food was delicious.we loved the entire dining experience. Brunch Saturday!!
