The menu offers selections combining the rich, creamy sauces and hearty meats of Brescia with the fresh seafood and the delicate fruits and vegetables of Amalfi. Once inside, an 18-foot, gently curving mahogany ceiling serves as the blossom connecting the fine woodcarving of the front and side dining rooms and bar area. We were looking forward to the Rigatoni Bolagnese. It had very little bolagnese meat sauce on it, and we asked for additional sauce. The dish also felt dry and lacked flavour.
The other thing we didn’t like was the lowest bottle of red wine was $75. We were just having a quick meal, so it’s great to have more economical choices. The ambience of the place and location did not suit the pricey wine list.
Way overpriced for the amount and quality. The food wasn't bad. I've just had much better at lower prices at Italian restaurants nearby.
Service was fast. Too fast. How could they have my dinner ready in less than 5 minutes. But it tasted fine. It was a pasta with Salmon, spinach in a light tomato sauce. I had to call someone over to give me parmesan cheese. $24. A bit high for the amount of salmon they gave me but it is in the theater district. Very convenient spot. When I was running late (I called) , and was only 1 instead of 2 people, the guy at the front who sat people could not have been nicer. I would go again.
We went early—about 5:00 pm—so it was almost empty, hence very quiet and attentive service. Good pasta and meatball. Inexpensive for NYC. Nice dinner overall.
Nice place to eat in the theater district, good food, service and atmosphere.
Meal and staff were excellent. Waiter was aware of our time before theater and service was quick
Without sacrificing the presentation of meal. In no way did we feel rushed.
Food, service mediocre. Nothing special. Will not return.
Seeing Wicked with friends so location was ideal. Friends arrived late but we were seated without any problems
We had our table waiting for us as per our reservation, right near the window which is perfect. The wait staff was excellent, food delicious and orders brought out timely. The waiter asked what time our show began to make sure we would have sufficient time for our meal. I would definitely recommend Azalea.
This is my “Go to” restaurant in the Theatre District. Food and set are always great. Your meal is served promptly yet you never feel rushed. The menu has a wonderful selection and I have always had a great experience at Azalea!
Wife got sick from clam linguine. Most dishes did not use homemade pastas.
Went to see wicked
We had a great time- though we've never had a bad time here. The food was delicious, and our server was prompt, courteous, and a pleasure to spend our evening with (but we do miss our pal Giovanni!). We will be back again and again!
.We had 6 00pm reservation and when we arrived the place was empty. The waiter seemed to be in a major rush and we felt rushed as well by him. Our salad came and had no taste....we did say this ,but nothing was offered or done....spinach wilted,no goat cheese taste.....really tasteless with capital T. Then ate pasta which was passable. Not very friendly...would not go back again. Sorry AZALEA.......
Food was great. Our waiter was a bit abrupt but all of the other wait staff were lovely.
This is a lovely restaurant. We came pre-matinee and had a wonderful meal. I had the appetizer pear and marscapone soufflé with cheese fondue sauce, which was unusual to see on a menu but truly delicious. With a Caesar salad, it was enough for a filling lunch. Of course, we all saved room for desserts, which were excellent. The service was quick and courteous, the water glasses were refilled continually, and the maitre de came around after we were served each course to ask if everything was all right.
A note about the drinks—the limoncello mojito was outstanding.
Delicious food; ambiance a bit industrial.
My friend and I travelled form Staten Island, so we never know how long it will take us to get into the city! We arrived early at Azalea and were graciously seated right away. The staff had no problem serving us—in a nearly empty restaurant!! We stayed almost til show time. Again, no rush, perfect situation! We had a great time!
Server was extremely rude to everyone in our party. Avoid this place for groups larger than two. Also, be careful with your credit cards because the server likes to drop them back off at the wrong tables.
This restaurant was chosen since we were attending a show at the Gershwin Theatre. The service was amazing, the food was amazing and the ambiance was great! I would definitely revisit this place.
Excellent food and service!
Lovely place - the servers were very nice but I got the feeling there was confusion somewhere....Food DELICIOUS
Service was disappointing this time! Standard tourist service.
We had a fantastic time at Azaleas! The bartender, the servers and everyone was beyond expectations! We were a crazy bunch of girls, and they took pictures for us, and made us feel so welcome! We will definitely go back if ever in NYC!!
Went to afternoon matinee with my daughter. Walked around the block for dinner. Great food great service. Sat outside since it was early enough. Definitely go again.
Average food taste . Too high price for the amount of food but I realize it's NY
Great food, attentive staff!
The spaghetti is the best I have ever tasted! The calamari is perfect. I mean perfect.
The cheese cake ...... looking forward to come back to New York
So I can have this piece of heaven again. Oh my word.
Elegant. Delicious. Enjoyable.
I ordered the special of scallops and shrimp over pasta. Except the scallops in my opinion wee not scallops or cheap frozen ones. The consistency was weird, the were tasteless and stark white. Other than the fake scallops meal was fine
Great meal. Good ambiance. Easy access to many theaters. Made reservations or 4. But the 4th showed up late and with a 5th. They accommodated wonderfully and helped them pick meals that still got us out on time.
Super fast and polite service, REALLY good Italian food, and priced very reasonably for the portions and taste. We will certainly be coming bCk
We wanted a pre-theater meal. We were initially placed at a table near the kitchen entrance but they moved us when another table opened up. Food was wonderful, portions generous, and staff was attentive. Definitely will return.
We had an extremely delicious meal from the appetizer to the main course to the desert our waiter was extremely polite and professional and treated us like we were royalty and This is my third time eating here and I will definitely return again don’t miss the apple cake for dessert and I recommend this restaurant to all
I felt the menu was limited. I got penne pasta with salmon in a light tomato sauce. It was good but I thought there should have been more choices of mixed seafood and pasta, like shrimp, lobster, clams, etc. Also one choice of spaghetti: red sauce with one meatball. I would prefer sausage.
The wine selection was tailored to the top 1 %tors. Lowest price bottle $55, next $65 and up. Several bottles +$100
Prompt service and delicious food! Loved it! I’ve been here several times with clients, and it is a reliable and pleasant experience every time. Thank you!
A very nice ace to fine if you're going to the theater in the upper 50's area.We enjoyed a number of items off the lunch menu, before a matinee.
brilliant broccoli soup, worth the trip
fish average, but they did bring as asked the head and the tail
took our picture
and the wine was ok
‘What a wonderful find in the theater district
This was the perfect spot for a pre theater dinner. The Italian food was delicious. Extremely nice waiters and very prompt service. It is just steps from Oklahoma and Wicked.
Food was very very good and very reasonably priced.
Our server was very Italian and difficult to understand but we found a way to communicate.
Located right beside the Gershwin theater makes it a great place to eat before the show
